i never had any problem with my Vivaz.. never crash/hang..
i think the current firmware is good enough..
my only complaint is.. it needs kinetic scrolling.
kinetic makes scrolling through contact list much easier..
*
For kinetic scrolling, have you tried installing SPB mobile shell? nod.gif

Ok, i just have a short and quick question.
Is this phone value for money and i heard some OS problem?
Is it serious? seriously considering vivaz pro.
Please advise. Thank you
*
What OS problems are you referring to? Can you list them down?

btw, how to set memory in use defaulty to memory card, when i browsing internet always said memory full!
*
In the first place, where did you install your programs? In the phone memory or in the memory card? You should try and use up the 8GB memory card first.

The picture quality on the Vivaz Pro is better than the Carl Zeis on the X6.

Vivaz have higher processor, but in fact cant clock to the highest speed (based on some review), so should be on par with 434mHz.
In term of RAM, yes, Vivaz better, 256 > 128 from x6
*
You sure? Which review is this?

if i'm not mistaken Vivaz has 256mb RAM and X6 has only 168mb..
X6 processor is slower than Vivaz.. i think that's why it's laggy..
*
Yup. Not forgetting the PowerVR SGX graphics too.

hey guyz,

i don't know what's happening, but 56 hours since i last charged my vivaz, the battery just dropped by 2 bars..

with medium usage, is this a good sign?
*
Usually, a fully charged battery will last one full day. Yours is more than 1 day. Why are you worried? thumbup.gif

To make it last longer, change the Network to use only GSM instead of Dual Mode if you're not using 3G.

Guys, does the sound loudness improved for Vivaz Pro compared to Vivaz?
the sensitivity of the screen improved too?
And does Vivaz screen is scratch-resistant?

Any suggestion for good headset with ear buds for Vivaz?
*
I have not really played with my wife's Vivaz but from the limited amount of time I was on it to install stuff, I found the screen not too accurate when I type or select icons. Because of the lack of physical keyboard, my wife uses the stylus. Therefore, she does not find inaccuracy irritating. Perhaps the screen needs some input recalibration. My Vivaz Pro was spot on out of the box.

I think sound loudness sounds the same for both phones. Note that speaker placement on the Vivaz and the Vivaz Pro is different and therefore they may seem to sound different. If you put the Vivaz Pro face up on a flat hard surface, the sound from the speaker below the phone is amplified by the hard surface. If you put the Vivaz Pro on a pillow face up, the sound would be muted. One tip I accidentally found out when I forgot to silence my phone, I would just cover the speaker phone hole behind the phone to soften the ring.

With regards to scratch resistant screen, I thought I saw some video to show that it was scratch resistant but not from my own findings. I already have very fine scratches on mine. cry.gif

Good headset? Dr. Dre? biggrin.gif

Want to try something a bit more adventurous?

Install GPSP and play GameBoy Advance games biggrin.gif

Installation:

1. First Install Qt 4.6.3 binaries into your phone. Download here.
2. Download the gpsp4symbian.sis from here
3. Extract gba_bios.bin to a folder on your phone.
4. Open GPSP and go File-> Set Bios and navigate to where you have put gba_bios.bin and select it. You only need to do this once.

Go to SymbianSigned and sign the gpsp4Symbian.sis for your own phone IMEI using free Open Signed Online option https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/page/publ...SignedOnline.do

You must provide

Your Phone IMEI
Your EMAIL Address
gpsp4Symbian SIS Package

Later, an confirmation email will arrive. Download and install. The signed package will only work for your phone (IMEI restriction)

*PM me or Google for the gba_bios.bin file

More Info -> http://www.summeli.fi/?p=1883
*
Thanks for the tip. Regarding signing your app, why don't you do it locally? Very mafan to send and wait for your apps to be signed. Just get your free .cer and .key files from your IMEI and use a program like SISContents to sign your own programs locally in your own PC.

Btw , Anyone know any website i can use to download game for Vivaz ??

