yup alread loaded into my bold. damn faster and stable than .411. and it memory management damn cun. before this my application memory only 18mb left, after install it made my mem free up to 28mb, the after i left my bb for a day, i have 33mb hooyeahhh.

The previous 3 icon camera bug in .411 already resolved in this version. but now got 1 new bug, no keypad lock. you cannot lock your keypad anymore. the keypad lock icon in home screen oso gone. when holding * button, your device will be in standy mode. but this is ok for me. can save my battery life oso tongue.gif

ok now i know, how to get the keypad lock icon again, you need to enable password. If you disable password, the keypad lock will be disable oso.

so it's not a bug.

now i need to enable password for my device.

From the crackberry forum, OS 464 is buggy, lots of issues though camera issue has been solved. Btw I hv the memory issue as well when I first installed OS.414. After using for a few day n battery pulled, my bold went dead. I rerun OS.414 again with complete wipe. It has been stable for 3 days now. No more memory problem. It has been running very stable with free memory up to 33.4mb. So I'll stay with OS.414 for now.

yup i read from crackberry oso, but most of the issue is on wifi connection , call quality, and keypad lock. but mine so far so good, no bugs like they said. my wifi seems ok, can connect to hotspot, no call drop and keypad lock already resolved. so no issue for me.

This is an old feature when u enable your password. The Keylock function only requires u to pre *Call. So yes, they did omit that option. I know how it feels, hahah but hey, works great yeah?

Dear friends.. I've upgraded to .464 from .411. My major conce3rn is that the free memory is extremely low. After battery pull, I'm @ 25mb. After a few hours, went down to 20mb. A whole day use, free memory is down to 15mb.

I only install, what I consider as essential for me only. I didn't install, Maps, Password Keeper, Help, all the games etc.

Any help will be much appreciated.

after i use this version for a while, i personally think this is the worst version i ever used. before this i'm using version .411 and everything seem ok. But when i upgrade it to .464, everything seems worst. SMS sometimes cannot open, Apps World didn't work properly (keep loading) and the worst is when u reset the device, the battery level will drop significantly (i.e. from 50% before reset to 35% after rest) and not to mention boot up take a long time too. sigh.....

For those who have installed OS 5.0.509, please share with us

Would be good if those who were previously using OS 5.0.464 to give a comparison on what changes is apparent in the new OS version.

Thanks.

download: http://supertireguy.com/photos/net_rim_font_chinese.zip

Unzip and install both using DM, then u should be able to read chinese character on the multilanguage OS.

Note: you might get java error after battery pull, but so far does no harm...

Hi. Just would like to know. Anyone using bold facing ringtone problem? e.g. some ringtones is just too soft, some ringtone doesn't play at all etc? I did not have this problem in 8520 & 9700 (onyx) but 9000 had this problem when I tested. Is that a software bug or the phone itself?

After downloading firmware from bb website, open and install to ur pc.

Then go to my computer, drive C and click program file then select common file. Ok now open Research in motion folder.Search for Apploader folden, open it. Theres a list of file inside there. Delete vendor.xml then click on LOADER. After that, just follow the instruction and select which langguage u want to add and then let the application update ur firmware. But dont forget to backup ur bb with desktop manager first. After finish installing the new firmware, just restore back ur data. thats all tongue.gif

BTW, if u guys want the latest version (vr 5.0509) please download the wind hellas version. Because if you update directly from dekstop manager, the current one is version 5.0464 rclxms.gif

its hundred time better than original battery~ its branded 1.. that battery.. not capalang 1.. u can search seidio~

cost 190=.= but worth!!! I charged first time..
8 hours... from last night 9 to this morning 5. then use untill now... 1am... wifi.. bbm... fb... 5%~~~ normally use ori batt.. already use 40%=.=

this seidio battery performance for first time is not max performance yet... the manual stated.. 5 -7 cycles of battery ( from 0% charge to 100%= 1 cycle) will maximize the performance after 5-7 cycles...

this is my first charge.. already so tahan~ 190 worth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought it from a fren.. if u wan.. I can help u ask him to get from amazon.. pm me ^^

i'm using it since last night. slightly faster than previous O.S. now i have about 30++ MB free application memory compare to previous O.S which only 20++. worth to try. you can downgrade anytime if you want if you think not suite with you. not like other phone. i don't think you have an option to downgrade once you update it.

Thx bro, noted. Do I need to delete vendor.xml?

I will use BBSAK to wipe the previous OS, before that need to backup all apps, contact, calender, doc, etc. first, then Load OS and restore apps, am I right?

Thx

Hi Carlito, I have the same problem as you. Can I know where you found your notepad/memo?

