QUOTE(zerorulez @ Jan 6 2010, 10:46 PM) you did your homework.. Added on January 6, 2010, 10:55 pmanyway see already.. it's even worse this grain.. due to uncompressed data, so it'll show more grain than MKV.. (means the original film has super lots of grain) due to agressive compression of MKV (smaller file) so all the details - in this case, grain, have to be thrown out (smoothen/blurred) This post has been edited by ar188: Jan 6 2010, 10:55 PM |

Bro, honestly, how do u see a noise? I think what u meant is the pixel interference? Movement quality? Bitrate?

Grain is something inherent when one shoot with 35mm, or 16mm or Supre 16mm... And most directors want the grain because that's one of the beauties of true 'analog' celluloid film.
Most now have software which handle digital videos sort of effects to add digital grain to the film to make it more film-like...some looks ok, some not - depending on the process personally - dont really like films without grains...esp those shot with too high end digital cameras - mainly because they look too clean and too digital...i think those hi-end HD cams like the Cine Alta or Genesis could actually shoot without adding this so-called noise or grain into the picture - but normally the director / editor / producers would insist in putting a little bit of synthetic grain into the video to give it a more film look/ but on this note, in the digital domain - im not sure if we could always equate grain with noise...because i believe they are quite different. so yeah - i guess digital isn't always a good thing...it looses the 'magic' of traditional film materials... |

you want grain? go get the Band of Brothers BD - while this is considered a must have (even for me) the picture quality isn't something you want to show off to your HD-unsavvy friends and family.
Grain was purposely introduced to add to the "mood" and grittyness of the episodes. the 1080p rip of TF2 also had plenty of grainy scenes. Depends on the movie actually. |

QUOTE(ar188 @ Jan 6 2010, 08:12 PM) it's grain.. (when encoding to another format like MKV, it could accentuate the grain more depending on encoder settings, not unlike using unsharp mask on photos) because spiderman produce by Sony studio I notice spiderman always demo on sony TV showrooms, .. dem grainy.. (and I dun mean sandman part) support their own release |
