It's kinda obvious this is an advertising attempt for the website =P
some more posted in the studying in Australia v3.1 thread with about almost the same words.
Seen a few places uses this kind of method for advertising so much already =D
Do you have some office somewhere in Malaysia?
Though I'd still rather go to IDP or my College's placement center ^^

From the main rules and regulations:

From the Education Essentials sub-forum rules:
Ignorance of any law is never an excuse or a defense. Nothing we are doing here has never been done. If you do your homework, you will realise that much of the information you seek has been documented in the past.
*
1. Well. I think its time to refresh the first page of the thread includes those Legal Agent IDP...
2. Impose Copyright as companies may try to hijack information & duplicate it for their business services purpose.
3. Topic Tittle/Subcategory: Create a sub-category for Studying in Australia > which few University like Monash under it & others related. So any issues & education related just in this category. Its better in the way that this thread basically doesnt fall behind few pages of thread.

Just a proposal. icon_rolleyes.gif

The math sounds right. Why else do you think Monash, Swinburne and Curtin have opened Malaysian campuses?

Usually the fees are on a 1:1 basis, ie if the international student fees are A$20,000/year, they would be around RM20,000/year for their Malaysian campuses. Still a fair amount of money, but significantly less than multiplying it by 3.

Australia is a very expensive education destination currently. The UK and USA is more attractive from a exchange rate perspective.

Also, cost of living in Melboune is easily double the other cities bar Sydney. I get around with A$12,000/year in Brisbane for living expenses.

And read the front page. There is a very good reason why the cost of living for international students is so high in Melbourne and Sydney.
*
Yes, I do agree with you.
The average cost of having yourself educated in Australia has increased quite exp recently. I would opt for UK & USA too.

If it was at the exchange rate of 2.4, then it will be worthwhile investment.

Those in Melb actually now having about tough time with high utilities bills & etc. No where it will go down. Recession for australia in Making! QLD flood to be blame!

Hey anyone here who are studying at University of Melbourne? May I know what are the recommended place to stay? I have heard about Unilodge@Melbourne but it has been getting very poor reviews from the current tenants. It has many issues and I am quite reluctant to stay there anymore. People have also recommended me  College Square which is pretty good but it is quite pricey. Any other suggestions? Would really appreciate some feedbacks as I am flying there in a few weeks time. Thank you =)

Outdated Duh! go update yourself smile.gif

those in KL have better options - -Uniqlo-

Money wise, Uniqlo-n-other offers better choices than what-ever-made-in-china-rip-off-pricetag-when-you-can-get-the-same-thing-in-msia-

Dont tell me you looking for Kathmandu, Snowgum, Hanley Hensen, Aussie disposal- when winter is just all about wind chill laugh.gif

Hey. re Kathmandu etc, this came from someone who has lived in Melbourne for the last 25 years....I think that counts for something. Anyway it's a choice, nobody has to get it, it was just information for sharing. Maybe others can take the cold more than others, and this is Melbourne, not Perth or Brisbane.
*
laugh.gif im not going to waste my time arguing with you. I have good stuffs from there myself. But i`m telling you choices.

1. will you want to pay extra premium + GST price+ limited choice for kathmandu stuffs when actually its made from china?
2. the reason why kathmandu, snowgum, n some others are still here because of market monopoly + lack of choices.
3. No doubt, some australia made have lasting quality, but this day.. open your eye. Australia clothing mostly are made in china.
4. if you want to pay the price, go ahead, your money anyway. smile.gif

QUOTE(haya @ Feb 4 2011, 08:29 PM)
1) For someone who claims to be in Miri, you seem to think everyone is in KL who has access to Uniqlo. Or Universal Traveller.

2) I'm not entirely convinced about the quality and suitability of Uniqlo. I will freely admit my fashion sense, if there was ever one, is questionable at best, but I find people who buy winter type clothing tend to stick out like a sore thumb in relation to the prevailing style of Z = 0.

Uniqlo IMO tends to assume you're in some mild place (Malaysian government offices) or in the ski slopes of Hokkaido. I question their practicability in more constant climates like Brisbane.

