Hi guys, I don't really know much about TVs.

Can you recommend me a robust & budget 32 inch LCD TV? Robust as in won't give problems, budget as in as cheap as possible. tongue.gif

Any comment on this Philips 32PFL5609S/98? What's it's market price?

Alrite. Not gonna create new thread so TS, hope u dont mind if i share this thread with ya..

The LCD TVs i've looked into:
Panasonic TH-L32C10K
Samsung LA-32B450 4-series
Sharp LC-32A37M
Phillips 32PFL5409S

So which is recommended and why?

Personally, i like :
Pana C10 for its 2 layer screen = more durable

and Samsung 4-Series for its beautiful colours.

Do comment if u have any experience in any of these LCD TV's.

Thanks in advance.

I dunno. never been impressed with LGs before.

If you're a budget shopper like me then look at Samsung, Philips (Series 5 and above only).

when getting a LCD TV.. if possible, try to get one with at least 2 or 3 HDMI ports... I'm using one with 2 HDMI ports and I find it insufficient.. sad.gif

But for this size (32"), quite difficult to find 3 HDMI ports. 2 is common.. Most full HD 32" will have 3 HDMI...

But yet again.. i don't wanna spend a extra bucks for a 32" FHD.. if its a 42", different story.

*sigh.. i guess i'll be going for the C10 for its attractive price then...

FullHD 32"? I wouldn't really bother... cos from my testing, the difference in visual quality isn't really noticeable at all on a 32"... To really enjoy FullHD, get something larger like 42" at least.

Why is dat so? S10K=FHD, C10K=HD Ready.

But Astro only showing up to 720p or 1080i

Mind to share ur justification?

FHD or HD ready on a 32" is not noticeable really.. Not worth to consider unless u really need the 1080p reso.

I don't get why you guys say Full HD no difference? Even LCD monitors are full HD on 21.5inch or something. I don't see why there's no difference? Isn't it depending on what content you watch? If my video is a 1080p resolution but I watch it on 720p resolution, won't it have black bars or something?

Sometimes when you buy TV, it's for 10 years. So you gotta have a TV that's ready for future usage.

yes, totally agree with you.
I got my old LCD bought from 2 year ago. Now decide to buy 42" LCD.
The important point is my LCD now only got 1 HDMI port, so i need more to plug to my Astro B.yond, digital camera, DVD player...there already 3 port. I dont want to buy the HDMI extension or splitter.
Later if i got HD player, then i might need more HDMI. So the HDMI is most important, at least 3.
also the Full HD also good for the future use, can watch blu ray disc.

Hmm..

let me put it this way:

32" FHD and 32" HD ready - can't really see the difference when playing a 1080p output. Yes, HD ready tv will drop it to 720p.

42" FHD and 42" HD ready - CAN notice the output quality when playing similar to above file.

THis is due the the pixel mapping on each LCD. Thus, 32" view area is smaller than 42", pixel mapping difference on 32" is too minor compared to 42" view area.

Correct me if im wrong.

Also, black bars is usually caused by the Aspect Ratio (16:9, 4:3, 16:10, etc.)

Are you getting the tv for PS3 or astro? if your into gaming and play soccer games such as WE2010 i would not recommend Sharp 32A37M...colour wise is nice but then the motion lag is really bad in my opinion.......im not sure abt the other tv as i only own the sharp
