Who has ordered Zoids Original merchandise from Japan? Can PM me your method of choice? I'm debating on ordering direct from Japan through 3rd party or wait for Apezyap to help bring them in.

@Edmaestro:
I agree that built Zoids are definitely risky if you are also looking to collect all the materials that came in the original package. I do like to look at the catalogue pictures too since I cannot read Japanese text.

That camouflage BT kit is soooooo wrong. tongue.gif
Blade Liger? Nope.
Double beam cannon? Didn't see one.
Unless, of course, there are more parts not shown?

What are the prices like for these 3rd party kits?

@shinkurosuji:
From what I can see, for HMM Liger Zero, all 3 main CAS were already released in separate packaging. Should still be pretty easy to buy, I think.

Bro Ahtiven! How was Singapore? What did you haul?
Let me guess, Ed got ask you haul something from SG too?

It would be interesting to see what "ThreeZero" will do with the Zoids line.
I think their 1/72-scale probably will not match with TakaraTomy's and Kotobukiya's 1/72 products.

Who pre-ordered the Zoids Original Stormsworder? Which seller you use?
How about HMM Gojulas pre-orders?

I see some custom repaints there. Looking good!
That Fuzors Black Impact Blade Liger - is it the flash or is it a lighter colour than the TOMY toy?

That holotech Blade Liger must have cost quite a bit.
But it's so gorgeous!

What is the quality like for Kotobukiya's holotech/clear parts? Are the sprue marks hidden in a better way than the ones for TakaraTomy/Hasbro/etc.?

Also - how come no one want to share how they're getting the Zoids Original models?
Can PM me, anyone?

Does the "rubbing with water" trick work for both solid and clear plastics? Hmm...something I need to try out.

For Zoids Original, have not seen it anywhere in K.L. and Selangor malls.
So, only Singapore and Philippine departmental stores get them, I guess. Is it only at Takashimaya?

Any LYN Zoider getting the HMM Gojulas?
I read reports from ZP that HLJ was selling it at discount for Xmas sales or something.

Hey, hey - Humanoid Liger?
I think the proportions look okay. Are you using Bandai's 1/72-scale figures for the base frame?

Like this can create our own HMM-style Z-Knights but what do you mean by the parts not sticking well? Majority of it is Kotobukiya parts, correct?

Well...all is not lost...yet.

Besides Kotobukiya HMM and Dstyle and Tomytech's MSS Zoids, TakaraTomy is also releasing motorised Zoids under the Zoids Original line.

http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/zoids/

http://otakumode.com/news/51a61b4b2ccd0f0c50014ab1/Takara-Tomy-Celebrates-30th-Anniversary-of-the-Zoids-Series-Unveils-ldquo-Zoids-Original-rdquo-Product-Line

Don't expect RM20 Zoids anymore though. Even the bootlegs aren't that cheap! No more "2007 Sale Prices" to look forward to for Zoids.

Battery and Spring motor Zoids are still around but not in Malaysian shops. Going online is the best (only?) option.

What era Zoids was your childhood, spacelion?

Zoids products can still be found, but mainly online - usual suspects: eBay, Yahoo! Japan, HLJ, etc.

When buying from overseas, I agree one of the deterrent for me is the *possibility* of getting TAXED by Kastam. Happened twice to me and had to fork out extra 3-digit funding!

Anyway, if I can support Local, I will but, sorry to say, not much Zoids choices now.

Khai62
Don't forget to give mini-review when you build that MSS Sinker, ya? Also, be careful with the tiny parts. I think a ZP member lost a piece in their shag-pile carpet. tongue.gif

spacelion
Non-working Dark Horn? If you're not scared to try, you can open up the motor casing and slooooowly *shake* the gears while the motor is switched ON. This technique helped to revive some of my old motorised Zoids. Just don't loose or misalign the pieces after you're done.

About your Zoids, I am guessing you have the following:

No. 1. Special Edition Dark Horn

My one and only Dark Horn is this itty, tiny baby Evo-Drive wind-up:

No. 2. Gore, the Lord Protector

No. 3. Salamander

Who wants to go office with this "briefcase"?