3) I buy my clothing for Australian use in Giodarno (which is different from the SEA ones) and Big W.
*
1. if you are still in the interior of kalimantan or mt isa, i`m sorry bro. Just live your life on. I got nothing to argue with you about.
2. Just enjoy your giordano & big w, just serve how you want others look at you.
3. You are in Brisbane, wear what you got in Lauceston or Hobart. Do tell me if you are tough enough not to get cold with climate change this days.
4. If you dont know much about buying cloths, get yourself a fashion advisor who get your proper bargain. icon_rolleyes.gif
5. Again, if you never had one proper jacket from uniqlo, dont try to be smart about it & try to do comparison about like what Brisbane laugh.gif

nothing wrong, just wait till you arrive here & observe the price yourself. smile.gif

QUOTE(limeuu @ Feb 6 2011, 02:50 PM)
i think people should differentiate between fashion/brand name and warm appropriate (both cost and warmth) warm clothing.........

if one likes uniqlo (a japanese brand that appears to have a huge asian following, and even have a branch on oxford st in london), or whatever brand one likes, by all means, go buy them........

however, if one wants just reasonably priced appropriate warm clothing, then it is always better to buy them at the place you are staying, be they australia, uk, canada, or whatever........

oh, btw, many uniqlo products are also made in china......smile.gif
*
but you got it at a discount compare what you going to pay here.

not really.........

appropriate thick jackets are priced about rm150-200 in kl.......

they were priced gbp50 in oxford st.........

similar ones are priced about gbp30-50 at most high street stores (eg debenhams, bhs, m&s)......but on a sale (very common), they are half or even 70% off......so got a nice very warm jacket for gbp17 down from 40.........where can you buy any decent warm jacket for rm70 in msia???.........

btw, many 'british' brands like m&s, debenhams, clarks, are cheaper in uk than kl......... biggrin.gif
*
recently or pre GFC ? hmm.gif

If pre-GFC, I dont know if you manage to find such bargain.
But currently, its recession mode like; so alot being forced to deflate the price to keep sales going. But in Australia, forget about it; all are mark up for inflationary mode even there is extra supplies.

Added on February 6, 2011, 2:49 pmthere are always sales, especially post christmas period........no matter what the economy is like......

and they ARE cheaper in many things......don't believe, go google ikea aa alkaline batteries......they sell for rm9 in ikea kl.........and 99p in uk........smile.gif
*
Not I dont believe, but your counter answer seem want to compare UK & Msia, while i`m on Aus & Msia.

& about bargain Y.E.S, there is also the same for Australia, boxing day sales.

& that Ikea, again..I know. Not that I dont know, just I dont care about it.

Australia Ikea srlsy overprice. laugh.gif

so about pricing, why dont you go tell the retailer, i`m getting from UK. so much cheaper.

and this is the 3rd year im doing it, of course now im wearing a newer cheap hoodie
laugh.gif

cold or nt, if u r staying in melbourne city, the coldest last year was around 3 degrees celcius, which i think is bearable with just a normal hoodie.

maybe im bias because i like the coldness there
*

i heard water is quite expensive there. but now flood dont know wether the rate will come down
by the way do you use heater during winter?
*
Water is getting expensive for the reason of stupid previous govt decision to build a desalination plant for Victoria. Then Now; we are flooded with water.

QUOTE(limeuu @ Feb 10 2011, 09:54 AM)
i repeat, it is summer now so you do NOT need warm clothing immediately.......buy there when you find a suitable one at leisure........

of course, if like some here, you like brands, just buy whatever strikes your fancy, price and suitability is not an issue when it comes to preferred brands.........

Added on February 10, 2011, 8:58 am
the new style melbourne model means engineering is a postgraduate degree.....so you do a 3 year bachelor's degree then 2 years masters of engineering...........total 5 years........

i would just go to any other go8 uni and get it done for 4 years..........
*
Question is, are you in melbourne currently? If you are not , do please dont give false advice about currrent weather.. icon_rolleyes.gif
Past 3 days being pretty cold like december period when it suppose to warm up by now with more sunshine.

HolyBoyz & those Low tolerance to cold/lack of body fats;

who are bound for studies in Victoria(Melbourne); Tasmania; do get ready yourself a few jumper/hoodie or thicker clothing as you arrive. either day or night.

Just A word;
You maybe -superman resistance against cold this time-; but dont get fool by the sudden change of temperature in Victoria/ Tasmania.

Currently, Melbourne been pretty cooling due to the La Nina effect & Cyclone Yasi...down to March; expect more severe weather change (Hail. sudden warm, sudden cold, sudden heavy down pour); so yeah...umbrella too please.

Just check yourself on Weather- Melbourne

yeah; damn agree with you. & the over supplies of accountants in Australia...

QUOTE(limeuu @ Sep 30 2011, 03:33 PM)
that is not true....of course if you create a mini msia around yourself, you may not experience the full impact of that different culture, but nevertheless, it is different.....

as for roi for studying in oz, the reality is that oz is selling migration through education....so unless people are clear in their mind that they are willing to pay for an education and return home, it is wise to choose a course that has potential in enabling you to stay on and work.....

which is sad, that it has come to a point that many choose a course based on immigration rules rather that your interest....
