Downloading 24/7 no problems with adequate ventilation..but if running hi res movies 24/7 (maybe for advents.) that one is problem cause it uses much processing power, so you need to check your system whether can handle it or not.

Proc: AMD5200 mobo: Asrock A780GM-LE connect to LCD via HDMI Ram: 2GB DDR2 ( will upgrade to 4GB nxt mth ) HDD: 1x1TB internal and 1TB external Casing: Normal small Casing ** because of the casing is small i cannot put in better fans. me not always watch hi res movie... but depands on my free time. so wat u think guys my system can go for 24/7 ? here image of my HTPC ![]() |

My PC is running on passive heatsink for almost 3 yrs now.... 24x7. The only fan running in my Antec P182SE case is the PSU fan. And it's a C2Q, I believe it generates more heat compared to 5200. Yours should be fine.

normally 24x7 should not cause any problem. As long as there enough ventilation. Small casing is not really a good thing to have as it heat too fast.

QUOTE(Elanges @ Jan 16 2010, 03:41 PM) PC components including HDD is made to withstand 24/7 on.. just observe the thermals on each component.. anyway, even if overheat, it cannot die wan.. the Mobo just shutdown... I ran new mobo with core duo without fan plugged in... when it reach 80-90C say 30-45min later, it auto shutdown.. no biggie.. |

QUOTE(maskedchan @ Jan 16 2010, 06:16 PM) not really last longer..some switch on and off every day (same with setting it off when no data received , so HDD stop spinning) some leave it spinning 24/7 (as main drive during d.loads 24/7) is considered 100% on... no conclusive data the 1st option will last longer.. maybe some even develop bad sector within their 3year waranty period.. (good thing is can claim) |

Components will break down more often. Not lasting if you insist on running 24/7/365. Putting in extra fan helps but still components are heating up due to prolong period.
