If 8days  in Myanmar only cover Yangon Bagan Mandalay ok? Which route is better? Yangon Bagan Mandalay Yangon or better fly to Yangon and fly out from Mandalay?
*
8 days for yangon - bagan - mandalay - yangon overland is quite doable

D4 - Train from Mandalay to Hsipaw. Overnight in Hsipaw
D5 - Halfday Hsipaw. Overnight bus to Inle

I see then I choose bagan and hsipaw instead. Possible to skip inle and choose hsipaw instead. Still not sure how's the route would take how long and the direction. Btw just booked return to yangon  31/1 to 7/2  biggrin.gif

Hsipaw can be seen in one full day, go for morning trek in the countryside, finish up with a visit to nam hu nwe waterfall. You can also check out little bagan or try yuan yuan fruit shake. Then finish up the day by going to sunset hill for sunset

Inle can be done in one full day if you decide to do only the boat tour. However, advisable to stay an extra day to do the cycling tour around inle, that was a particular highlight for me drool.gif

Will detail all these in the second part of my myanmar itinerary, hopefully will finish soon after I release the first part end of this month rclxub.gif

I only booked 5 days to Yangon.
Please share your itinerary. is it more advisable to take bus or train to Bagan or flight?
How much is the visa?
*
Haven't finished writing sweat.gif

5 days ah? Just do Yangon-Bagan la, or Yangon-Inle, see which is your preference.
Another route I recommend is Yangon-Kyaiktiyo-Hpa An

Their train is super slow, you're better off taking bus. Bus to Bagan about 8-9 hours. You can fly to Bagan, but not cheap

Visa you can do at everfine services near pudu there, RM 142, one day kaotim d

Quick question since want to book the cheap air tickets for the current airasia sale.

planning to fly in to yangon, and fly back from mandalay.

so... based on the dates i have chosen i have about 12 whole days of travelling (excluding flying out). would that give me enough time to cover, yangon, bagan, mandalay, inle, and hsipaw?

maybe i can stretch it to 14 whole days of travelling... maybe...
*
12 days is just barely enough to see these places. But I think you should have no problem if you choose what you wanna see.
I did Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay in 8 days, it was just nice to see almost everything. Then another 10 days or so for Hsipaw, Inle, Kyaiktiyo and Hpa-An laugh.gif

Feel free to check out my itineraries for ideas etc

Good pictures and good trip. The most I can do is 2 weeks away from work. Yup, I can plan an okay itinerary. I was hoping to avoid backtracking, fly to and back from diff places, mandalay/yangon.
*
You can do that by flying in to mandalay first. but not cheap laugh.gif
Then follow the usual and most effective route. Mandalay > Hsipaw > Mandalay > Bagan > Nyaung Shwe > Yangon

Btw, to you and others who have been to myanmar...

How's food in Myanmar compared to vietnam, other sea countries and malaysia?

biggrin.gif
*
Imo, myanmar food tends to be a bit pungent and spicy also. Mohinga and tea leaf salad/rice was nice but too pungent for my liking. I liked steamed rice and shan noodles though and had them most of the time

Beware of the street food though, i had appointment with the toilet for few days after having too much street food, luckily it was on the final day

HI need yr advice regarding my iternary Myanmar on Feb 2017 for 8 days 7 nights. Thanks

Day 1 - Took morning flight to Yangon. Stay overnight.

Day 2 - Took flight to Bagan. Stay overnight at Bagan.

Day 3 - whole day in Bagan. Stay overnight at Bagan.

Day 4 - Day bus from Bagan to Inle.(JJ express) Stay overnight at Inle

Day 5 - Day tour Inle. Overnight at Inle

Day 6 - Spend half day around Inle. Take overnight bus from Inle to Yangon (JJ express)

Day 7 - Reach Yangon early morning. stay overnight.

Day 8 - morning flight back to Malaysia.

Question:

Which airline Yangon to Bagan will u take? I saw Bagan air, Yangon airways but any idea how to make booking. Can i make booking straight at the airport? How much wud it cost?
Anyone took e-bike before? Can the person who cant cycle can ride on it?

Thanks
*
Try airbagan, the airport you're looking for is Nyaung U. If you can't book online, you can always email them and make an inquiry

It's better to book a ticket before you go and adjust your plans accordingly. Not sure, but flying around Myanmar is certainly not cheap. You can use this as a reference, but I imagine the prices have increased over the years

If you can balance yourself on two wheels, then you should be fine wink.gif

Thanks wow its increasing a lot. Browsed yr website the JJ express bus ticket from Yangon to Bagan was USD18 back Jan this year and now its already 19USD!
*
Prices in Myanmar are increasing by the year, so I'm not surprised

JJ bus is a very popular bus company in myanmar, however you may need to book in advance because getting tickets on the spot is just not possible during peak. You can pm their fb and provide your name and passport number, and they'll reserve a seat for you

Hi, btw i saw your blog and you went in January. How's the crowd? I'm going in february and since i'm semi-backpacking, i'm not really planning to book things in advance but sources like lonely planet, selectiveasia is like asking us to plan in advance.

as i plan to cover a few places, my concern is on the transport from getting from one place to another, like bagan to inle.

i think i don't need to be too worried about travelling to and from mandalay/yangon.
*
Feb is busy but not as busy as the months before it. If you have only a week and more or less have a planned route/itinerary, there's nothing wrong with booking in advance. Do note you'll still be able to find accommodation without a booking during busy months, but it just means that you may not get the place/room/price of your choice.

Transport isn't much of a problem in Myanmar, no worries. However like accommodation, the popular companies (JJ Express for example) sell out the fastest, and if this isn't a concern for you, then you can just walk in to buy when you're there

Quick Q, i've been reading that larger denominations notes gives better rates (in reference to 50 and 100). is there a preference for either one or both is fine?
*
50 dollar notes got slightly less exchange rate than 100 dollar

btw, better go fast cos malaysia and myanmar relations are quite tense atm, they may do something stupid like make it 'harder' for malaysians to go myanmar laugh.gif

Anyone in Myanmar? How's the condition there since there's tension between malaysia and Myanmar currently
*
I wouldn't worry, as it's all just political talk... for now. Speaking from experience, I went to Sri Lanka just weeks after the former Sri Lankan PM got a 'knuckle sandwich' during his arrival in KL

The impact won't be too noticeable, enjoy your holiday icon_rolleyes.gif

Flying are very expensive in Mymmar, train also very expensive.
Some people cannot take long journey bus due to motion sickness.  No choice , have to flight.
Actually consider cheap if compare buy at airline website it self.

If Air Bagan buy through website, one way need 230 USD already.  2 way ticket minimum 500USD
*
Train quite cheap for me, only spent $1.50 for the train to Hsipaw laugh.gif
Overnight bus normally around $15-20, that's quite fair already given the distances these buses travel
