with FA cup out of our grasp, i hope fergie will put the Carling on a heavier matter. Fielding at least half of the team with senior experienced player.

And I dont think we will miss Vidic if he leave for Real Madrid or even... Man City, because we have been playing for like a month or more without him. After reading the way he tackled in training ground, i think its better if he leave. Let him injured Ronaldo or smth lol....

I dont think Beckham will start in Milan game though. He have not played a full game, and the start against Inter really destroyed the coach's impression(i heard from tv).

and on the last note, the key to winning Aston Villa is probably not to concede. Once we concede, they will play 10 man in box defense... Then we kena ed lor.... So its far more crucial to score against them while they are playing less defensive.

We should since now Villa will have to play the FA Cup 5th Rnd replay days before the final smile.gif

QUOTE
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill admits playing an FA Cup replay against Crystal Palace is 'not ideal' among a congested fixture list.

Villa salvaged a draw in the fifth-round tie at Selhurst Park thanks to a late goal from Stiliyan Petrov, with the final score 2-2 in South London.

The replay will now be played on Wednesday 24th February, just three days after a Premier League encounter with Burnley and only four before their crunch Carling Cup final against Manchester United.

Ourself also has a midweek game that week against West Ham on 23rd but still we get an additional day of rest tongue.gif

AV will play their replay FA cup match on 24th, i guess MON will play second string for that match to prepare the 1st team for the final ...

Hard to say though. I was expecting MON to change things around against Palace yesterday but he actually fielded the first team there. With 3 of the Big 4 out of FA Cup already, the clubs remains in the competition will definitely take it more seriously I think.

I don't think he is bought as immediate replacement for someone (fingercrossed) or to be straight put into first team yet. He is only 21 I think? Plenty of time to develop his game.

Plus the rumours 10mil could include bonuses so best not to judge him by price before he even kick a ball for us.

People said the same thing about Evans. Look where he is now. I am pretty much confident on him. Play him next to Rio and we have a formidable partnership. He has covered Brown's ass many times this season. To be fair, Brown has just returned from a long lay off. That being said, Evans himself is currently carrying/nursing from an ankle injury. Or has he had an operation for that?

I dont miss Vidic at all. Apart from his aerial prowess. Something that our young players could work on. Rio came in for the last few weeks and I was practically not missing him(Vidic) at all. He could go. I reckoned SAF will ship him out of Ingurland rather than let him playing for our noisy neighbors.

Simon Kjaer also is on our radar. But people in RedCafe reckons that we might get a striker this summer. We might be able to sneak up on Benzema as Higuan has recover for Madrid now. tongue.gif

dont you think u r far too early to judge him and to judge him by his price somemore? hmm.gif
if SAF saw there's a pontential on him which is improve-able..then its a good buy..plus, he's just 21..
see johnny evans..do we know him last time? do we expect him to play that well ? where is he playing now..he's playing
in man utd first team man..so just judge him for now, somemore u said u've only see his debut.. icon_rolleyes.gif

from my point of view, the glazers are having problems financially(i have been away for cny, and in that kampung area, i was experiencing media blackouts. So idk if the problem is still there or not). Then again, with them having financial problem, we still take out 10m to buy a 21 year old youngster. Evans is a good deal as a young, i hope smalling will be too, but who knows....

We should be glad that this happen. Glazer could easily just tighten their wallet and say no money available for new signings until the the finance improves. Then we will struggle when injuries strikes again.

Bear in mind in the announcement by manutd.com, the transfer fee was not mentioned at all.

So the 10mil figure could be a straight fee OR fee + bonuses. Or it might be just a figure speculated by the medias.

Who else can come in with that kind of price? Kjaer? City rumoured preparing 18mil for him. Plus not proven in BPL where Smalling is.

Do Rooney looks like he worth the 27mil when he signed for us as a youngster? Some might argued at that time saying no. Now? He is worth every single penny we spent.

I hope history repeat itself again just like Rooney's case where we are forced to make the move after our rival showed their intention to sign the player (Newcastle was rumours trying to sign Rooney at that time).

