Guys, any nice 90mm to 135mm range of prime to mention?

I'm in love with my prime and thinking to get wide and long range too. While my upcoming CZ for travel..

I'm not really using range more than 150mm on my 18-250 actually

tammy sp90..minolta/sony 100mm..135mm STF..135mm F1.8..135mm F2.8..??

Which one have better image, sharpness, bokeh and build quality? Maybe around 3-4k.. but not now. If I got something to aim, I can menabung easily  laugh.gif

i'd suggest 135..but u gotta try it on apsc see whether u ok with the range or not..

get STF if u love the bokeh more than anything else(and don mind to manual focus)...find a used F2.8 copy if budget is a constraint(i've seen the image by this lens..looked not bad at all)....get a F1.8 if u have no concern on budget..its faster(1.8 vs 4.5 vs 2.8) and produce better optical quality imo..

get those macro i mentioned only if u use macro > portrait..personally i feel that it can shoot portrait..but the result isnt pleasing as those portrait lens..

or u can consider about cz85mm..its very close to the range given..great lens but i never choose it coz im on FF and the range is close to my 50mm on apsc which i feel that i prefer longer range..

hi guys...new user here...i just bought a550 with SAL18250.so any pro can suggest me good quality and budget portrait lens?

TQ
*
depend on how "budget" is ur budget..lol..

for really cheap n value for money..u can consider 50mm F1.8..slightly higher budget can go for 50mm F1.4...ur "budget portrait lens" means rm4~5k..by all means..take a look at 85mm F1.4 and 135mm F1.8 tongue.gif

Why is everybody looking for a mid tele prime and I'm looking for a wide angle prime? Somewhere around 20mm on FF would be nice!

135mm on aps-c is really quite long. It's about 200mm on FF terms. To get approx. 135mm view, the 85mm would be about there.

You would be hard pressed to find good usage for the 135mm on aps-c if you are indoors. You hardly have enough distance to back away! If you are inside a typical bedroom then you might as well keep the 135mm in your bag.
*
35mm G ?? whistling.gif

well..depend on the individual i guess..not everyone shoot in bedroom often..and who knows they might have a bedroom that is bigger than our garden tongue.gif
other than considering the place u'd be in shooting(to see whether u have enough space to move around)..its also good to consider how long b4 u move to FF....so that u know u'd be looking at FF friendly lenses..as well as reconsider the range again since it'd be totally diff when u move to FF.. wink.gif

still considering la tongue.gif cuz now if i let go my a300 still can get a decent price. if after a450 comes out, then a300 has no place anymore i think.
besides, i'm not really satisfy with the iso performance of a300 and i not getting any flash soon...

hehe...
*
get 550 lo...if u don have time to travel back to msia to buy...MS color is selling around 1170sgd for body only.. tongue.gif

hmm...my fren's gonna get a dslr soon buy he's bugged with a question that im interested to know too...

we noticed that Ns' and Cs' have the image stabilizer built into their lens, while Alpha's have it inside the body...

but does IS on lens has advantage over IS in body, or are they on par? other than d obvious fact that IS in lens allows u to see d stabilizing effect in ur viewfinder and IS in body doesnt...??
*
i've come across alot ppl claiming that SSS is inferior to VR/IS..well..they might be true as i have nothing to prove them wrong..but again..SSS is more than enough for me to produce a stable shot..so i havnt feel the need for "betteR" stabilizer

i did a simple test along side my operator's D90..my a300 and my technician's 5Dm2..all of us were shooting at 150mm(if i remember correctly) and 2 of them with their VR/IS on..we exchange our cameras a few times as well as increase the aperture(so that the shutter slow down)..we don feel much diff there.....so i assume even SSS is not as good as those 2..it shdnt be too far behind either..
and i know this test wasnt very accurate as we dont have a "standard" to measure the results..all of the results were based on our "feel"...and it might b diff from user to user...

achew, remember my desktop picture? remember the left side corner? i print from the sony printer during the workshop, since they let us use if, FOC... tongue.gif and the color maintain better then the chemical ones.

Kevinwcw: just a rumor. but i am pretty sure a mirror-less one is coming out, aiming for worldcup, since sony is now one of the main sponsor. it can do 10fps and FULL HDvideo ^^. (or worst to worst, it could be just another semi pro... @.@ stupid rumor)

650 is a bad rumor, but A750 is comfirmed rumor as the US sony website accidentally leak it.
*
small photo printer is good..but its troublesome to print out..my canon selphy can only hold less than 20 photo paper at once..and the print speed isnt very good also...but so far im satisfied with the quality tongue.gif

it nice, and quick, and clean. no mess like using big printer, need align, etc. and summore, bubblejet is afraid of water, and aircond room spoils it. so this is film+heat type, so it's good biggrin.gif
*
how many times it needs to move in n out b4 the photo finished printing? my canon needs to moves 4 times..first 3 times for 3 basic color..last time for lamination...

I am not pro but i am pro wannabe .. hahaha .. tongue.gif ...

to get what ever picture u want, u have to understand 3 things, shutter speed, aperture and ISO .. master these 3, u will get what ever u want .. using any brand of camera .. that is my opinion .. smile.gif ..

about the color, play arround with picture style, software, etc ..

QUOTE(wha7ever @ Jan 13 2010, 08:14 PM)
IMO, I agree that 20k is enough. One A850 + 16-35 f/2.8 + 70-200 f/2.8 + 50 f/1.4 is sufficient to cover all common focal range. Exclude the flash/tripod/etc.

24-70 f/2.8 is in between the range of the two earlier and it's common for people to shoot in both extreme ends. The 50 f/1.4 complement the set nicely, not to mention f/1.4 vs f/2.8 advantage. Of course no one would stop you if you got the mullah to collect more lenses smile.gif

2470 is very very handy if u gonna shoot event..if i had to pick 2..i'd pick 2470 n 70200.....
