I think maybe he need more suggestions.
For me,studying <insert major> engineering is for learning how engineer thinking.
No need to stress too much on high demand or low demand. smile.gif

Hey i wanna ask that i like physics and modern maths in spm
but don't really like chemistry
add maths is okay but not good at it
am i suitable for automotive engineer or mechanical engineer?
Thanks
oh ya .....i also love cars and have a slight knowledge about cars that i learnt since form 4.......i thought invoking my career with cars but NOT mechanic or foremen workshop.........
*
Welcome to the path of engineering.
Mechanical engineering or automotive or even general term of engineering, require less knowledge of chemistry.
Most of it is physics for mechanical engineering and don't forget math is important.
It's all about problem solving and design & calculation. I name few so you can google it, like using AutoCad, Ansys, solidworks.

There are a lot of career related to cars, such as tyres making, cars assembly. sub-con on car parts, safety etc.

Please google "Finite Element Analysis". Maybe you will be interested in it. smile.gif

Anything wrong with mechanic and foreman?

Which engineering you are interested in? Care to tell?
Chemical? Biomed?

I tried maths specialist(aka additional advanced maths) in ausmat.......i felt i cant really cope with it....
Am i still suitable for engineering degree?
*
During your SPM Add Math last time, do you think you able to manage it?
Math can be improved by practice. "Perfect practice makes perfect."
For engineering degree, it's not only depends on math but understanding as well on theories and logics.
More on physics & logics too as you know.
By early preparation and hard work, you can manage with engineering until you grad.

So, your question, I don't think I can answer for you, that you suitable or not for engineering.
If you have interest in it and passion, then answer is yes.
If not, please don't choose it because in the future you will regret.

What's make you want to learn engineering? Can you answer this simple question. biggrin.gif

Hmm......i really like cars and how the engine work in different types of cars......
I can even remember what kind of engine does that particular cars has by reading the magazine once......
I always curious about car transmission and how it works
Just hope that my future career is related with cars and best is get to be a part of the team to manufactures better cars.....thats my ambition
So i thought of engineer.......
But once i encounter the maths..... doh.gif
Bout abb maths i flelt okay with it because by reviewing my past results......it is gradually increasing without dropping....but nort significantly

In current era, there are a lot of software to help you do math calculation.
What you learn in engineering is to understand those math theories and apply it using software.
Somehow it's important to know how to calculate by manual. smile.gif

Similarly, you will learn engineering drawing by hands and software like autoCAD.
Everything need to learn from foundation, once your foundation is strong, everything will make sense in the future.

You can overcome every hardship throw to you if you have interest in the car.
For your reference.

I tell you my story for motivation purposes, during form 4, every exam, I failed my add math.
I did not take any tuition in my study life.
My physics and modern are considered top 3 in class altho my add math always fail.
My friends really pity me, ask me go for tuition.
But at the end, I study and practise and borrow friends tuition problems and do it.
At my form 4 final exam, I get A for my add math.
That's all tongue.gif

If you have any problem with the math, you can always find Critical_Fallacy sifu in Ask a Mathematical Physicist thread.

My best addmaths result in school exam is D lol doh.gif

Last time fail that time is around 34marks, I think is F... Then jump to 1A.
Practise more then will be ok. A lot of miracles in the world. smile.gif

Indeed it was epic.
I fail a lot of time before too, experienced a lot of time so learn a lot.
"Smooth seas don't produce skillful sailors."
He was very humble in asking questions too in the forum.
Common academic result yet attitude and manners are there.

Not like yesterday Straight-A's student, where I do not see manners from that young guy. doh.gif
Last few day another called k***ming, today want to become lyrics composer, doing survey in /k. sweat.gif

Good manners are really important especially when they ask for help and yet some act rudely  sweat.gif
*
Manners take years maybe longer than double digits of years to learn and practice.
If lacks mean lacks already, not much can do. Please don't expect outsiders come and help those people.
Community hates those arrogance and ignorance. vmad.gif mad.gif vmad.gif mad.gif
As a reference, Bystander Effect. We will completely ignore those in public.

If they enter University for Engineering or other courses or maybe out to work.
Teamwork is important, arrogant people normally get banned and boycotted.
A lot of course work depends on team play as well.
These people without manners must get ready anytime to get backstabbed during study or work.

Conclusion, attitude & manner matters in life.

Knowledge without good manners won't take you anywhere. And it will surely make friends around stay away from you. Being well-mannered and polite will surely make people like you more  thumbup.gif
*
What course are you taking? It may like engineering, these kind of people that no manners, you will meet in the future too.
Just an advice, ignore their presence.

For those critical courses like medic, engineering and etc, attitudes very important.
They can caused much more destruction than others.
e.g car safety, building not safe, and instead of saving life, actually is killing life.

Hahaha, I find that a couple of years of engineering school makes you a lot more humble, when you're getting your butt kicked by subjects, and have to start working with people to survive.
*
Indeed. Since, we fails and fails again in the Engineering.
You will see a class failing a test. Then everyone in the class re-sit the test again and again.
Failing a test is a routine in engineering. We only want to survive.
I do think other critical courses student also humble as well.
e.g medic, accounting etc

But some still arrogant.. sweat.gif

I believe that's true. The most effective way to learn to be humble is being served some humble pies by the seniors or someone who is more capable but yet polite.

Last time when I get my first job as engineer, all my senior colleagues teach most of their life learnt useful tips to me.
6 seniors average >35 years old. Some of the things, they trial and errors life experience for few years then teach me.
I feel very touched. Most of the things irrelevant to the work.
Something like what they learn after working for so long. They teach me so I don't walk the same path as them. biggrin.gif
Most of the things, they are not willing to teach outsiders or friends.
If they feel you are good, then they will teach.
So, I learnt a lot during my job as engineer.

Being humble can get you more knowledge where you not able to access it in other places. smile.gif

Wow your seniors were really kind to the juniors! Mind if I ask how long have you been in the engineering field?
*
If you mean working experience then is only 1 year. smile.gif - During 2011-2012.
"When you find yourself in a hole stop digging" - This is 1 of my senior advice.
When the hole is too deep, then you can't get out.
Get out and find your dream. Not necessary everyone passion is work for others.

So, in our community, always people complaining their salary, job low pay, not satisfy etc.
"Expectation always leads to disappointment."
Company really not able to do anything, even you get highest performance, you won't satisfy with the increment.
Why don't they get out and build their dream?
Just forget about the engineering degree you have, forget about those oversea cert (MIT, berkeley), bunch of professional cert.
Just start anew.
If you get out start a chicken rice stall, it have brighter future too.

Hhaahahahah just like toilet papers  sweat.gif  So it depends on your experience and also effort afterwards?
*
Yup, depends on experience afterwards. Toilet paper is the entrance ticket for fresh grad.
Just like SPM/STPM/A-level is a entrance ticket for Uni.
So, if you have the higher level toilet papers, your low level become useless.

I don't even go collect my STPM cert. smile.gif
Currently, your UPSR and PMR and SPM got any use? brows.gif

I'm no longer in engineering anymore, so wasted my toilet papers too. laugh.gif

E-commerce - business of buying and selling things online. (business)
Apps/iOS developer - Apple apps developer, coding and making apps (Computer Science)

It's very hard to find a job that you wanted.
So, I work my own which the field I enjoy, so, in the future can create more job opportunities for others.
I believed everyone can become entrepreneur. I'm not success yet, just starting smile.gif
