hi wanna ask about flahs diffuser, I am currently using a ciplak stofen....but wondering if other diffuser can come out better quality images?
i am not sure which to be a daily(almost) carry around diffuser....i like to take indoor shots of ppl/party groups, etc
the magee cup diffuser (lambency is it??) or the demb flip it?? I think I kinda like the magee cup diffuser type, but my friend say demb flip it is good too....but the thing look so canggih I don't know if i know how to operate it

....wanna ask some bro comments here on diffusing...
like albnok like to say; the only thing i use is the built in bounce card. and, i would say it too, all i use, is the built in bounce card~!
getting good lighting is about how u shoot it, not exactly with what u shoot with. i go shooting with my friends(all sorts of brands), they have all those diffussers, demb la, bowl la, stofen la.... come back, they like my F58 45degree side shadow.
like what willy said: it just alter the how the flash comes out, most of the diffuser out there, are meant for diffuse the light only, with sacrifice something, the power, and distance. it take about 1-2stop more power to fire (takes up battery and longer recycle) and it wont go to distance, the best result distance of any diffuser i know, range from 1meter to 5/6 meter away, anything further, the lighting is suffering (unless u boost to iso1600)
braindead_fr3ak: to further confuse u, lol.
stopping down is making the F-number bigger, we Increase the aperture (not decreasing)
linkinstreet : (and any other who wans to know) stopping down, 'increasing DoF', has nothing to do with getting ur photo sharper. stopping down itself, will lead to sweetspot (check out what albnok found, really informative, if u get what it means
http://bokehtests.com/Site/About_Bokeh.html) sweetspot, give best sharpness. diff lens has diff sweet spot, some lens gave max sweetness at F6.3, some at F8, some at F4.
but afaik, primes usually by stepping down 2/3 stop would have already gives hell good of sharpness. (zoom F2.8, sharpness usually starts at F4, some F2.8 itself).
arren86: there are many 3rd party flash, but to sum up everything, "
you get what u pay" there is more expensive 3rd party out there, like Metz which give a slightly more 'steady' shooting with 2 flash (one front for direct fill, one main head for bounce), more accurate TTL (yea, RM16xx for something similiar to F58). for the cheaper errr (i have no idea) they usually, wont give so much of any accurate TTL, missing WL function(hey rm600 might as well go for F42), no zooming head(*the cheaper ones) etc. as 99% of the people here will still suggest u, get sony's one, u wont regret.
prazole: judging from the exif.... hahaha, alright there is no exif... looking at the BG color, i think is a F2.8 lens, coz it's bright. perhaps a 70-200 F2.8? (alternatly, u can find any tele lens like 70210F4(beercan, rm800-1000) 55200(tele kitlens, rm500 2nd hand), etc etc
maxwell: look at the bokeh, it cant be STF

too rough bokeh.
Seng_Kiat: the way i see it, it look perfect~~ (maybe ur monitor need calibration? the blue? from the sun (AWB turn it to tungsten, sun turn blue) make it look wierd? try fire it at WB5500k(or PP it to 5500k), or more PP away all the natural color to more retro.
