been few days my car engine bay got metal grinding sound (greeeeehhh grehhh...) finally able to isolate where the sound is coming from - the AC compressor. the sound happens even when the AC is off, thus suspect the compressor bearings. Turns out i was right. removed the compressor belt - no sound. put back on, got sound. changed the bearings for rm25, problems solved! smile.gif just to share.

last weekend hit 160kph at highway then only the problem above started. dunno related or not, but maybe.

bearing will wear off at one time also de.. driving fast will accelerate it to its end of life. good also mah. got new bearing now. and engine should have less burden liao. maybe FC improve?  biggrin.gif

i was also hoping to see a difference in FC! ^^
but just changed for 2 days, time will tell hehe

rm80? wah.... u kena chop karate kao kao liao...
if say labour charge oso sud not be so much ma.
unless your bearing is gold plated? hahaha... (laughing at problem is best remedy)

watched another interesting episode of mythbusters on discovery channel...
on rough surface roads (not potholes!) it is actually BETTER to drive faster than slower.
driving faster causes less vibrations in the car, and also less "jolts" to the suspension system!
the simple reason is, when the car is moving at a certain speed (faster) the wheels of the car actually "fly" over the rough creaves, so it is as if it was moving over a smoother road. now more reasons to not slow down at rough surface roads! (but again, we're not talking about potholes here, ok). the speed they compared was 25mph and 75mph (lazy convert haha)

did an amazing "manual-ABS" yesterday hahaha...
some ******* tried to cut-queue at junction and caused a Waja in front of me to emergency brake. i was behind roughly 10m (80kph) and upon see the waja e-brake, i also instinctivly slammed on brakes. wheels locked as expected and loud screaming sound from tyres (i even see a bit smoke on side, its weird can notice all these stupid things at such critical moments?). car sliding towards the Waja in front until left ~5m, decided to release brake a little, found the steering responding, so quickly turned to the left lane (checked mirror, no cars on coming). else today my car sure in workshop liao, thank God!

aftermath: tyres looks ok, luckily not "shaven" by the emergency braking/sliding. feel interested with threshold braking.

Depends on on your leg, and road condition. If more uphill, consumes more fuel. If you willing to stop your car in the middle of the road with empty tank biggrin.gif I cannot, once fuel indicator on, I feel nervous already.
*
same here. once the light comes ON for the first time, already nervous and will refuel asap.
the only time i really pushing the limits was on trip back to Melaka from Woodlands/JB.
fuel only less than half full, but i decided "boleh la" and started trip.
Once nearing toll, still looks OK, so masuk highway...
i remember the low-fuel light comes on midway, and i got nervous.
luckily, half of the journey, got a tall lorry which i can tail from behind. i think helps reduce wind resistance ba.
finally exited at Ayer Keroh toll and quickly go refuel haha

Very brave ahh to drafting behind huge lorry ? Nais ! thumbup.gif

i know it's dangerous, but bo bian... low fuel and cant find petrol station liao!
but that lorry not very fast, speed about 90-100 only, still ok la. just dont tail too close, later bam if he e-brake.
definitely not recommended to anyone to do this blush.gif

Any idea how it actually works? (ratio changed, more fuel fed into engine, Change gear at higher rev etc.)
*
i never seen that button before, but if its like any other AT, then "sport" should allow you to gearshift at a much higher RPM.
"eco" would gearshift at a lower RPM - this is the recommended range to gear shift for even MT cars, if FC is your concern.
But i cannot tahan if i upshift too early, then the next gear have to slowly climb up. later kancil will cucuk me sweat.gif
