my dad installed an alkaline water machine few months ago (not cheap oh..), first week of drinking my bro sakit perut 2-3 times. Our family have no idea whether we are drinking it right or not, then we have been told by my friend's dad says alkaline water makes your stomach hard to digest food, becoz the gastric juice are acidic and alkaline water neutralize it. but after we still decided stop using it and purchased a purifier, ok what, still alive.

PS: I didn't mention any brand and I'm NOT trying to defame or promote any brand(later kena complain), just my personal situation, but I'm fine to tell u privately :LOL

I actually got eczema problem and some info in the website claim that alkaline water can cure it. Installed a rubine alkaline machine (got it free from my supplier) at home for 6 months but no improvement. My mom had diarrhea after drinking it, salesman says it is good as it is helping to detox and ask her to try lower PH level for stomach to get use to it. After doing some research online, most alkaline machine only provide one membrane cartridge filter which is 0.1 micron. Just a 0.1 micron membrane filter is not sufficient to filter off all the contaminants, even RO water which is the purest water with 0.0001 micron need to be used together with a carbon block filter. So, how clean is the alkaline water ? ? ?

"While reverse osmosis is effective for removing a variety of contaminants in water, the reverse osmosis membrane alone does NOT remove volatile organic chemical (VOCs), chlorine and chloramines, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other synthetic chemicals found in municipal water.

However, some R.O. systems now have multi-stage filtration media (in addition to the R.O. membrane), such as Activated Carbon, which does remove chlorine and certain pesticides."

There are still debates on alkaline water is good and some say no good, there is no 100% conclusion and as mention it is still a myth. I tried and it doesnt improve my family's health bt instead mom got diarrhea.

From another website mentioned there are two types of alkaline water, ionized alkaline water which is from the alkaline machine and natural alkaline water (mineral water). Natural minerals in our water is alkaline, when water picks up more mineral the higher the pH level, hence more alkaline. So, drinking water with high pH means your water has a lot of good minerals in it and it is good for our body. However, the ionized alkaline water produced by alkaline machine does not add in minerals to it and our body will automatically regulate the pH level by producing more acid to neutralize the alkaline water, so i guess there wont be any health benefit to it.

From my experience, most important is to drink more CLEAN water as we wont know how the little contaminants in our water could affect us in the future, it might not be harmful now but after 5 years or more you might only start to see the side effect. Unless you have some kinda of sickness or skin problem like me, you can give it a try.

our body will automatically, regulate the pH level, unless we have some organ failing and unable to balance the pH then may be drinking alkaline water could help. If your blood pH level is below 7.35 or higher than 7.45, you could die .......

Is it true that the foods and beverages you consume cause your blood to become more alkaline or acidic?

Contrary to popular hype, the answer is: not to any significant degree.

The pH of your blood is tightly regulated by a complex system of buffers that are continuously at work to maintain a range of 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly more alkaline than pure water.

If the pH of your blood falls below 7.35, the result is a condition called acidosis, a state that leads to central nervous system depression. Severe acidosis - where blood pH falls below 7.00 - can lead to a coma and even death.

If the pH of your blood rises above 7.45, the result is alkalosis. Severe alkalosis can also lead to death, but through a different mechanism; alkalosis causes all of the nerves in your body to become hypersensitive and over-excitable, often resulting in muscle spasms, nervousness, and convulsions; it's usually the convulsions that cause death in severe cases.
