Greetings,
C9 has always been in my most anticipated online game list.
The issue of preference whether this game to be hosted in SEA or U.S or even Europe, personally I would hope that it can be hosted in U.S. Below are some of my comments about games hosted in different regions:
1) SEA: They do not provide good services, they don't really take in players' opinions, they don't give feedback/announcement after maintenance time.
2) Europe: They like to block countries outside of Europe to access to their game. Sorry, I don't wanna take the trouble to use VPN client to play a game unless it means a lot to me lol
3) United States: They are by far the best. Lots of games hosted in U.S are playable by Malaysians. They take players' opinions into consideration. They have nice forum as a communication ground for all players.
About the lag issue of playing online games hosted in foreign countries. This either has to do with the game server or your internet connection.
I feel that if you can play a game hosted in U.S without any lag issue, then you should be able to play other games hosted in U.S without lag issue too. If you do experience lag in only a few games but is okay with the others while all of them are hosted in U.S, then the problem has got nothing to do with you, it's most probably the game server problem.
But if you feel lag in all the games hosted internationally, then you need to check your internet connection. To check whether your streamyx is within acceptable speed range, click 'Start', go to 'All Programs', go to 'Accessories', then 'Command Prompt'. In Command Prompt, type the following and press enter:
ping 202.188.0.133
Then you will see a series of responding time from streamyx server. For Sabahan, the ping time should be around 40ms to 60ms on average. If you are getting 400ms to 1000ms or even higher, please call up Streamyx and ask them to solve your high latency problem. You are paying every month and you should pay for what you deserve. Everytime if I get any slow connection, I will surely report to them, or even if your streamyx connection is down and it happens to be their fault (not your modem/hardware settings problem at home), then if the downtime is long, perhaps a few days, you can always demand for a rebate for those few days lost without internet. The way I proposed above to check your internet connection speed might not be exact because it is actually trying to check whether your speed is fast enough when connecting to a local server, but come to think of it, if your internet is not fast enough when connecting to a local server, then don't bother about comparing to the international server. So, if you meet the situation like I just said above, call up TM.
FYI, I am playing online games hosted in U.S without any lag issue at the moment. I played Fiesta Online (hosted in U.S by Outspark), Secret of the Solstice (hosted in U.S by Outspark), Grand Fantasia (hosted in U.S by Aeriagames), Florensia Online (hosted in Europe by Alaplaya) and currently Cloud Nine Online (hosted in U.S by Netgame).
Thanks for the useful info jimmy.
Usually I have high latency at certain time. Usually at peak hours for internet user. Like 2pm to 4pm, 8pm-10pm. Well I will report it to TM. So many thanks for the advice.
