all AF-S lens can override but AF lens can only AF on D70 body and above...
your D3k cant autofocus on this lens...

well..i believe that nikkor lens can serve you quite a long time as i quite rare heard about ppl complaint about the nikkor lens...xcept those careless fall and those grow fungus lah...

i normally set it auto and shoot jpeg...not yet have so much time to play with raw...i am that type learn slowly one...tongue.gif

remember to read the manual...filter...any cheap filter will be ok...standard is hoya or kenko...
