QUOTE(CV6149 @ Jan 12 2010, 03:06 PM) I set it at stereo mode connect it to my analogue speaker. Not using any home theater but just a puny pc speaker system. Try listening thru the TV speakers and see if you notice a delay. I think it could be your set up that is causing this.

QUOTE(dsubra @ Jan 12 2010, 03:25 PM) I can't get sound through TV from HD channels (SD channels ok) when opt for DD5.1 , is it normal? Sound only through my AVR theatre system and also not in 'discreet' 5.1 (not as DVD) i.e HBO HD, you guys have such problem? Is this normal? Yeah. You have sellected that channels that are dolby 5.1 be sent down the digital audio cable and that is only going to your home theatre. Set the decoder to stereo if you want to hear those channels via your TV and the audio will be sent in stereo via the HDMI connection. HDMI does not send 5.1 audio, you can't get dolby by using HDMI. It seems that most programmes on History and National Geo are real 5.1 but so far I've not noticed any on HBO. It is a programme by programme thing so even though a channel might be 5.1 the actual programme is where the audio comes from and if that isn't 5.1 then we won't get it. In this case the channels do a kind of stereo feed over 5.1 channels but it's not real "surround sound" as in 6 seperate channels of audio. This post has been edited by TVSPY: Jan 12 2010, 03:58 PM

so tell me again, why are people connecting the video feed via component cable?
Do you really think the picture quality is so noticable better or is just a matter of colour brigthness that can be tweaked on the TV itself?
Why go to the hassle of doing this when it mean having to change TV inputs when changing channels? and if you use Dolby it also means having to go into the menu and change the digital audio setting everytime you change inputs too.
The SD signal is compressed to all hell It's like polishing a turd to say that you notice a better PQ on SD by connecting via component and then I bet you also go and stretch the picture too.

QUOTE(zaj @ Jan 13 2010, 03:46 PM) nope the decoder doesn't support the bravia sync...however u can operate your sony tv/ht by using the decoder remote on/off,volume and av Set up like this Byond decoder HDMI to TV (HDMI 1 slot) and HDMI 2 out to HT plus digital audio from Byond to HT You need to correctly sync your TV to the home theatre using braivia sync (Surprisingly this is a pain of a task and if you haven't done it you will need the manual of both the TV and HT to do it) then lastly ensure you programme the sony remote. Sync the astro remote using the code 1825 or was it 1285? check the manual Then sync the remote to control the audio by pressing ok and vol up. This time it will control the audio of the HT instead of the TV. If you have set all menu functions correctly on the TV and HT your astro remote will now control HT power mute volumn on the TV power input sellection Byond all functions

QUOTE(dsubra @ Jan 16 2010, 12:53 AM) No. If you set to analog/digital you'll get stereo or Pro-logic (if u set ur AVR to theatre mode). But u'll get sound frm TV also for SD & HD channel. U must opt for DD5.1 to get DD5.1 through ur AVR (set ur AVR to Auto sorround mode to detect DD5.1) only for HD channels (but no sound frm TV 'cos HDMI can carry 5.1). U'll get sound for SD channels frm TV & AVR). DD5.1 will appear to all HD channels, but the real 5.1 effect for those ecoded DD5.1 (ie movies HBOHD or HD Geo etc). HDMI does not support 5.1 you can only get 5.1 via a digital audio coax. and there is no dolby on SD channels in fact dolby only happens on some programmes on HD. if you getting "surround sound" and you aren't using digital audio coax then your amp is simulating it via an effect and it isn't true This post has been edited by TVSPY: Jan 16 2010, 01:27 AM

You need to change the Digital In setting of your Home Theatre you will have an option in the custom settings on Sony to have Digital In via Coax or OPT. set it to OPT. It's the same issue. You have 2 digital connections one is HDMI & the other digital audio coax going into a SAT/cable slot. The home Theatre needs to set one of them as the priority for switching when power is turned on.

ah geez I take it all back about the HDMI settings. I had it perfectly set up before. I could turn the power on the TV and Home Theatre with one button and it would automatically select the HDMI channel input. Now it is going to the TV input and I have to change the input (with the astro remote) to hdmi ch.
All I know is this has nothing to do with the B.yond decoder and is TV an Home Theatre related, possibly needs a separate post about proper syncing of multi devices over HDMI

QUOTE(nyunyu @ Jan 18 2010, 02:55 AM) Can anyone tell me how to choose input on tv with byond remote? I know there is av button on the remote but how to "OK" it? Let's say I choose VGA, how to select that option? FOr me I don't need to OK anything just press AV multiple times till it lands on the input i want and then it will do the switch. Of course you need to have synced the remote before this option can work.

QUOTE(kokfei33 @ Jan 20 2010, 01:34 AM) Hi guys, i'm sill puzzle on the Surround Dolby Digital from the Byond set though i read thru your comments. I was just wondering why when I select Dolby Digital only there is no sound but when i select stereo and dolby sounds resume for HD channels. My question: 1) Do i still get Dolby sound when i select both stereo and dolby output? 2) What can i do to get this surround dolby sound thru the HDMI from the Byond box to my TV (Samsung Series 5) especially if i dont intend to get a AVR or an ampliflier, just strictly from the TV only. I also read on your comments to adjust the setting on the TV but there is no such thing as to select dolby output. Samsung has its own True Surround.... I just want to get the best audio quality for this new HD services 1) no 2) the only way to get dolby 5.1 is via a digital audio connection to you amp. Connecting via HMDI only sends a stereo signal.

QUOTE(stimix @ Jan 20 2010, 09:34 AM) That logo although greyish...but playing for long hour might burn Plasam screen wor... That is assuming it is a static graphic. Lots of tv stations do this and use moving grapics. Anyway you only do this on shows that aren't wide screen and why would you broadcast a wide screen picture if you have no programmes therefore it won't be used all the time and you won't burn anything into the TV.
