I was there too few weeks before Christmas. Tried out the D700 to my heart's content. Love the telephoto lenses attached on it too. No chance to try out the D3-series they had there though. Too many people.

wow they have D700 and D3 for testing? Canon Singapore doesn't even display 5D2 and 1D/1Ds bodies on the shelves; they say one needs to make an appointment to test out the "pro" bodies. doh.gif

Yes they do! I'm pretty sure the body I was trying out was the D700 because I have been wanting to try out this body. The rest should be D3 because their large and thick bodies can't be mistaken. The bodies are mounted on steel columns with a lot of metal fixture around it to prevent lens removal, etc. So you can only pan left right and not up down.

And you'll cry seeing the general public touching them and then 'accelerating' their shutter speed capabilities. One boy (about 15 years and seems to know a lot about camera) was like frapping like no ones business. I remembered one moment when he was holding the shutter button frapping for close to a minute. Damn... D700 is fast. Same goes to the rest. Everyone was like enjoying the sound it makes. biggrin.gif

I think Canon Singapore is doing their products a disservice. These things are meant to be displayed and tested. Maybe they have another type of audience to satisfy.

somehow I disagree on this. The 5D2 and 1-bodies are meant for experienced photographers and it should be kept out of reach for average joes. They know most people can't affored to own one so it is wise not to put these models on display and let the public abuse it.

Say Nikon D700 and D3 on display... how many would buy any after firing thousands of shutter counts? 1 out of 10,000?  icon_rolleyes.gif Sooner or later Nikon Center gonna put D3 and D700 in cabinets  laugh.gif , testing is by request only.

I agree. Maybe it is a good opportunity to show some 'fire power' to average consumers during their launching. Soon we shall see if this will happen.

I think D3 shutter count limit is 300k. I seriously doubt I'll even use until 100k before I upgrade the body.

Nikon event this weekend? Will go look see look see if got time.

300k? shocking.gif Wow... thats a lot. It'll last almost a life time. I wonder how much is the D700? Similar figures too?

Aiyah I should have taken the Launch Itinerary and scan for everyone.

I remember vaguely got demos, tutorial sessions, etc. and model shoot. In true 1malaysia style

Day 1: Baju Kurung
Day 2: Sari
Day 3: Cheongsam

Something like that. I think congratulations to the folks who brought this Centre to life. My fav is looking at all the line up of cameras, both digital and non digital. From the days of D100 to D300s, D1 to D3, also got the D40/50/60/70/80/90 as well as the older fav like FM2, F3, F4, F5, F6. Worth going to see. I was there at 10am and I had uninhibited and uninterrupted access to all the new toys. I can tell you i works having those toys there. My first time playing with D700 and now I seriously considering upgrade from my D300. Of course no one would be silly enough to buy from there, but hey at the end of the day Nikon wins coz someone is buying Nikon from some other dealer. That's why this is a showroom ma, to showcase their stuff where most dealers wont even let orinary people touch one. Or they let their fren fren photog touch only. It's ok to aspire and dream mah and the dream starts at the Nikon centre lorr. btw i dont work for Nikon, i'm only a huge fan.

I'm interested with the Day 3 one. Yeah, I agree... I do love the line ups from entry level all the way to higher end ones. I like the F6 cameras. They are still on sale right?

I guess the shutter speed and the sound it makes are more apparent to a normal consumer who's standing next to it. These are more tangible.
