i heard a rumor that Dx10 or Dx10.1 is capable for partial support of Dx11.
is that true?
what does partial support mean? and what is their different?

yes it's true...
DX11 is built upon DX10.1 (which in turn was built on top of DX10.0), unlike the olden times when a new DX version means a totally new card is needed... the new features of DX11 are wat that's missing from DX10.1 cards... |

well, it all really depends on u...
if u re already using a DX10.1 GPU, it's not really worth the money for a new laptop with DX11... of course unless, u can upgrade the GPU... if u re looking for a new laptop, of course DX11 would be preferred, but it's not a must... since cards like HD5470 with GDDR3 is not too far ahead of HD4570 with GDDR3... |

Uh wait, tessellation works on DX10.1 chip too? But I doubt mobile GPU (medium/lower end) have the kind of power to deal with it...

QUOTE(M1X @ Jan 31 2010, 10:44 PM) Uh wait, tessellation works on DX10.1 chip too? But I doubt mobile GPU (medium/lower end) have the kind of power to deal with it... just wait till i update my Vista few days from now and post the result here hope Dx11 not drag down my FPS too much. now i am playing DiRT2 with everything maxed + Dx10 + 1920x1200 + 4AA @ ~34 FPS. you think tessellation will drag that FPS down? |

Yes , but some DX11 things dont work on DX10.1 i.e tessellation. It still needs DX11 , and DX11 also brings new stuff to the graphics card , something like CUDA for all DX11 graphics card. It takes it to the next level
