yes..i think astro just need to leave the three options there:
zoom, stretch and pillar..
it's up to the customer to choose.

Astro doesn't want to take the hard way by replacing all existing decoders that doesn't support MPEG-4/H.264. Because only 1.5mb or more bitrate is needed to archieve top PQ for SD channel... Imagine the $$ coming out from Astro HQ...

My suggestion,
1. PLEASE give back my Stretch Mode!
2. Astro, just change the codec from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4/H.264, for we to see good PQ sd channel and you can save bandwidth... eventhough if you want to spend billions of RM... It's a smart long term spending,,,

Then why not standardise all to wide screen 16:9 ?

They very unhappy watching Dato' Lee Chong Wei win badminton All England Championship in zoom and pillar mode
They got big HD Plasma and LCD Tv at home but Astro give them to watch with black pillar box or in zoom mode
Aiyoooo..tak tau..Astro..ramai orang sudah marah..
Later this issue go into Aduan Rakyat or even Parlimen tomorrow, Astro will be embarrassed
Quickly..fix it before u get warning from big name people..then u have nightmare..

It's close to imposibble to all SD channels become HD within a year, if the SD channel is become 16:9, i believe it.

CS rep told me that when I called in to follow up on my complains. The World Cup HD channels are the last of new channels for this year (thus the making their press release for byond a blatant lie- they did promise at least 10 HD channels by the end of the year in that press release).
Agreed. Astro's actions have made Malaysia's TV offerings look backwards even when compared to India.