I only have Quadrapop inside .. =.="
Would like to have some racing game and some nice game ..
*
I've installed Ferrari GT Evolution (64MB doh.gif ), Rally Master Pro (17MB. Had to install it manually since surprisingly mine did not come with it) and Need For Speed Shift (81MB rclxub.gif ). So far I cannot run the NFS. I think something went wrong during installation or perhaps not enough memory. unsure.gif

This is why I say the method you mentioned earlier is very mafan. Imagine having to send 17MB mail for them to sign it for you and then download it to install... blink.gif

Using SISContents in this case is much better and faster.

Hope im doing the correct method ..

Im quite dumb with this ..
Previously using k810i and i only know download and install .. thats all xD
*
I also transitioned from K810 and I'm also a little lost with Symbian when I got this phone. biggrin.gif

For those who have not signed, I signed mine at the following link;

http://www.s60certkey.com

You need to do a simple registration at the site and wait 24 hours or so for them to reply with the relevant files.

You still need to sign it yourself though

Any difference between this and the SPB Mobile? SPB's one also supports kinetic scrolling and ability to add/remove widgets. Gives you 5 home screens too.

This one, smaller than SPB, not fancy turning here turning there. But this one got kinetic scrolling la.
In my opinion lah... Don't shoot me. If I want to "show off" and showcase the capabilities of the Vivaz / Vivaz Pro, I would install games and apps like this that fully utilises it's graphics power.

hey guys, have u guys tried Swype for sony vivaz?

i can't try it because i dont know how to sign myself.. i tried signing it myself and then an error popped up, "cannot install a protected apps from untrusted provider"..

u can download Swype for sony vivaz here

and for those who can install it, it is much appreciated if u can post the signed installer here.. smile.gif

If I sign the program, it would only install and work on MY phone because when you sign the app, it uses .cer and .key created from your own phone's IMEI.

You need to sign up (free) on a website like the http://www.s60certkey.com and submit your phone IMEI and wait for 24 hours. Log in back and check to see if the .cer and .key files are ready for download. Then use a program like SISContents on your PC to sign the app. Once signed, save the file as a different name. Transfer the file to your phone via USB and install the app from the phone.

Bro, you can't share this type of file. It's illegal and you might get ban if Mod sees it.
Please remove it. smile.gif

Actually, there is no harm posting that game because it comes free with the Vivaz / Vivaz Pro anyways... biggrin.gif For those who have ter-deleted the game, you can download it back.

I think something is not right. So far I have not heard of anything bad with regards to GPS signal getting worse after firmware update. If this was true, there will be thousands affected also. I suggest you reinstall and make sure the settings are correct.

Did you install Garmin correctly? That's my only suspect. Install it wrongly and it would not know how to use the internal GPS of the Vivaz.

Only thing to try now is to re-install the Garmin.

does anyone having problem in getting cert @ www.s60certkey.com?
Hmmm, from what I can see, there's about 730 certs and keys pending as of now. hmm.gif The person in charge in on holiday? They also say to give them 24 / 48 Hours to reply.

What I could do is I could use my account to apply the cert and key for you but that would mean that you need to give me your phone IMEI and once the files are available, I could email it to you as attachments. Not sure if it's dangerous to reveal IMEI numbers or not like CC... I actually did that for a friend and the cert and key arrived fast in less than 24 hours. Perhaps they only layan existing members and slow to reply to new members? hmm.gif

Hi guys, i'm planning to get a SE Vivaz Pro. Do you guys recommend it? For it's price and all? I heard that there are some flaws in it, but is it acceptable? And about the OS, and about SE stopping to develop Symbian. Is it a big hit to the phone, with bugs and all?

I really really really like this phone, and want to know your honest opinions. smile.gif So please do help! Thanks!
*
I actually don't quite understand your question. I think you meant to say if SE will stop supporting the Vivaz in terms of new firmwares etc. For the OS, it's actually the Symbian community and heavyweights like Nokia that should be answering if they would stop or continue developing Symbian. So long as the Symbian community develops and supports S60V5, the Vivaz OS should still be supported as well.

As for the firmware, nobody can say. Besides, phones are not like cars. Max life the phone gets is one year and then it will be replaced by new models.

If you want the Vivaz to have a new user interface, you can try the SPB shell.
