From what I understand Starhub is using FIOS cable. Good luck trying to get it working in KL. I assume the loop is closed to Singapore only. If it uses IP (i.e. SingTel Mio TV), got better chance, assuming the server doesn't do IP locking. Otoh, you need at least 4Mbps to do HDTV over IP. Since Singapore has more ADSL bandwidth overall (their ADSL 2+ can reach 24Mbps, compare to TMNut Steamyx which caps at 4Mbps with the same technology!), it can be assumed that their signal is primed for higher speed than 4Mbps. So even if it works expect picture to be unwatchable (i.e. constant buffering).
It's a shame. If Starhub come over to Malaysia, open a branch for TV and compete with Astro (or even just offer channels that they carry in Singapore that Astro doesn't have), I'd be very happy to switch or sign up with them to use as secondary provider. Because they offer the channels I want that Astro stupidly won't carry or dropped from their lineup.

QUOTE(smileguy @ Jan 12 2010, 06:37 PM) No matter what end of the day HD or no Hd Astro sucks ! Conflict of interest friend no way Starhub or Mio can or wl come to Msia .In Malaysia Astro wl rule no doubts about it. Astro has the power to make other service providers its slaves just look at Astro's packs with Singtel and Starhub u wl discover the difference. Not only Astro. TMNut also to blame. Because they abuse their powers to make other ISPs their slaves and put their standard so low IPTV cannot take off. See DeTV and FineTV? Both use IPTV tech. Both are promising. And both died because Malaysia's broadband too slow for media applications. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Jan 12 2010, 08:40 PM

QUOTE(smileguy @ Jan 12 2010, 08:45 PM) Astro ,Maxis and TM are here to rule malaysia maybe TM stands to be bought by the other two!!! Without govt backing and monopoly all 3 wld have wound up by now ! Problem: TM is still monopoly. 80%+ of phone line still theirs. This is made worse by the fact that changing providers here is a PITA. And there's no MNP for fixed lines. Point is, we don't want any of them to monopoly. We want choices. Like US.
