yeah i understand channel number glitch like 616 and 701..they're channels number is next to each other
But 203 and 615? Thats a huge gap..
The decoder number glitch has happened to me too before this..
But suddenly channel doesnt exist? hahaha..crazy astro

Its gonna rain but hasnt yet but my byond has lost the signal already!!!
Even before this if light rain alreadY lost signal
I am using new dish but cable is from the year 2000..
Anyone think can help?

Launched this friday the 26th

2 things I want to give my opinion on:

1. TM are really digging their own graves. They lost the EPL bidding last year to Astro. They then probably used the money set aside for the EPL bid to sponsor Man United. That is a lot of money. They also got a deal with England Football Association to display the England team logo on their products for one year. What is the point of that? If so eager to sponsor football team then sponsor 1MALAYSIA la..then they launch IPTV but only selected areas. High GPD only. U dont have EPL, U don't have what Astro has, U only have what some people want but still not going nationwide. History shows that those not going nationwide usually gulung tikar not long after launch. Remember MiTV anyone? TM should launch IPTV with HSBB with Streamyx if they want a high number in customers. They should spend their money on expanding HSBB nationwide than spending millions and millions of ringgit on Man U and the England team logo.

2. Astro own the rights for EPL foe another 3 years ending May 2013. But dont count on TM getting the rights for IPTV after that (if it even exist by then). Astro has admitted in the past huge number of customers they have signed up coz EPL..they even paid more than their budget this time around. If in the future Astro has to put every ringgit of money they have on the line, its maybe for the EPL. So TM has to find something else that Malaysians want that Astro dont have. Dont plan for a win in war in three years time when u cant even win a battle right now.

Well..I have this opinion..
Its my opinion only and dont take it too seriously..
I think for the past couple of months Astro has upped their game..a bit lah..
Maybe they suddenly realised they're not the only one in business right now..
They have TM IPTV and also DETV..Maybe not on the same level as them but still competition..
If I remember correctly, Astro actually rebranded around the same time as MiTV was to launch..
So my feeling is once Astro feel they have competition, they will up their game a bit..
N maybe kick their competitor out of business
Remember MEGA TV and MitV anyone?

Astro introduced Byond HD TV programming in December just before TM were to unveil HSBB and IPTV..
TM were supposed to launch it in January I think
Then they launch ESPN HD to woo EPL fans

They thought everything was fine until they had that 'Stretch mode/Pillar Box' issue
N rather surprisingly they have listened to customers who wanted stretch mode back..
Even though it was against 'International Standards'
They even had F1 Upscaled HD even though no where in the world F1 available in HD..still upscaled though

They launch a new channel today Astro Arena
It has been put into the Family Package instead of the Sports Package
So this channel will be available to all their subscribers
This channel is to showcase Malaysian athletes in Sports
It will also show Malaysian Premier League matches to compete with RTM
N the Commonwealth Games from India this September is also on this channel

Now in the same week as TM launch IPTV, we get news they have snapped up Discovery HD..
A most wanted channel with their customers..
N even though Granada TV is a boring channel, they have extended the free viewing date
Was supposed to be until 20th March but its still continued
Until further notice

So my opinion is, we will be getting better things from Astro if they have competition..
Thats my opinion anyways..
I wont be switching over to any other company yet..
Coz everything I want is on Astro..
So Im hoping better things still to come..
AXN HD maybe?

One final note though..
ESPN HD only showing EPL and Champions League weekly
Plus F1 and Tennis occasionally
They only show repeats once a day from 7pm-11pm
What the heck are they gonna show once the football season ends?
Repeats at the same time? 7-11pm?
F1 is once every two weeks or some times two straight weeks and then 3 week break..
Tennis Wilmbledon and French Open is in May and July
Yes there is the World Cup, but ESPN HD will have nothing?
They better start getting rights for many other sports in HD like NBA or MLB..just to fill their programming
Repeats of the best EPL matches this season would be good too..

Astro probably wont have ASP2..
but most likely if they have tennis it will probably show up on ASP HD right now..
If they had it already, they would probably have shown it..
But I think, the French Open and US Open could be on ASP HD..
Wimbledon would be on ESPN HD since its on Star Sports..
Same as Australian Open..
Damn Astro launch ESPN HD after Ana Ivanovic was eliminated

A variety channel perhaps? Astro Variety HD sounds good..

If true AF Final in HD, we're looking at another potential channel maybe in June perhaps?

I'm not doubting Astro..
If they have advertised it then I think its true Discovery HD will launch 1st April

But what i'm doubting is whether the advertisement actually exist.
So far, only two people here have claim to seen the ad..
Call Astro CS and pretend u wanna sign up for Byond
Ask whether true Discover HD will be available on 1sT April

BTW, Motor GP will be on ESPN HD

If they dont have the matches in HD then we also wont get the matches in HD

I think Discovery HD will come to Astro..maybe this year coz its still 5 slots available for HD channels
But thats a BIG MAYBE from me
Theres not that many HD channels in Asia so it might be Discovery HD is one of the 5 remaining HD channels to come
AZN HD might be another choice though
N cut the crap about in house HD channels

I dont see Astro bringing in BBC programming since TM has it now..
TM will probably the hold the BBC rights from now on
If ever Astro wants to bring the best of channels. they should consider FOX channels
Yes I know BBC and FOX are the channels that Astro have their disagreements on
But FOX is one of the best remaining channels that has not hit Malaysian shores yet

Many are saying that TM are digging their own graves

Just making it available in a few places in the Klang Valley and even that for certain places only with high GDP
That is the first signs of a failing company
N making the channels bundled doesnt make them any different from Astro
N not available to Streamyx users
I could go on and on

Maybe FOX is bigger then them
FOX is a major cable network in the US
Astro think they should be the boss in all situations

So could it be that Astro only wants channels that have recent and up-to-date programmes on their network?
N they want programmes that is the talk of the town around the world?
There are so many channels that offer new programming
Just look at FOX and SKY TV offerings..that would be a great addition to Astro's lineup
N would definitely pull more subscribers in
If TM are after BBC, Astro should pull out all the stops to get FOX or even Sky TV from the UK

Off topic - Since it does relate to Astro's channel lineup

Astro will show all 380 EPL matches LIVE starting from next season
So that means every Saturday there will be simultaneous matches,
What should Astro do?
Open up temporary channels?
Have specific channels for EPL?
Use the RED button function like Sky Sports in the UK?
