Just found out Razer has their own mouse feet now. About time. Anyone knows if it'll be available here, or do I have to order it online and play triple the price with shipping?

Damn I'm out of date with Razer things. Just found out about the Onza too. Too bad it's wired. Not too sure if I can go back to using wired controllers for Xbox360..

Some live pictures of an Onza prototype @ CES2010 - Link

Looks sweet. I find it weird that I'm getting excited over an Xbox360 controller, seeing that I have no qualms whatsoever with the standard one, plus the fact that I've hardly played it at all lately. Maybe it's partly because it's the one new Razer product that I'm even remotely interested in since like, when was the Mamba announced again? Oh right, CES2009.

$50 xbox controller?? hmm...then if convert to RM, wouldn't it be cheaper then the stock one??
and from the pic..i think i just saw 2 extra button on the back and bottom...izit??
*
Well the retail price of the MS Xbox360 Wireless Controller is also $50, wired $40. Here though, it's much cheaper than that, a wireless one would cost you around RM130. A price below RM200 for the Onza sounds about right.

There are 2 extra button on the Onza, placed in between the bumper buttons and triggers, which can be set to your own preference via the sliders on the bottom of the controller.
Apart from that -
The analog sticks have customisable tensions, controlled using dials on each stick.
All the buttons are changed to Razer grade hyperesponse ones.
The Back and Start buttons are moved downwards.
And the customary Razer lighting, of course.

Customisable analog stick tension - means you can change the pullback force of the stick (towards center), depending on your own liking and game, be it slack for fast movements or tight for precise aiming.

The Onza's analog stick tensioners are a great idea and the controller looks terrific =)

Being an Xbox360 gamer (not very active anymore) myself, the analog sticks will definitely be useful for FPS type games and even some racing games.

But what would the extra buttons function as? Are they customizable to our own liking like how side buttons on a mouse work?
....I honestly doubt that. I think they're just gonna function as extra keys for mapping the thumb buttons to. Not very useful if you ask me...
*
Yeah the analog stick tensioners will be great for FPS games. For racing games I'll stick to my wheel haha. The individual d-pad buttons are a nice addition too. Surely it'll be better than the horrendous standard one.

As for the extra buttons, you can see the configure sliders on the bottom of the controller at the link I posted earlier, this one - Link

Ah yes the Copperhead. One of my favourite mice of all time. Served me well for over 2 years without a hitch.

Yeah never really worried about the replacement battery. The way I see it, once the battery goes dead I'll either use it as a wired mouse, or more likely, put it in my collection room (i.e. store room ;p) and get a new mouse. Hopefully Razer would have released a new high end wireless mouse by then. Or if not, I'd be happy to get another Mamba anyway.

Nice to see constructive arguments back here in the Razer Thread, instead of the constant annoying spamming of late (or rather quite a long while now).

My take is that Razer is in no way a Do-it-All company. Gaming mice is what it does best, and even at that, they've had a couple of miss hits (Naga and Orochi comes to mind). Their entire Pro|Solutions lineup is forgettable, the Pro|Click Mobile being an absolute lemon. Gaming keyboard, well, they're not that great at that either. I've had a Lycosa which I regretted ever buying from the moment I touched it, and the Tarantula, while competent enough, has had too many reports of premature key fading. Talking about fading, my eXactMat wore out pretty quickly too, though the Destructor is pretty damn sturdy.

But all these things still cannot detract anything from the fact that Razer makes really good gaming mice. From my first Diamondback, to the Copperhead, Lachesis and now Mamba, I've loved every one of them. Yes, my Diamondback had some connectivity issues, the Copperhead developed an annoying double-clicking antic, Lachesis and Mamba had some major jittering problem at the start (both fixed with Firmware/Driver updates + the Destructor pad), yet they're all exceptionally great mice in my opinion.

Now I know I'm not painting a good picture on Razer product quality here, and credit is due where it is due and but in this instance, they don't quite deserve it. There is no doubt whatsoever that Razer needs to improve on their quality, and fast. There's only so many defects that a fan can take before they have serious doubts on buying newer Razer products. I'm not quite there yet though =p (will be getting a DeathAdder/Imperator + Sphex/Destructor for my new work place soon).

I give a special mention for the Mako though, a truly awesome set of speakers. I look forward to its replacement (if there is any), and hope to God that Razer sticks to a 2.1 setup.

Chill guys. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And yes, fanboyism is not allowed, and frankly, its getting a little thick, ridiculous and annoying here.

To me the moray isn't that bad, and well worth the (relatively) low price. But then again I'm no audiophile. I love my Mako though. Sure it's expensive and an extravagant buy, but at the end of the day it's up to the end user to decide whether or not it's worth it. Me, I'm wholly satisfied by it, it's one of the very few things that I'm genuinely proud to own, with only my car being the other. Btw, the Mako is actually co-developed with THX and not merely THX Certified, and no, that detail has no meaning to me in any way.

