What about the quality of DA5000PRO? I just bought it ..and I also noticed DA5000 have 2 speakers in each satellite but somehow DA5000PRO changed to 1 speaker and 1 tweeter.

Here the pictures of components from techlabs

So how is the quality? and why changed from 2 speakers? I just want to know more ^^.

But it would be nice if they maintained 2 mid range with tweeter..haha.

Atleast from the pictures I can see more components with combination of some bigger capacitors and bigger board compared to SonicGear. But I don't know how to judge the quality tongue.gif ...only some sifu here such as nismo and power911 or mr.edifier able to do it.

Well, one more question...most of the brand have amplifier inside the subwoofer, and there's hundreds or perhaps thousands of components ranged from small to big ones ..but what happens when one or few of them failed? With that many components soldered inside, the percentage of failure of any one of them is high..especially after more than a year.

well if one of them fail sometimes they are just in parallel, so it might still works but you can hear loss of power, or even crackles etc.

i did mentioned here before that i bought a used megaworks 550 in light faulty condition, that it pops every few seconds randomly. turns out the glue have corroded and shorts few small capacitors (lucky it's the small one) in the switching power supply board. after few cleanup it works perfectly again now... (pic is in this thread)

another problem with my speaker is the iFi, which one capacitor (responsible for the dock) fails and causes system to shutdown and pops itself. after replacement it works perfectly for 3 mths, then this time it doesn't shutdown, just pops. re-cap the whole board but still pops. lol i gave up and just send to technician.

actually, don't only judge the amplifier. but also the speaker driver. one can look very small and light, but actually produce better sound than the bigger one. not to mention some other added value such as speaker cabinet tuning. logitech have quite powerful subwoofer, but it quits around 35hz, which is a shame, just because it's not tuned to achieve lower bass.

They have powerful subwoofer for Z5500 but like you said it is limited to go below 35hz. I always wanted to try logitech speaker but Z5500 is old tongue.gif ... but after I bought DA5000PRO ..then I only saw the new model from Logitech flag ship ..Z-906 5.1 ..the differences only around RM300.

dun call me sifu T_T
I just love sharp clean piercing trebles and I've only heard good trebles thru speakers with tweeters

Haha ok master power911 thumbup.gif

so how about the quality of the DA5000PRO's components inside the subwoofer? Just curious tongue.gif .. because I even bought Asus Xonar DX to compliment my DA5000PRO.

Haha... not that bad means below average ..hope it won't fail fast. cry.gif

For the low frequency you mentioned, not only in z-cinema ..I remember some expert reviews Z-5500 and Z-906 as well and they mentioned the low freq are limited too.

Even though DA5000PRO cost RM700..but is should be good enough tongue.gif ...I'm abit regret not getting high end 1k+ speaker. But I will enjoy DA5000PRO as much as possible until it spoils ..haha, atleast the bass is better than R501 ..the R501 bass couldn't punch well most of the time.

My friend used to have Altec Lansing MX5021 and the bass is damm awesome..I want to achieve that with 5.1 system. Btw his MX5021 is from the old batch (later on Altec Lansing decided to reduced the quality and the bass is not as good anymore) ...

Even with the foobar2000 I still couldn't get puchy bass from R501 and I'm using the highest realtek ALC889 (Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3) with dolby 5.1 function enabled which I don't think it is decoding in real-time ..but being processed by low quality realtek software based. So I ordered Asus Xonar DX...hope to get better sound.

As your signature says, you using ALC883..and I think you are someone who appreciate sound quality a lot ^^, but you didn't use any sophisticated sound card/receiver.

So I think upgrading to Asus Xonar DX would not bring any significant sound quality increase (end up getting new DA5000PRO along the way). I'm just itchy to try it out with my speakers with something new because I never use anything dedicated such as Asus Xonar DX as the source of sound.
