Yes, from what they mention in the article, nokia are fighting with the google

the a-gps signal can flow through the WAP setting as well (if u sellected it)
some option can be use to no be accidently charge by service provider:

1. Disable the positioning method (disable A-GPS and Network Base)
2. Delete all the service provider internet setting
3. Under Internet setting, change the "Password Prompt" to "Yes"

the maps that will be use still is the same v1.23.112 (mean same detail as the previous version)

below the new features spotted within this new version:

1. New Navigation option on the Walking Voice Guide (will spell the street name)
2. Michelin makan makan guide changed to HungryGoWhere
3. New in navigation setting button and new compass pointer
4. New in navigation maps view setting
5. New Location Sharing through Facebook widget
6. New Nokia Account setting which replace the syn function (for the favorites)

MINIMUM Firmware Requirement for the Latest Free Ovi Maps is V31.0.008

All the maps and voice files still same as previous version with an EXTRA English (UK) with Street Name which only can be download through the Ovi Maps apps itself (not from Map Loader).

all maps and voices files need to be loaded using the Nokia Maps Loader and it's FREE

in the phone dialer... press *#0000#

alamak... itu setting already move into the "in navigation" setting button... click on that "gear button" during navigation can set the map into multiple layout mode lah

how about "postcode taman abcd" i try to search my hometown it able to locate (but it search online)

yes the new maps do lots of lmprovement and the response are very good

if u don't wanna wake up during midnight and still affrid the lcd will spoil for whole night long lid up (the lcd will lid on after full charge), then do as follow:

1. goto Menu > Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Auto. keyguard
2. Change the Keypad autolock period to "None"

This will totally disable the Autolock function (your phone screen will black out but the phone wont be lock), and when u doing charge or after full charge the screen will black out itself afterward and wont stay on... good for overnight charging

But i've run a check on the energy consumtion, when ur phone not in lock mode, although the screen black out, it's current consumption still highier then when it's in lock mode, below the read out value:

1. Phone in lock mode => idling average current use ~7mA (still highier compare with v31 idling in lock current usage ~3mA)
2. Phone screen black out (but not in lock mode) => idling average current use ~25mA

So can be say here is that when the phone not in lock mode, it will still in active and most of it's hardware still not in power safe mode although the screen already black out.

It depend on what u prefer, for me if I do an overnight charge i will turn off the autolock so to overcome the lcd constant lid on after full charge bug, and during normal usage I will activate the autolock function so able to save some battery juice

if u mention about voice guidance... try yet or not the English (UK) - with street names setting for the Walk guidance and you will be amaze!!!

that's the charge for the a-gps location fix data (5kb~7kb) data through the 3g internet for faster location lock...
if u wanna safe those 10sen then go into Menu > Apps > Locations under it's positioning method just select the Intergrated GPS and disable the A-GPS and Network... of coz ur location lock will be slower during startup

sure it still can but only with slower to get a location fix during startup loh....

nope... it's TOTALLY FREE on nokia side... just check their webpage... now only left is our own service provider data charges...

Something need to be aware... the installer will install 2 programs name after it's done, Nokia Maps and Ovi Maps and stated inside the installer logs Nokia Maps > C: Ovi Maps > D: (funny), overall installation will cost ~12Mb from your C: drive... I've check the installer .sis file and actually the installer have 2 stages during installation, first it will extract another installer .sisx file into the D: (ram drive) then it will run the extracted .sisx file and install into the C: drive, for the 2 installed apps name inside the Installed Apps manager i think it's purely a bug...

no, u can't load it from the map loader, it's within the ovi maps setting > navigation > walk guidance and download have to be from your phone through the internet....

Pro: response faster then garmin, old road more detail then garmin (lorong lorong), got international maps (quite detail).
Com: POI less then garmin, new road not available, maps update so slow (compare with mfm).
