From that spec sheet, both as similar in spec, only the 5.0 speaker is different. The sub is the same. Well I would prefer the HTZ-787 with proper speaker location rather than the HTZ-585. But if mounting rear speakers is impossible for you, then the choice would be the 585. |

Don't think to hard...its a no brainer between the two...you wanna fix a rear speaker or not?...if yes..then grab the 787.
Frankly speaking, forget abt HT, get a AV Receiver. A Pioneer VSX518 with full speakers and Subs can get around 2K. No DVD drive?....forget abt DVD and go for Media Player like WDTV live, ACRyan, Xtreamer etc...at least those pump out real Full HD stuff into your Plasma TV. |

i'm before using HTZ-787 and sound is good but lack of input like HDMI and optical IN.
so, few days ago i bought pioneer AVR 819 and use same HTZ speaker and that very good for HD sound. better wait until have more budget and AVR and your fav speaker |
