The best way is to change the antenna.

The single wire antenna is actually the AM antenna.

most cheap FM antenna that come with equipment these days are a wire that splits so it can be hung in a T shape for the best reception.

route your tv coaxial cable to splitter, you can then share tv antenna to both TV and AVR

although TV's VHF antennas are cut to receive frequencies above FM frequency band, it can still be used as FM antenna

to guard against lightning strike, use some sort of lightning isolator on both power point and antenna point, if you have some spare cash, erect a lightning rod system on your roof

Try something that works for me (completely). Switch off ur Astro decoder if it is nearby and just use the supplied aerial that is provided with the set. In my case, it helps so much, u would not believe it.

No I mean if u have an Astro in the same rack or nearby, switch it off. The Astro screws up ur FM receiver capabilities. Try if u have Astro in the same area. Unplug it when u try to cehck for FM on the receiver and u will find that the signal for the receiver becomes much stronger.

Edit : Standby does not work, u need to unplug the Astro power.
