As soon as you stretch or Fit to Screen (this Thrusday) and then make comment about wishing you had improved quality you are missing the point.

I fully respect people wanting the stretch option but please don't talk about picture quality on SD channels if you use the stretch setting as your base line is now flawed.

To get the best resolution and picture quality of 4:3 channels use pillar box.

The SD has not got worse (I actually look at their broadcast on a PC card analyser), your personal standards have got higher now you have HD, this happens in nearly every country that launches HD!

The Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will call for tender bids in the third quarter of 2009 for the UHF 470–742 megahertz spectrum which will pave the way for the country to move into the digital television era. The awarding of the spectrum will see the winner having to build a single digital terrestrial transmission/TV broadcast (DTTB) infrastructure for all broadcasters to ride on to transmit their TV programs. The winner will be announced at the end of 2009 or early 2010 and has to commence digital roll-out soon after the award where the analog switch-off is planned for 2015.

The Astro CS just got back to me and they said that they're "upgrading" the fun package by "adding new content" to Playhouse Disney Asia. I bet that they're preparing to "inject" their own content into the channel?

Astro, I want new channels damnit, don't mess with existing channels! I know how to check Singapore guides, if I start finding differences you will not hear the end of this!   

The most "worse" is pillarbox in 16:9 tv....
it is because, many of us, are already used to lettterbox than pillarbox...
Until now, have you  heard of people in Malaysia complaint to RTM/Media Prima for the movie/drama with 2 black bar on the top and the bottom of the screen??

Discovery joins MEASAT HD's Video Neighbourhood
 
Kuala Lumpur, 23 March 2010 – MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. and Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific announced today that an agreement has been signed to distribute Discovery HD channel via the MEASAT-3a satellite.

saw the ad on Astro with the message "Discovery HD World, From 1st April", looks like Discovery HD channel is confirmed to start broadcasting next month
