Good to hear that, Ace. One less fanboy in this world is a much needed relief, since you'd be supporting gaming in general, not the consoles.

Why dang? Should be good news for pirates and users from this side of the globe. Otherwise people might just pack up and publicly claim gaming being too expensive and quit altogether.

QUOTE(obefiend @ Mar 11 2007, 06:45 PM) MEH! i wont play a console with crap gfx. same as i wont buy a geforce 6200 over a 8800gtx. how is that for analogy! Your analogy might be true if the Wii and Xbox360/PS3 differs by graphical power only. But playing on Wii is not the same as playing on the rest, it is the experience with motion sensor that makes the experience different. Does your 8800GTX, with all its rendering power, able to play games that simulate motion sensing in 3D space? How's that for a comeback? |

I have all three, PS3, Xbox 360 and a Wii. Weird enough, i too am like you, i like pretty graphics. But i suggest you reserve your comments till you actually TRIED your hands on the Wii and the games it has before making that blanket statement. Between the three, Wii felt more involving and draws you into the game with its experience, unlike pressing buttons and seeing it happens on screen, Wii demands you move your lazy arse off the couch to do the very act performed on screen.
If you have not tried it, shut it. It's easy to dismiss something at face value just by seeing it at first glance. |

If next generation is all about graphics, where do we stop? You may have the best looking humans in PS9 or Xbox 1080, but if the soul, the gameplay mechanics, is empty, and we still move chartacters by buttons and joysticks, the whole video game industry as a whole would have never moved forward since the introduction of a joystick in Pong.
Agreed that some may not "get" what Wii is all about, and most of these folks are from the PC background. I guess most of us are lucky that we can be entertained with myriad other kinds of entertainment devices, while others get their joy only from mice and keyboards. To each his own i guess. Me? I dont wanna miss out on the fun. |

You are avoiding the issue. Where do you stop? Are games going to be empty shells of a beautifully rendered polygons with no soul? I for one wants advancements not only in graphics, but in ways we interact with our games. You feel alive when you bowl with the Wiimote instead of pressing a few buttons on a controller. It gets you in the game.

They are not anal, you are. You think these other equipment can replace a Wiimote, just because it has rudimentary features that resembles some parts of another equipment? Think again, buddy.
Wacom tablet can sense movement? The age old mouse can sense movement, which in turn moves the cursor on screen. What's the big deal? It's movement in 3D space we are talking about here, not plain boring 2D plane like your mouse. Weak! You came in here with your claims and so on, but you fail notice, this section is called Console Couch. It is not PC couch where you so came from with your Wacom tablet and keyboard mouse. Of course when you trivialize something that was universally agreed upon, which is the innovation of a motion sensing controller in 3D space (not 2D plane, like your paltry Wacom), that you would get countered upon the folks here. It is not just left right up down, brother. It is in and out as well, 3D space. I suggest you try Wii Play, Warioware and Rayman Rabbid to see what it is about. I suspect all you have "supposedly" tried is waving the wiimote pointer in a Wii Dashboard, is all. If you are comfortable with the age old tried and true controls of a keyboard and mouse, so be it. I've grown bored of using a keyboard and mouse in a game, it's vomit inducing. I've grown boaed of the countless RTS and MMOs your preferred platform has to offer as well. If you are comfortable with staying within this stale comfort zone, then carry on. Some of us crave a different experience with our games, not just "prettier graphics".
