QUOTE(irwan6179 @ Apr 5 2010, 01:07 PM) It's kinda semi-multitasking... some of the built in function like mail/picture gallery/music/ibook can remember your setting and return it back once you reopen. But for 3rd party apps, i don't think you can multitask But all we know now is that a new update for the iPhone OS is on the way and should support multitasking. That should coincide with the upcoming new iPhone. Lets just hope that iPAD will be included too. Remember iPhone OS updates were free for recent iPhones but chargeable for iPod Touches? Engadget reported the same game rules for iPad.

QUOTE(vassalle @ Apr 5 2010, 02:59 PM) Hopefully Apple can squeeze decent enough multi-tasking capabilities in the 256mb ram in the iPad. Wait... has it been disclosed and confirmed that the RAM is 256MB? I read from Anand and Engadget that that thing has a minimum 512MB of RAM? We do know the A4 is 1GHz though.

QUOTE(frega @ Apr 5 2010, 05:37 PM) Typical Apple. The new A4 chip = GPU + A8 1Ghz + 256 RAM in one chip or something = same specs as iPhone 3GS. Premium prices for outdated specs. I'm getting tired of this bullcrap. Doing the same thing as they're doing on the Mac lines. Steve: "Shhhhh, dont tell them, lets see how long before we get called out on. I mean they'll notice we're giving them a terrible deal sooner or later right?" I wonder how multitasking would cope with this configuration.

QUOTE(irwan6179 @ Apr 5 2010, 11:31 PM) Apple sold 300,000 Ipad on the launch day. Not bad but that lesser than Iphone. I've been reading reviews and most people said the interface is very fluid and faster than Iphone, even with bigger screen and resolution. Considering Apple deep seated interest in fluidity and user interface, I doubt they will sacrifice those for the sake of multitasking, unless they can come up with workaround that doesn't compromise user experience. The fluidity could be Apple taking more advantage on the PowerVR SGX to run the show. For the record, we still don't know what variant is that SGX. The 3GS had the SGX 535 with enormous processing power. It could be 540 or 545 but no one will ever know. Thats the beauty of packing everything into the same die --> A4. RAM is also packed in. Thats why its so difficult to dig info. Hopefully developers could tell us some stories. QUOTE(frega @ Apr 6 2010, 04:56 AM) is thiis blendtec selling the blender or something wtf is wrong with this people. Its a blender company and they're trying to gain attention. Its increasingly lame though. They keep on blending very large things and in some series it doesn't make sense at all. I was shocked when they blend magnets and other solid metals. Good stuff.

OK people. Its confirmed. http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/06/apples-...d-investigated/http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/A4-Processor-Teardown/2204/1The A4 processor is verified to be a Package-on-Package solution. Everything is packed in. The memory (verified to be manufactured by Samsung) is stacked right on top of the processor package. Its 256MB DDR2 RAM and because it is stacked so close to the processor it is faster and more power efficient. The rest of the stuff like GPU, DC-DC, accelerometer, etc are also packed in. This is one congested chip. The GPU is confirmed via benchmark to be comparable to PowerVR SGX 535. The processor is suspected to the same Cortex A8 but no one is sure if Cortex A9 could be inside it because it is also available as single chip form.

QUOTE(ozak @ Apr 12 2010, 11:21 AM) How reliable apple product? I see most of you guy consent about warranty. Is their product alot of deffective? Well Apple has been known to be reliable and consistent in its product quality. Not until recently especially with their new product refresh like iMacs, etc, we heard enough. For the iPAD, we heard about WIFI issues and heat problems causing the OS to stop responding momentarily. Let me give you an idea on buying an overseas product with no warranty support locally. The Nexus One was plagued with RAM problems in one of its first batches. Causing crazy reboots like it has a mind on its own. The buyers? They didn't really get stuck. They can still return it through the traders. They could go through the Singapore route for repairs. Its just a lot of inconvenience and disappointment from the users.

QUOTE(bearbearhong @ Apr 12 2010, 03:08 PM) hi, would u be kind enuf to highlight here where u gotten the info on the warranty of Ipad by Apple.... thanks~ I just read from Apple website on its legal session pertaining to ipad warranty, a brief check out, it did mentioned that Apple may restrict the warranty service to the country of purchase, but i dont see "black and White" indicating warranty is strictly limited to the country of purchase... One clause in all of its policies will give it freedom to change any policy to however it like. So no need black and white. Its automatic. Even if you have an older revision of the terms and condition, Apple reserves the right to change any of that without requiring notifications unless certain rights stated by law.

QUOTE(Masamune @ Apr 13 2010, 08:10 AM) Hey is the iPad practical for students? I feel like its a great device to own but it feels like rather just like a luxury.. Frankly speaking it is an unnecessary device hehehe but no harm having a fun device. I can foresee future students bring a slate device like iPAD with their reading material loaded in the device. No more textbooks. Heck, maybe they have more than one slate just in case they need to refer to more than one book at a time. For now, most of your content and resources are on the textbook, journals, etc. So no go there hehehe...

QUOTE(fyire @ Apr 13 2010, 09:46 AM) This does depend on the initiative of the school to digitize their content for distribution on the device though. Yeah and I wish to see this happen in a few generations hahaha... During our younger days, this kind of thing were of fantasies. Now we finally witness it. QUOTE(x132755 @ Apr 13 2010, 11:57 AM) official one will be in june, supplier from SIS distributor.. Wah... your source seems to be very update ya hahaha... sure is SIS?