Thanks

Added on March 30, 2010, 10:57 amHalo geng,
.
Need your help. Recently I downloaded BBsak and also Wind Hellas OS 509. First time try to install via Desktop Manager and also prior deleted the vendor xml when install the OS 509 from Wind Hellas. Started to upgrade via desktop manager but somehow, the DM does NOT recognize or see OS 509, only see OS 464 which I'm currently on.....btw OS 464 memory management sux big time.
.
So use bbsak now, wipe the berry, then tried to install via bbsak i.e. OS509...to my surprise it didn't dload.!!!! aiyaa...so reverted to DM and ask to reload. It refreshes STILL with OS 464 and not OS 509....also at the same time, losing all my third party apps, my notepad/memopad all missing..chialat!!! why arr?
.
I've done a backup via DM also and restore using the same file, but still my notepad is missing. Thank god my pics and contacts are still there.......
.
now not nice using my berry already knowing I almost 'bricked' my berry...anyone can assist on the
a) upgrade to OS509
b) finding back my memopad/notepad again
c) why didn't my DM restore the same for my berry...sigh..
.
Thanks...

Last time when I have this problem, its actually I forgot to tick the memopad box before I install the new OS. u can try to see whthr u have tick the box or not. It can be done using DM under backup/restore function i think smile.gif

to install back ur memopad/notepad/game/doctogo/etc... just run again the loader.exe from the apploader folder, then on the application screen, just tick the application that u want to install, click next until it install. that's all.

Okay folks, will go back and recheck..sigh....really BB not a virgin..huhuhuhu cry.gif cry.gif
.
Btw, found some info, for those whom are using 464 and cannot upgrade to 509 using DM, do ensure you untick ur DM option that allows ur DM to check updates on its own...should be smooth running after that...

Another new os?! Baru je upgrade .554 minggu lepas. Semakin hari semakin stabil beteri dari .509. Mungkin .592 lebih stabil. Tp saya nak guna .554 dulu, selepas sebulan baru upgrade ke .592. Heehehe. biggrin.gif

*Tolong bagitahu perbezaan antara .554 dengan .592 kepada sesiapa yang dah tukar ya. smile.gif

battery pull = take out your battery. no need off the phone. just pull the battery away.

my battery consumption slightly better. i on the 3g. maybe need to change the battery already. seems my 1500mh gonna die soon.

yup to clear cache memory. to check, before do battery pull, goto option --> memory --> note your application memory. then do a battery pull. go back to the option --> memory --> and note that your application memory increase.

basically ppl do battery pull if their BB got lag or slugish. so this will clear up some memory for the device to run smooth.

U can try memory booster....
http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/1666
use the software to boost ur memory when u don't have time to do battery pull...
I boost my phone's memory from time to time and my phone did not notice me about memory full for as long as 3 days or even never notice me cuz personally i will pull my battery after 3 days.....compared to last time every day i have to do battery pull after i opened a lots of applications....

dont worry, leaked version is the same with official version. leak is from RIM itself, while official version from telco. any official version come from leak version. Leaked version is not a beta version as u tought.

every increment in version means better than previous (usually) regarding asia version, i think the different only the language pack.

do we need to do this once new OS loaded

"Lastly, many members recommend pulling your battery out of the device three times in a row, each time leaving it out for 60 seconds. This can help the device to function better. (quicker, smoother) "

Not necessarily after installing new OS. When you used or leave ur phone on for long hours and notice a lack of performance you can do that like once every week or so. It will make ur BB runs faster is like a reset. It works for my BB.

Your current os version is 423. Just search for the latest version of an official bold 9700 OS and you should be fine. However make sure you delete the vendor.xml file, and read up on one of the threads pin here regarding updating your OS.

After reading your thread a second time, is your Bold 2 new? If it is might consider an exchange first, since a new phone should not have this problem..

I think all you have to do is call the telco and release your pin. I'm just worried once u upgrade the phone with the lastest OS and the camera still have problem and it might void the warranty sad.gif

Or try googling around for this problem...i think i read some where long time ago that it is related to memory card or something like that.

Is yours an AP set or from a telco company?

Just updated my os from 5.0.0.344 to 5.0.0.680
Everything is fine except the memory goes down to from 100 mb to around 63 mb with exactly the same app installed in my phone before the upgrade.
Guess this version memory management wasnt that good enough compare to the previous. but for the signal reception , i found that it was better and 3G signal was stable enough , hardly drop to EGDE or GPRS with this version. As for the browser , slight improvement and i feel this version squeeze more juice out compare to my previous one , with average usage on bbm , msn , fb , browsing , sms and some call , it merely last for 1 1/2 day compare to previous i get around 2 1/2 days.
Still waiting for their OS 6 and hope bold will receive it earlier biggrin.gif

Here are my thoughts:

1) I think it's better to go back to the shop and change for a new one. The longer you wait , the shop owner might not agree on an exchange.
2) Try a different blackberry in the shop, with the same OS and the same AP model. Try the camera. If it works, then it is guaranteed that there is a problem with the phone and NOT the OS.

