QUOTE(shahz @ Mar 4 2010, 03:20 PM)
Haha..when you have root you have endless possiilities..There no one thing that root can't do which unroot phone can..You can do a nandroid backup of the original ROM you have, use a CMR, go back to the custom ROM, or install the original ROM anytime (downloads can be provided). But if you have root, seriously, custom ROM will wow you even more smile.gif But like I said, when you have root, you have endless possibilities..Only be patient when you do your stuff smile.gif
There is actually one more method of memory management which lets the Android kill apps that hogs background memory without using the TasKiller. I did it once and it was really awesome. Problem is, I change my ROM all the time so it has to be re-done all the time. I think someone actually posted a link of it somewhere in this thread. But its going to be a long search if you guys want to find out coz it's a link to another forum smile.gif Or, you can search on xda / modaco..Dang, I really need to recompile all of these tips etc.
Okay, first of all, look through the Hero tutorial which is a sticky post of my guide..There will be SDK installation..You need that first to run anything related to rooting and flashing process..After that, just follow the steps I've included on this thread for Nexus One smile.gif

Updates to the community project, I'm thinking, instead we have our own wiki for Malaysian Androiders..We can have all APN lists, rooting guides, basic rooting guides, specific model rooting addition steps, etc etc..But I need a very huge support for this if I want to go with it..Because newer phones will be coming out soon and we will need to play with them..And of maybe we will have to make it ads and donations driven to maintain it (buying new phones etc for testing)..
We can even include reviews..Its still not too late as there are still not that many Android phones yet in the market..If we want to do, we have to do it really fast..
*
Oh.So i have 2 install that first then,ok,will go thru it now, hope it doesnt harm this nexus1 .otherwise i wouldnt try to familiarize myself with alike smartphones at all.btw bro,you can open a new thread regarding this contribution, calculate all the related and necessary informations, about the cost for "webhosting" and all.after everything has been summarized, tell me how much per person have 2 pay,i will try 2 look for contributors as well.and for sure im in.

QUOTE(chewlf @ Mar 4 2010, 04:13 PM)
I have read on Shahz notes at first post. If I understand correctly, here's the steps I need to perform to root my n1 without installing the custom ROM.

First, flash the phone with the superboot image file. Get it from here (if the link breaks, let me know):
http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...-the-nexus-one/
You must also determine which version of superboot you need to execute. The instructions are crystal clear in that thread. At this point, you already have root. The next steps are optional.

Next, flash the Amon-Ra recovery image:
http://android.modaco.com/content/google-n...recovery-image/
So, flash the Amon-Ra recovery image will include Nand-Backup of original ROM.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I am preparing myself now. Hopefully can root it after 1 or 2 months usage without hardware issue.

Thanks.

U mean under bright light for example when the sum is shining. If that's the case u can turn the backlight on....the phone screen function brilliantly on doors as I can admire the nexus amoled display
*
It works pretty perfect in Bright light, but not dim/dark conditions,i mean when the light is off.or it was my fingers who doesnt press it accurately.but when i turn on the light,it seems like working perfectly,i wonder if this has something 2 do with the presence of lights .

There will be no "cost" for joining or contributing. You guys know very well I don't like to take cash for what I do. I do have a server and I can buy a domain for us. In fact, its part of what I do for a living. Our donations are totally independent with no force and the site will be driven with little advertisments. These money are not for our benefit or what not. It may only provide us with gadgets for reviews and testing (which we can actually sell off at lesser price to our visitors who are interested in purchasing them). Its only an idea of course and if it does happen, I will be more than happy. But if this has to happen, I need a very solid force. It will be more than a community. It will be a "family" smile.gif
Nope. If I'm not mistaken its done by tweaking memoryfreq properties..
That is not a problem. If you have somehting to contribute, why not smile.gif
I will spread the word if this is finalized smile.gif
*
Then its hard for me to do the contributions because i havent had a chance to root my nexus1 at all,Not even professional in this any sections..i wonder what kind of contributions i can do with my shallow knowledge in this thing .Im very imbecile in this gadgets stuffs.but i really hope i can do you folks a favour .hurm.

you guys are getting wrong concept for what is root itself..Root does not solve any problems..it just gives you the super user access..You need super user access to flash custom ROMs..Its the custom ROMs that fix problems usually..How frequently do you see releases from HTC themselves?
*
bro, guide me from the first step to last step till i can root my Nexus1 successfully, from what software 2 download,to the last step,if you dont mind writing them 1 by 1 here ,together with the method of installations.i want to root this phone, ghosh .Im quite fond of "live wallpapers" and when the multitouch conquers this nexus1.thats freaking awesome.

Live Wallpaper has nothing to do with root too..Look mate, its really simple..First, you need to install the Android SDK..Then, you need to install fastboot (not necessary though)..then, the rest is all in the first page of this post..I mean, its not that I don't want to give a one by one guide..But ask those who have successfully rooted, the stuff that I have provided is indeed more than enough..You just need to do very little reading, downloading and it will be done in no time at all..Those links that I gave, visit them..read the threads..

where to download the live wallpapers ?zedge.com ?mobile9.com ? still youtubing alot now .still want to see whats the diffrences between rooted and unroot.but still i found "htc hero/magic" instead of G1 itself.
