I actually got eczema problem and some info in the website claim that alkaline water can cure it. Installed a rubine alkaline machine (got it free from my supplier) at home for 6 months but no improvement. My mom had diarrhea after drinking it, salesman says it is good as it is helping to detox and ask her to try lower PH level for stomach to get use to it. After doing some research online, most alkaline machine only provide one membrane cartridge filter which is 0.1 micron. Just a 0.1 micron membrane filter is not sufficient to filter off all the contaminants, even RO water which is the purest water with 0.0001 micron need to be used together with a carbon block filter. So, how clean is the alkaline water ? ? ?

"While reverse osmosis is effective for removing a variety of contaminants in water, the reverse osmosis membrane alone does NOT remove volatile organic chemical (VOCs), chlorine and chloramines, pharmaceuticals, and a host of other synthetic chemicals found in municipal water.
However, some R.O. systems now have multi-stage filtration media (in addition to the R.O. membrane), such as Activated Carbon, which does remove chlorine and certain pesticides."
There are still debates on alkaline water is good and some say no good, there is no 100% conclusion and as mention it is still a myth. I tried and it doesnt improve my family's health bt instead mom got diarrhea.
From another website mentioned there are two types of alkaline water, ionized alkaline water which is from the alkaline machine and natural alkaline water (mineral water). Natural minerals in our water is alkaline, when water picks up more mineral the higher the pH level, hence more alkaline. So, drinking water with high pH means your water has a lot of good minerals in it and it is good for our body. However, the ionized alkaline water produced by alkaline machine does not add in minerals to it and our body will automatically regulate the pH level by producing more acid to neutralize the alkaline water, so i guess there wont be any health benefit to it.
From my experience, most important is to drink more CLEAN water as we wont know how the little contaminants in our water could affect us in the future, it might not be harmful now but after 5 years or more you might only start to see the side effect. Unless you have some kinda of sickness or skin problem like me, you can give it a try.
One can also balance the acidity in the body by eating foods which will become alkaline after going through the digestive process. Copied from

Contrary to popular belief, alkaline and acidity has nothing to do with the stomach acid which is always acidic. It is rather the blood plasma alkaline balance which is important.
Naturally, our blood is alkaline due to mineral trace content; and since our body is very smart; thus if we are always in acidic condition (due to unhealthy eating habits); the body will start taking the minerals from other areas of the body (organs, skin, bones) to ensure that the alkaline balance is maintained. This is when we fall sick often or have other inflammatory prone disease like cancer.
Just google up and find alkaline food, and you can get a lot of information. If you have a lot of cash to spare, then probably investing in quality nutritional supplement will be a much better choice than just spending on water filters with "magical" cures. My 2cents
