Ha.... upgrading to full frame is not just the camera body. a lot of other factors had to be taken into consideration. chief of them would be your lenses (sony only makes high resolution, 24mp full frame cameras.... ), your memory cards (they have to be fast enough and big enough), hard disk space and computer processing power. not to mention the possibility of having to buy a bigger bag as well (full frame camera and lenses aren't exactly known for being small or light).

Not entirely true.... You do get an equivalent 450mm on 12mp on your A700. But on the A900, you crop the photo size ANYWHERE around the sensor to an aps-c size photo, you will still get a 12mp photo, similar to your a700. the cropped mode in the A900 will effectively give you 450mm at 12mp as well. so here, i don't see the aps-c cameras having any significant advantage.... it does have big advantage in terms of size and bulk over a full frame camera.

wakaka....! i told you already, aps-c wins hands down when it comes to weight and size. and yes, it wins on pricing as well.

depends on how and where you crop. if you crop right in the middle, then there will be no difference. if you crop the sides or the corners, then yes, there will be differences because image quality will drop off towards the edge of the lens in most lenses. but the point is, at least you will have the chance to crop. hahaha.....

you are out of luck dude. the only sony alpha that is equivalent to the 40D is the A700. That is now legendary and no longer in production. Unless you search for leftover stock (not many left, I would imagine) or go 2nd hand.

anyway, why are you so bothered with people going brand war-ing? enjoy your photography! that's what counts! if you are so bothered with that, you will get even worst treatment once you switch to sony. BOTH CANON & NIKON diehards will attack you! i suggest you switch to sony for the right reasons, not for these, well.... as you had said so yourself.... retarded attitude.

p/s: noprob, nothing will go wrong with the battery. the charger will be smart enough to automatically stop charging the batteries when they are full, even if you leave it overnight.

AF tracking works better with subject moving across the frame rather than moving TOWARDS the camera....
