QUOTE(kysham @ Feb 9 2010, 02:30 PM)
Not entirely true.... You do get an equivalent 450mm on 12mp on your A700. But on the A900, you crop the photo size ANYWHERE around the sensor to an aps-c size photo, you will still get a 12mp photo, similar to your a700. the cropped mode in the A900 will effectively give you 450mm at 12mp as well. so here, i don't see the aps-c cameras having any significant advantage.... it does have big advantage in terms of size and bulk over a full frame camera.
*
imho, even u crop out fr a 24mp to 12mp.... i dun think the pic will b as sharp as u shooting it directly fr apsc.... tat's my tots

Now the question to macro diehards is this - what focal length do you think was used for this?
*
he's using compact cam... i think sh b 30mm to 40mm on 35 mm Equivalent Focal Length

QUOTE(Braynumb @ Feb 11 2010, 12:00 PM)
really??? then that makes 3 of us! there's a focus confirmation dot in the viewfinder??? didn't know that!! Seriously...

So, if we use the STF/Samyang Lenses (8mm f3.5/85mm f1.4 with chip mod), we can use the dot to confirm focus??

AWESOMENESS!!!!
*
there's an easier way with AF chipped lens....

1. turn to AF in ur cam
2. change the priority setup (on A300. not sure whether is the same on other model) to AF
3. press down the shutter button
4. turn ur manual focus ring n it will snap wen the green light on tongue.gif