I stopped trying to collect each and every Zoid product released after looking through Yahoo! Japan auction site. So many different types - motorised, gachapons, model kits, erasers, etc.!

I don't think sifu Edmaestro also have ALL of them yet.

wallacecheong
Vintage loveliness! That's definitely Gore and the other must be Zoidzilla (not Gojulas).
I remember seeing them sold in department stores in KL and Orchard Road, Singapore.

A big problem with storage of Salamander is that the wings are relatively fragile.
Don't ever store them with Lego bricks, people!

I don't even know where to begin to describe the awesomeness of HMM Gojulas.
Something that big must equal 1 year's worth of priming, painting, detailing and assembly.

@Bandai-heads: Do you think that HMM Gojulas is about 3 Perfect Grade's worth of modelling bliss?

Zoids has really come a long way since it started 30 years ago.
Just for fun, here's Gojulas' ancestor:

Well, if a PG can sell for RM800++ in Malaysia, I think HMM Gojulas definitely have M'sian purchaser(s) too. Sifu Edmaestro, you bought it?

One thing's for sure, I can't get it since I like to keep my Zoids boxes and sprues and my place has no more space! Still a long way to go before I can build my warehouse for Zoids.

v4vangol
Any reason for the preference of Kotobukiya Saix over STKs?
I'm waiting for the upgrade kit to be"3rd party"-d. Might be a long, long wait for that to happen, I think! tongue.gif

It's a Selangor holiday!

Anyone going to Big Bad Wolf Book sale?
Don't forget to fill-up your gas tank for the loooooong wait for parking. tongue.gif

And in Zoids news:
How many sprues is too much to handle for a model kit build?
Apparently, the more, the merrier according to Kotobukiya.

Gojulas will be on sale tommorow!
YAAAAYYY!!

Which shop again?

If anyone finds fan reviews for this HMM Gojulas in English, please let us know.

Here's one for HMM Iron Kong (you might have to forward a bit to get to the review part - sort of).

That Gojulas helmet is definitely from the motorised Zoids design.
It is a pity that the HMM Gojulas did not have the same "sharp-teeth" design. I think it would have looked much nicer that way.

From what I've been reading, the shipping for HMM Gojulas seems to be around USD150 but that's to USA.
Possibly USD100 to ship to Malaysia using EMS?

And in case anyone was wondering what special parts Zoids Original Stormsworder FSV comes with, here's an image:

Bit of a disappointment, I feel. I thought since the other 3 models had special parts and add-ons, I was hoping that maybe some bombs or missiles would have been included. Oh well - who's preordering this?

HMM Gojulas should be a good buy for model kit fans.
Lots of parts to sand, prime and paint.

Hopefully it will be closer to Japan retail price at local shops in K.L. They import in bulk, correct?

If Mr.Hobby is coming out with paints specific to Zoids, I think it is safe to say that HMM Zoids will still continue to be designed and produced.

@kevinlowl:
Glad to know this topic still searchable in LYN. Very quiet here since new Zoids don't come out every month. Regarding Spinefin, I only have "Dimetrodon" version from 2003. I should really have gotten the Dark Dimetrodon too in 2009.

On a personal note, anyone can provide comparison shot for scaling between the pilot figures for TOMY, MSS and Evodrive Zoids, please?
I only have the following images for reference. Is the MSS pilot smaller than the Evodrive one?

Hi there, king_kong.
Do you mainly collect the Iron Kong and Hammer rock variants?

The main license holder for Zoids is TakaraTomy now.

Since I don't read Japanese, I think any new motorised "bulky" Zoids are now under the "Zoids Original" line. The pre-2010 ones probably are not in production anymore.

You can see the current line-up at the website below.
Hopefully this line will continue for much longer than Rebirth Century .

Wow, Khai62.

Congratulations on getting the HMM Gojulas!
Did it come in the Kotobukiya cardboard shipping box?
Also, was yours part of the early orders that had the extra Customize Parts?

Those are some serious big GUNS, Khai62!
Are you going to disassemble Gojulas to do painting, panel-lining later?

It's good that HMM Gojulas is getting some love amongst Malaysian modelers.
Maybe this will mean HMM Deathsaurer and HMM Ultrasaurus could be next?
