I was having a problem with the sound in the iPhone 3GS. Music and games would work fine, but messages and ring tones did not. The phone was quiet when calls and SMSes came in. Needless to say, it cost me a number of missed calls, lots of money returning calls, and some annoyed callers! Thought I should share this to avoid similar grievances.

I thought it was the Settings or something... turned up the volume to the max, checking over and over again to make sure it was alright. The problem, as it turned out, was that I had accidentally turned on the MUTE button located on the side of the phone! All I had to do was flick it back to normal mode, and everything was ok...

Hopefully this will help avoid all the hassles due to a silly little carelessness.
