@want: i tested it since last night, highest obtainable clock is 610/1500/770, the memory is just 770 because it reached the max value that rivatuner can allow us to set...but if we use nvtune can set to higher..
but need to sacrifice powermizer, and my idle temp was around 62C with lowest possible clock..temperature wise also not as good, and in l4d2, i got a 98C after just 20 minutes of testing heat...scary so conclusion is, although possible, but not practical.. @double: sorry, i think i promised a guide on that before, but since last month really not free to do one...but i promise you i'll make one as soon as possible when i am free |

lol..unless we can get ownselfs on some damn good aftermarket laptop GPU cooler...but don think such thing exist also..haha
the thing is, if we can drop the GPU temp to near s57, s42 would really be very very nice lo... |

@joshua: did u downloaded the patch file and apply kah? nautis written a patch for 195.62 liao, and if case is the same as the past, it should work fine..but need to use manual installation
and driver signature doesnt really matter after u disable the driver signature enforement...driver signature is just a way that windows protect users from being harmed by suspicious drivers that is up to no good...and because DoX's driver is modded, there is no way for him to get a digital signature for it, so u must disable to driver enforcement to make windows allow his driver to run, that's all...blank screen is not related to the signature thing Added on March 15, 2010, 11:47 amlast time also i got 1 time that my 195.62 is success on DoX's update(x86 one i think), but got 1 time, i off my s42 with intel card, boot up again, cannot switch graphic card liao...after that, the driver just stop working already...haizz... so that time i got pissed off, straight away format to XP + flash bios then change back to W7 and just stick with generic driver... actually if most of the time(like me) ur laptop is sit at home, using as torrent PC or folding PC, no need 4 hours battery life la..... 4 hours battery life is for ppl bring here bring there and wanna surf net in random place with wifi or something nia This post has been edited by BBXiong: Mar 15 2010, 11:47 AM |

actually i am on bios vv3.06 also, the nvidia card only bios...
actually if you don mind the higher heat, can go for the few that nautis modded one...batusai, did u replace the nautis' patch file with the original installation file before u install?? no, pls don update your intel driver at all, as it WILL affect both side drivers... |

oh that one...actually i forgot to mention something
for 185.85 installation, you will need to update the intel driver using windows online update BEFORE you install the 185.85...at least i remember that one solves it... you can try: remove your driver(and clean it after wards using driver sweep), go back to windows, update your intel card driver online, reboot, then install 185.85 again but i don suggest you to do that la, after all, how often do you wanna access intel control panel? |

miahaha, what u did to reach 51C o?
bios 3.06 means no long have hybrid, only have nvidia card active..intel card was disabled by bios, and 56-58 is damn good i'd say, right now mine with cooling pad is 58-60, normally around 59 in air con room with cooling pad Added on March 15, 2010, 12:14 pmeh i think the 57C is GPU? 51 is CPU? that's the down side of hybrid graphic la...we got both battery life and performance, so driver installation hassle can say is a trade off

if u want longer battery life, can try undervolt cpu and gpu, it will reduce power draw...
undervolt drop temperature also right? |

@josh: should be able to install 185.85 then...i wonder what is the issue in the installation...hmm...
did u switch to power saving mode after installation then reboot? that is needed to make the driver work for the first time... |

what workaround do u mean?
disable driver signature enforcement? that one is a must for DoX's driver to work on x64 environment |

ya...i wouldnt really mind, just that there might be possibility that i might screw up the nvidia bios for GPU undervolt, that is what i am afriad of
i wonder if hybrid graphic can help in that...in case screw up nvidia bios, still can use intel to recover the nvidia bios.. This post has been edited by BBXiong: Mar 16 2010, 11:09 AM |

the thing is, the condition for S42 is the cpu initial start up temp is actually 40+, and because the heatsink temp is constantly affected by GPU temperature, which is 60C idle, the core will later on also increase to ~50C
undervolting CPU doesnt really help on the temperature here, best solution would be undervolt GPU to reduce the temperature of the heatsink, then the whole laptop would be cooler...not to mention if undervolt can drop max temperature, means we wont see 9xC anymore |

not this brand, is the specific model..s41 uses 8600GS, and the Nvidia 8600GS is one of the card that is in the defective mobile GPU list that nvidia had years back, and honestly, forumers have been saying about GPU defect here, every now and then..it's not something that user can prevent, it's the soldering material itself got problem, so sooner or later the GPU will sure die one
although as far as i know GPU defect u don have to pay for the repair, but it's really troublesome whenever ur GPU spoil, u have to send to service center again...and some forumers here, like Astria, have encountered GPU defect for 4 times in a year(correct me if i am wrong).. |

seems like he drilled more holes for air to go in also...
Added on March 16, 2010, 3:47 pmi think for s42 we need to drill holes also...if not there wont be enough air to come in also..or remove the dust filter This post has been edited by BBXiong: Mar 16 2010, 03:47 PM |
