From what has been happening I won't be surprised to see Disney and Cartoon Network vanish from Astro and replaced with in-house nonsense.

How sure are you bro, Cartoon Network & Disney quite huge investment. If you are right after all, i'll probably reconsider Astro the following year..
*
I'm not saying that it will happen in the future bro, I'm just saying that I won't be surprised if it happens.

My reason for not being surprised is this: Astro has dropped high profile channels from it's lineup before. Sumore Astro is not interested in bringing in Cartoon Network's sister channel Boomerang Asia (that's what the CS told me in my last call to them, it was among the list of channels I requested). And regarding that new Disney channel, there's no news of them being interested to bring it in either. And of course the BBC channels other than BBC World News. If they cannot bother to commit to have the full channel line-up, would they even bother to maintain current line-up?

Damn, I just cancelled my HSBC credit card shakehead.gif

Astro, you disappoint me. You show endless flow of vapid mind-numbing useless ultraviolence like ultraman and digimon (small letters... that's my perception of those programs) instead of mind-expanding programming like Humf and Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies. Pull yourself together and start showing more meaningful programs... or face the consequences.

I remember few days back, I read a newspaper report said that while the children were watching their cable kids channel, suddenly, the channel become PORNO channel for 1 to 2 hours like that. The kids really enjoyed watching it. Of course, it is not here but I forgot where was it, in US or Canada?

The Astro CS just got back to me and they said that they're "upgrading" the fun package by "adding new content" to Playhouse Disney Asia. I bet that they're preparing to "inject" their own content into the channel?

Astro, I want new channels damnit, don't mess with existing channels! I know how to check Singapore guides, if I start finding differences you will not hear the end of this! vmad.gif mad.gif

finally can watch Mythbuster in HD....
*
I hope so. But you must remember that just because Measat-3A has it doesn't mean Astro will bring it in. Boomerang is also on Measat 3, and Astro still dun have the channel.

But hope Astro does add. I also want Mythbusters in HD! Please Astro! I am willing to pay if bringing in the channel increase the HD add-on price from RM20 to RM30.

I want to watch chuck season 3 in HD   thumbup.gif

Unless Astro pulls AXN HD out of thin air like they did with ESPN HD (read: form the channel themselves). Currently that channel only available in Japan and Portugal, and apparently were specifically formed for the country only. And if Astro is not bothered to keep AXN Beyond permanently, will they even want to form AXN HD?

QUOTE(writesimply @ Mar 24 2010, 11:30 PM)
Good to hear about Discovery Channel. I do hope that we get the US feed like NGC. Really dislike History HD because of how the UK version destroys the feel of Cities Of The Underground. Too bad we'll miss out on the broadcast of Life, which is something like Planet Earth, Discovery's co-pro with BBC.

Thing is, we can only get Asia feed. I think it's up to the NGC Asia office to source the program from which NGC they see fit.

Bro, AXN HD will start beaming in Southeast Asia with two confirmed carriers starting in May. But so far, Astro has yet to confirm whether they are one of the carriers.

*
That changes the game. But it comes back to this: if Astro don't bother to bring in AXN Beyond, will they bother to bring in AXN HD? Unless AXN HD allows them to deliver the 10 HD channels claimed in their Press Release by end of year (meaning, they need it so that they can have genap 10 HD channels by year end), chances are we will not see it.

IPTV should not be bundled.

That I agree. Too bad their management prefer to listen to their marketing people instead of the public.

QUOTE(smileguy @ Mar 25 2010, 03:18 PM)
Mitv  started at RM50 and could have been the cheapest and the perfect choice for the middle income unfortunately it failed and  its failure still remains a mystery ! Things seem to be very uncertain for unifi from wat I c hmm.gif
*
I saw two problems with MiTV. First one is poor coverage. Only major cities and expansion is very slow. They could have just piggyback on existing streamyx connection for instant coverage, but back in 2005 even the best streamyx speed is s#@te and pure IPTV like DETV's is not feasible. And instead of using other conventional methods (ie encrypted DVB-T stream, DVB-T with PayTV scrambling extension already exist back then), they go use some weird proprietary IPTV-over-UHF system. But the second one is the main reason of failure: they want you to buy the decoder for a whopping RM650 in addition to the RM50/mth sub. They made the mistake of thinking they can act like Astro when Astro first launched. If they had rented out the decoder for a low deposit fee like DETV is doing (one time deposit of RM100 refundable when decoder is returned upon subscription termination), they would have had a better chance of survival.

Remember MEGA TV and MitV anyone?

The former failed to expand. The latter think they can sell their decoders at unbelievable price just because they're new (read: bad planning and wrong assumptions).

And btw, TM-IPTV and DETV are not the only competitors. We also have FineTV which is also unbelievable - few in-house channels only sumore want RM200++? What? (yes, I've never heard of them either until I saw it in Wiki)

QUOTE(smileguy @ Mar 27 2010, 07:39 AM)
Spore's line up on Mio and Starhub is power packed I wish we had such packages but here we have half in house crap another half selected and limited choices of channels I wonder what Assto has against BBC and Fox channels hmm.gif maybe they wld not listen to them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*
From what I've read in the discussions so far, this appears to be the case. Which to me is both frustrating and stupid. What's wrong with just giving in and just letting them show what they want to show and charge their price? We are the paying customers. You relay their price to us, we pay. End of story. Is that so hard?

Also, if they show something people don't like, just tell the complaining person to not watch the show again. Why let one person spoil the fun for all the subscribers?

But now, TM almost has the entire BBC lineup, and I'm sure BBCE will move there and complete the line up in the future. I would have signed up for both, but TM is not available in my area, and their HyppTV service lacks the channels.

If they want to play this kind of game, I'll just stop paying my bills again.

They might as well stop advertising Byond. The service is so feeble, even India, Indonesia and even Vietnam and Cambodia has bested them in terms of content. I was going to keep the service because at least one of the four channels in my wishlist has been granted. Turns out that it was a mistake. Turns out that I made the mistake of believing that they will change...
