Not really. The black level is good when viewing during daylight and under bright environment but become slightly lighter at night under dim environment but still ok for a casual viewer like me. If you are very particular about the true black level, maybe you should go for plasma which normally has very good black level. If $$$ not an issue, then go for Pioneer Kuro
