My Review about Astro B.yond
1. I used Panasonic SDTV. 2. The TV can be programmed to the remote using option 2 (refer to installation manual). 3. Smart Card from other decoder can be inserted into the B.yond decoder (no HD channels). 4. Component cable works perfectly on SD channels and gives maximum picture quality that my TV can display (HD settings: 576p). 5. Changed satellite to #18 MEASAT-3A and gives 220-222 signal strength with 100% quality. Yet to be done: 1. Test SD channels via HDMI. 2. Test HD channels via SDTV. Suggestions: 1. Remove limitations on how many favourite channels should be set (like the old days). 2. Surf to favourite channels ch+ and ch- when enabled (like the old days). 3. Any suggestions you can reply. |

My Review about Astro B.yond (UPDATE)
6. HD Channels via SDTV with component cable connection shows sharp picture that SDTV can get (no distortion). Yet to be done: 1. Test SD channels via HDMI. Suggestions: 1. Remove limitations on how many favourite channels should be set (like the old days). 2. Surf to favourite channels ch+ and ch- when enabled (like the old days). 3. Ceiling functions (like the old days). |

Ceiling functions. If certain channels are unavailable, decoder will change the channel to the nearest to the number.
eg. you input 100, automatically go to 101 |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Jan 12 2010, 10:15 PM) I have just tried connecting my byond using component output to my panny LCD... Can u upload HD pq on component...Im just using the bundled Composite+RCA Audio cable (the yellow, red and white RCA cable).., Yellow I connected to Green colour connector White to Blue or black colour connector and Red to red colour connector... And surpriseingly, all the SD Channel (i repeat, SD Channels).., the PQ was a bit good than connecting via HDMI.., but for HD channels, many lost in PQ, it became a bit blurry... some pictures : ![]() ![]() |

B.yond needs to improve much if it want to attract more subscribers:
1. I want to browse TV guide without changing the channel that I currently watch. When I input channel numbers, the channels are changing as I want only the info of channel only... I hope you'all understands. 2. Favorites function. 3. Info function. 4. Blah3 |

QUOTE(RAMChYLD @ Jan 14 2010, 09:06 PM) Dunno about Oct 2009 firmware, but on Dec 2009 firmware pressing the TV button brings out an awesome guide that can be navigated using the arrow buttons on the remote. Yes... I meant that i don't need to change the channel when i input the number to browse the TV guide.... |

QUOTE(iqa1309 @ Jan 14 2010, 11:59 PM) From what I was told by my Installer, to update the decoder software you need to do the following: That's y i tried it doesnt work, i missd the 1-3 part... 1) Switch off the decoder at the main power supply 2) Switch on back the decoder 3) Immediately after the 'Boot' message appears on the decoder screen, press 'on/off' button followed by 'ch+' button and 'on/off' button again in quick succession 4) The decoder will reboot itself and the 'Auto Update' message should appear 5) If this does not work, it means that you already have the latest software version Please try and let me know whether it works |
