I lol'ed. Blizzard never ask password or anything personal via e-mail. They usually ask for your IC and fax to them if they want a confirmation.
Thx for the info btw.

At first i thought that it was just another one of those phishing e-mails but then later in the day i tried logging into battle.net and i couldn't log in so i retrieved the password. Logged in, went into account management, and found that my account had been locked. And that someone had used the free 7 day pass that i was saving up for and had paid a subscription as of 1st July 2010.

Funny thing is, I've not logged onto WOW since late last year. I've never shared accounts. So i'm really wondering how my account was compromised.

How can i tell if the e-mail is real or not? because i was under the impression that the information that they are asking for is the usual e-mail phishing scam information.

That email seems legitimate to me. Notice that it is mailed by Blizzard.com.. not from hotmail.com or whatever. But i dont know if [WoWAccountReviewEU@blizzard.com] is legit or not.. you better check this from WoW EU support page to verify this. Also the links provided are also from original sources. no suspicious there...

thanks for looking at the e-mail. I'm naturally suspicious about phishing accounts and i couldn't figure out any fake markers.

What i'm trying to figure out is how they managed to hack my account considering I've not logged-in in over 9 months. and I'm usually quite paranoid about my computer security and i don't share my passwords...

I get this kind of emails EVERYDAY now.. but I've created another email just for WoW and Blizz updated, that new mailbox has no spam yet... but for this old one still receive at least one everyday. I'm tired of reporting phishing scams everytime i open my mailbox... they still come in no matter what. tsk tsk...

Yup. Don't need to look at the email address, the grammar in the email is enough to give it away. nod.gif
