You need CD no matter you installed it or not. the purpose of installing game to the HDD is to reduce the load time and reduce wear & tear to the DVD drive.

That explains all. Whenever those shops giving you doubtful answer, chance of they cheating you or they don't know what they're selling is there. For me I'll never visit that kinda shop.

It's very easy to see if it's original or not.

1st is the packaging. anything differ from xbox website is a fake.

2nd is the small hologram tag. Microsoft official tag is a 3D tag & imitation is not.

IMO, if it's expensive, you'd better hack it yourself using this guide and buy your own casing here

Most of the sellers around here is honest enough to tell you if they're selling homebrew HDD or official HDD.

If you still doubt and do not want to do it yourself, then go GamersHideout & buy as they only sell originals or get it from here (120GB, currently out of stock) or here (60GB, currently in stock)