Hope you get this problem sorted out. Take care smile.gif

what model do u use? give us details, is it 9000 or 9700? or else we cannot determine what's the latest os for you. go to the first page and you have the list for the latest os. if u're using 9700 .743 is the latest, and if 9000 .681 is the latest.

go to the first page, absan already put a link for .681. this is the current stable version. download the os not the desktop manager. just click the link on the first page of this thread.

after download it, install the os software in ur pc --> after install, go to c:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader --> in this folder, delete vendor.xml file --> after delete it, run loader.exe located in the same directory --> follow the instruction (dont forget to connect you bb to ur pc)

there's some small hope that 9700 will get the os6 since only 180mb is required to install on non-touch device...hopefully this rumors is true laugh.gif

Yeah.. and how much memory is left to load the OS and your applications? There is a difference between whether you can squeeze it into the phone and whether it can still be used without running out of memory is another question.

822 is the best for me interms of mem management. Battery drain seems to be solved but remember to exit yr browser & Gmaps each time you switch application. Final release has Asian language. Cannot see other diff compared to leaked ver.

hi, newbie questions.

1- say i update my BB to the latest firmware, and i have an originally locked phone, but ive unlocked it. will the update process locked my phone to its original carrier? like iPhone?

2- i thought that update for BB is carrier specific? no?

3- planned to installed the EastAsia version as less space. will it have english as it is a worldwide language. Ive read somewhere, it does have english, just wanna make sure. And since there's a 40 MB difference in the download file, does it means i'll save around 40 MB on the Bold itself? thanks

Damn... BBSAK is not really that good... It didn't backup my application!! I didn't know that and I lost all my applications in the process of upgrading... sad.gif

I also lost all my sms... Sigh sigh sigh...

Anyway, for those who are doing the upgrade, remember when you backup application using the BBSAK, make sure that there are files with many kb. I didn't notice my 2 backup file was only 1kb each.

Actually you can upload your new OS through the desktop manager which is much easier and faster. BBSAK not able to detect my device with no OS...

I felt the latest OS .862 for 9700 is a bit lag. Does any of you have the same problem? When you navigate from your phone clock mode, did you have the problem where the time in the home screen change from 8.45am(last use time) to 9.00am(current time)?

And sending message on whatsapp application(writing+conversation panel) takes about 1 second delay for the text type and sent to friend appear on the conversation panel.

Hi Guys,

Just bought my BB9700 last week preloaded with V5.0.0.423 (platform 5.1.0.116 OS) and noticed that my batery indicator bar has some problem. My battery bar indicated 25% battery left on homescreen but the battery will suddenly went flat. When i recharged the battery, i realised that the battery is actually flat already. Anyone has that problem with this version of OS?

looks like it....but i had to charge my phone yesterday as i really need it to stay up for a long time today.....so i couldn't leave it to reach the critical state.
but it did reach lower than what it used to die at last time...so i guess it worked.

I had the same issue too ,.... but looking at the lifespan per charge of the battery ... i think it seems fine... last time it was about 4 days on edge.... now its still 4 days before it "suddenly" went flat

Consider a 3rd party battery life indicator. I think App World got a few apps that help you keep track of battery life.

was on .743 and upgraded to .979 last Friday.
.979 is a little smoother to use and some new options appeared on some of my new apps (I think) but I feel that my battery life was better on .743. It's not so bad that i have to downgrade though.

Anyone else find their battery life worse off than before the upgrade to .979?

Not necessary all depends on user requirement and language on the OS.. Some might need and some might not. But of course always use back the original Telco OS is always the best choice..

Leaked means not official by RIM so they have the rights to remove it.. However there are still existing 1-2, just google deeply and you will found it..

BlackBerry are built to be like this... Apps installed on memory card are not that stable... Installed to phone is the best way... I know is a bit frustrated coz Bold 9000 built in memory is small...

bold got 1gb built in memory kan.why dont they just put apps in that allocated memory rather than application memory that is so small..if they could rectify this problem.. it's a best thing ever for bb9000. sad.gif

It is because the apps are so small and it need to be installed in phone memory in order to work properly... Some people like to changed media card most of the time if keep on pulling in or out media card then the software can't run properly! But now without media card our BlackBerry still running perfectly!