Bring back the educated discussion and begone with the mindless fanboyism/spamming/bashing.
Cheers.

I'm guessing the warm base of the charging dock is caused by the lighting mechanism. It shouldn't be a problem, leaving it plugged in. Do note that the Mamba will not work if the charging dock is unplugged, as it is also the wireless receiver. You could, however, opt to turn the lighting off through the Mamba Configurator, or plug the cable directly into the Mamba (wired mode) and bypass the charging dock/wireless receiver altogether. The latter will also solve your Mamba's sleep problem.

I've been using firmware 1.08.02 for quite a while now and I don't have any problems with the mouse going to sleep mode. Yes, you can revert to an earlier firmware by downloading the firmware updater from razerzone.

I assume that you've either pulled off the plastic tab that's in the battery compartment or more likely folded it under the battery itself. If you've done either of those, there isn't a proper way that you can take the battery out, apart from crudely poking it out (try poking from the right side of the battery, the small protruding bit).

Once/if you've managed to poke it out, make sure you install it back in again properly with the pull tab wrapped around the underside of the battery. Then all you need to do to take the battery out again is pull lightly on the tab.

Read the manual next time please.
Cheers.

Hi guys, i'm planning to get Mamba soon.. Upgrading from my few years old CH...
What's the cheapest price you could get for Mamba?
Anything i should be aware of? from what i read from your posts...
seems like the battery cover don't fit well... etc...
wat else is there?
thanks
Btw, i'm a heavy FPS player... smile.gif

EDIT: is it possible just to buy the exactmat arm wrist only(not the mousepad)?
*
You shouldn't have much problems with the Mamba. Just keep track of the latest Firmware/driver at razerzone and you'll be fine.

Do note though that for it to work at its best, you'll need a hard pad; the best match (for me) being the Destructor.

The other common problem with the Mamba is a squeaking scroll wheel, though not all units are affected. Mine isn't, and it's been through hard use since June last year. No problem with the battery cover for me either.

Charging the battery can get a bit annoying though for long term use. The wired-charging is a good idea, but the execution here isn't very well thought of. Plugging the cable into the Mamba is simple enough, but plugging it out is quite a complicated affair. Factor in the short battery life (especially when playing FPS) and it does detract from the Mamba's overall appeal.

Other than that the Mamba is a great mouse. Highly recommendable. The wireless tech works a treat. Never knew I would have liked a wireless gaming mouse before I used the Mamba (I was totally fine with wired mice before, hated cheaper wireless mice, in fact).

don spam wif 1 line. later mod will find us.
yea, tats y... at /k/ kena ppl insult on razer. its not a good idea anywayz.
they do not know much about razer, so they don deserve to judge the product that way.

BlueBerry just made a mistake, one which I pointed out through PM - thus the edit. He was not spamming.

And /k/ is /k/. Why anyone of you would even bother defending Razer there, I have no idea. Fanboys do not belong there, or even here, in fact. Enough references to that (ill advised) thread already.

Yeah well, legend is legend.

No mate, not interested in the Abyssus. A review of the Imperator would be nice though.

Thinking of getting one for the new workplace. Or perhaps just a DeathAdder if I think it'll be too much of a hassle getting used to the Imperator's shape.

I'm just guessing that I should be able to get used to the DeathAdder pretty easily seeing that it's similar to the Mamba. I have yet to see the Imperator in person. I should be able to judge whether or not I like it when I do.

The Vespula looks pretty good. Though I'll still be getting another Destructor to pair with the Imperator.

I've never been a fan of 2 sided mats - that's one too many sides. The sooner you get used to one that you like, the better. And stick to that surface.

Regarding the Mamba's battery life, don't know about normal usage. Not using it with my laptop.

Gaming wise, I've personally never had it die on me while I'm gaming. But by extrapolating, I guess around 6-8 hours.

Not that these figures matter much anyway, since it can be charged by plugging the cable in.

I'm using my trusty old Lachesis on eXactmat with my laptop.

And no, the Mamba is not portable. At least not any more portable than say, a DA or Imperator. The charging dock is huge. And if you're gonna use it as a wired mouse you might as well just get a DA v2 or an Imperator.

i mean portable y not? u can separate the mouse and wire, then bring the mouse on a mouse pouch, wire jz dump inside bag.. as for DA, wan fit the wire into the pouch not easy xD hehe....
*
If you don't mind dumping the cable in your bag, you can just let the cable hang outside your mouse pouch and throw the whole thing into your bag. No different than packing the Mamba nicely and dumping the cable separately.

Unplugging the cable from the Mamba is not an easy task either. Plugging it in and out every time you set up/pack your laptop? Not something I'd do.

And getting a Mamba just to use it as a wired mouse is a waste of money. Only the legend does that.

If you want a proper portable mouse, get the Orochi.
