More like Nat Geo napping. Astro is most likely not allow to temper with the incoming video stream. I had a colleague who worked with Astro back when I was working for a college in 2006, and she said that Astro is not allowed to censor the video, only relay. Censoring is done by source (i.e. HBO, Nat Geo). If they even so cut off a programming to insert advertisements at wrong time, they can get into trouble.

Why would you complain tho? Shows that our country is finally progressing forward.

Are you sure? Coz I'm pretty sure that they cut more than one frame that day. It was a documentary on NatGeo SD showcasing the holocaust during Hitler's era. Narration before that stated that it was a picture of the place where they commited the mass murder. But the picture was not shown.

We are so used to waiting for installers to come install, actually here in Malaysia there are some customers who install themselves! My friend is teaching in the interior of Sarawak. When he applied Astro, the dealer said cannot install, coz need to use long boat to reach his school. So the installer connected and assembled everything. My friend just needed to bring back and fix the dish facing the correct way. He had to see other Astro dishes at that school to know the correct direction. Upon trial and error, he got signal strength 70 (SD). Ok la. Then smsed the dealer to activate.

Was going to release this when I got home tonight but since you asked

http://stinkyfruit.wordpress.com/2010/01/2...b-yond-decoder/

As a beta tester and an astro employee I'll try and do a few blog posts dedicated to B.yond and try and wrap up most of the major questions that are being repeated on here.

I don't work in our programming or marketing devisions so I'm sorry I'm not able to answer questions about installers, channel line up and pricing. Plus it just wouldn't be appropriate for me to do so. I will, when I get the chance, answer questions related to broadcast and tech. Drop a question on my blog if you like and I'll try to cover that topic in future posts
Cheers
Justin

Bro, any chance of improving the PQ over HDMI? Currently the majority says that thru Component is better.

get the decoder replaced...i had the same problems before, same with few other guys here..
if possible whenever the problems occur, snap some pictures as prove to the Astro repair guy.
If they dont want to replace, complaint like hell to Astro. The repair guy mentioned to me that they have direction from Astro to replace the decoder only when they can reproduce the issue. So, pictures or videos will come handy....

Yea man. Happened to me too. Hang issues, but could not reproduce the problem when the installer came to check. But he brought a replacement decoder with him. So I bugged and bugged till he agreed to replace. We played with the box for nearly an hour but no problems. Seemed like the box really behaved when the installer came. sweat.gif

BTW, football freaks, the Milan derby later, EXCLUSIVELY on ASSP HD. Woohoo!
