You do need the CD to run the games just for verification.
Otherwise, almost all of the game has been installed on the HDD, so it's just as good.

put the game in, highlight the 'Play Game' panel or something similar and click the yellow 'Y' button to go to the game details. Select install game to HD from there. Installation will prolly take around 5min or so.

If you can't see the install option I guess your firmware needs updating.

You need CD no matter you installed it or not. the purpose of installing game to the HDD is to reduce the load time and reduce wear & tear to the DVD drive.

That explains all. Whenever those shops giving you doubtful answer, chance of they cheating you or they don't know what they're selling is there. For me I'll never visit that kinda shop.

Unlike PS3 games where some games forces you to install it by automatically going to the installation screen, 360 games installation is manually initiated by the gamer , so if HDD no space just don't initiate the process thats it.

Installing to the HDD is an option, you don't have to install if you don't want to. It's just a new feature with the NXE.

Of course need DVD, imagine...if not, you take 1 DVD and install to 1000 XBOX360...all can run...even some PC games use the cursed SecuROM to force DVD in check in the drive.

Maybe next time will have a mod that allows the DVD not to be present...my original XBOX still rules....no DVDs needed...thumbup.gif

There is a way to load the game from hdd w/o the dvd. Go google it up.
Mind u, its pain finding it though

Normally, as per what the others have said, u need the disk. Its better to install to hdd, reduce heat, load times, etc

It's very easy to see if it's original or not.

1st is the packaging. anything differ from xbox website is a fake.

2nd is the small hologram tag. Microsoft official tag is a 3D tag & imitation is not.

IMO, if it's expensive, you'd better hack it yourself using this guide and buy your own casing here

Most of the sellers around here is honest enough to tell you if they're selling homebrew HDD or official HDD.

If you still doubt and do not want to do it yourself, then go GamersHideout & buy as they only sell originals or get it from here (120GB, currently out of stock) or here (60GB, currently in stock)

There is 120gb hdd for sales by MS but not worth it to buy. Prolly the girl is not very informed I guess.

For how I see it, theres no downside using fake (or u meant sendiri flash yourself) hdd.. because the $$ saving is invaluable.