BTW, for the Carling Cup tie, i juz read wiki, and seems there a trend since 2007, the previous winner will enter final but lose. 2007 chelsea win, 2008 Tottenham beat Chelsea in final. 2009 Tottenham enter final again but beaten by Man Utd. 2010, United enter final, will they be beaten by AV? tongue.gif

I hope Man Utd dun continue this trend tongue.gif

i hope that is just a coincidence only... sweat.gif

yeah... its maybe not a fixed 10 million straight. because usually for a a youngster the transfer fees usually involved some clause. maybe for smalling it will be the same case too. who know? come on guys. do u guys still remember when SAF bought rooney for 25 m??? the whole world is like saying the gaffer maybe out mind coz spending that much to unproven youngster.. i still remember. some people said " why must spend 25 m on a fat player?" lol.. it funny. but if let say smalling is bought as direct replacement for vidic, we have to accept it either we like or not. we have to remember guys. in UTD, there are few foreign players only that stay with us till they retired. as far as i remember only Cantona & Ole only.. bear in mind, foreign players usually will moved to another club at 1 point.they want to take a challenge in other league.. player come and go.. dont worry. lets say if really Vidic gonna moved this summer, atleast he already in part of our proud history.. smile.gif

WTF is this?

Since when we always had the need to buy established players?

We aren't Chelsea, City nor Madrid. We buy players with potentials. That being said, at times SAF does buy someone established to complete the areas he thinks needed to be completed.

And what's with all of this negativity of Smalling turning all bad? Do you even remember how that pedo Wenger wanted to buy him? SAF beat him to it. So, it does show that this Smalling guy has potential. Even Vidic was work in progress when we bought him back then.

I reckoned that the Glazers will have to fork out money for the team. They will still need United to be successful in order to have their cash. Source? f*** me, I just hope it wouldn't add anymore salt to the club's wounds.

I just hope that The Red Knights and The Green and Gold campaign will push the Glazers out soon.

i believe vidic will move out from man utd by end of the season. I heard he had conflict with SAF, anyone knows fact about this? If it's true, then definitely he'll be kicked out (SAF is the only Boss there, no matter how important the player is hehe) Smalling buying reflects the intention of selling vidic i guess. Then he'll go to bernabeu, which has been one of MU's main money resources lately haha, always good pieces of business (beckham, nistelrooy, heinze, ronaldo)

evans development has been great, i think now he has great confidence and sufficient experiences, which will lead him to permanent partnership with ferdinand. Smalling? I don't have any idea. Yes true that SAF and his team oftenly found great talents, but talent alone is never enough rite? We can see cases of bellion, djemba-djemba, saha, etc. Just wish this one will be the great in the future one.

I'm happy at how MU developed even more a 'team' team this season, it leads to answer those nonsense judgement that MU would become weaker club after ronaldo's departure, epl facts&figures count hehe

i didnt mean its wrong to buy a not-established player! I just meant, spending 10m on a player now when u r so financially ill isnt the best thing to do!

Added on February 15, 2010, 6:27 pmbtw, i got this from redcafe. no source though, if its disallowed then delete it

Travelling Squad to Milan: Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak; Neville, Brown, J Evans, Ferdinand, Fabio, Rafael, Evra; Valencia, Park, Nani, Obertan, Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick, Gibson; Rooney, Berbatov, Owen, Diouf.

so my lineup prediction
----------------VDS---------------------
Brown-----Evans-------Ferdinand----Evra
Nani---Fletcher---Scholes--Carrick--Park Ji Sung
------------Rooney------------------

I heard Abate is really weak in defending, so both Evra and Park Ji sung can continuously attack from the left side of the flank!

Ferdinand to guard kao Ronaldinho, while Evans can be the final line of defense.

Side note: I highly doubt Beckham will be chosen in the starting 11...

We're still a one man team. What would we do without Rooney.. they find new ones every year.

Someone at the caf who follow La Liga news said the Spanish press are reporting the English press' news. So it's not them(real/Barca) who make he noise about Vida. Me thinks Vida's agent is fishing for a new contract, although seeing his age, we might want to cash in now and put our trust in Evans to step in along with Rio's and Brown's fitness. Smalling won't be a direct replacement though. Doubt he would feature that much seeing as he's not even getting regular games for Fulham. If Vida goes, we'll get someone else in unless the doctor who took care of Brown and Rio give us guarantee both of them won't be out for long when they get injured again. We should keep him for another season or two and then sell him off to Real..
