Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Teddy Bear Rabbit and Jessey Woolly? I saw people selling this Teddy Bear breed so expensive and claimed it is new and hot breed.

Btw, I have one bunny adopted from a petshop (petshop's customer give up his/her bunny). Not sure what breed, but quite nice and tame rabbit. Now looking for a soulmate for her. If I put 2 female together, do you think they will fight? If I put a junior female in, the chances of fight is less, right?

I have another question (sorry that I am quite clueless about rabbit), what do you call the color like those Himalayan cat type of color marking rabbit? I wish to have one like this but must be fluffy long fur.

well it's not recommended to give grains but if u insist it's your choice..it's not poison just not the recommended food..long side effects maybe u can tell us next time from your experience since u are feeding it..

Bengy and super premium mix is 2 different brands right..u giving both pellets to ur rabbit?

since it's a hot new breed i think u can try google and see the breed and the characteristic..i visit petshops around when i'm free or if i pass by any..so far i didn't see any teddy bear breed yet..if u want to claim a new breed there are many steps to follow..we chat about this in the old posts maybe u can check..so happen is also about the teddy bear rabbit..Jersey woolly definately can find..u can search on the net and see what are the characteristics then u know the rabbit's quality and if it's worth paying for..

my female rabbit doesn't like other rabbit even if they are male or female..last time when i had 3 rabbits..i have to let them out 1 by 1..if not they will fight...many incident that rabbits that are brought up together fight also..but this is less common then newly introduced ones...to me it depends on your rabbit itself...if u have a female..i suggest u get a neutered male to accompany it...but rabbits are ok alone too as long as u give them proper attention and care.

I'm clueless about cats so i dunno whats a himalayan cat..

to me teddy bear is not a breed...hey probably named it just to attract customers..maybe u can call your guinea pigs "baby doll gp" and ppl would go crazy for it..hahaha..just an example
*
Hahaha... that's a good suggestion! rclxms.gif

My current bunny is a bit small size, as compared to the Anggora mix Hotot breed I had last time. But I like it that way. Is Lop ear bunny very big size? Is it as big size as Rex?

why dun u post up some pictures of your bunny..we would love to see it

Sigh...cannot upload photo, even imageshack also take ages to upload. I saw on Mudah.com, one Holland Lop very cute, it has the color I like most (the one look like Baa Baa Black sheep/Little Lamb), but the price...currently cannot afford. One day, when I saved enough $ then may be I will buy that type.

teddy bear and woody toys are cross breed and it cannot claim pedigree....you can see a lot many in thailand and i personally know a chinese is importing to malaysia,.,,,beside jersey wooley comes under pedigree, with large fluffy hair.if u ask me ypu can choose jersey wolley,if u go to petwonderland, they correctly identify the breed of rabbit, probably u may get jersey wooley there@justiny

Yup..that Gombak petshop importer told me the price is RM350 for a Teddy Bear. Which I think it is way too overpriced for a non-pedigree. May be it is still quite rare, that's why the pricing is high.

Actually I don't care its pedigree or mixed, as long as it appeals to me, and the pricing which I think is reasonable then I will buy. But still my budget is RM150 max. whistling.gif

xhuggybearx,

I am sorry to say that I am totally against accidental litters. I am not sure what is happening but unplanned litters are totally signs of irresponsible pet ownership. It is very plain and simple, when you put 2 animal of different gender together, they are bound to breed. With that in mind, you should have been prepared. Deaths in litters like this is normally not the problem with the rabbit being a first time mother. The problem lies in the owners being unequipped and unprepared. Please know that these are domesticated animals that we humans have raised and they are fully dependent on us. How do you expect rabbits to continue having their natural instinct in a unnatural environment that we humans provide? What shall we do? We need to mimic the natural environment for them so that it will complement their natural instincts.

*
Fully agreed with you on responsible pet-ownership attitude. At lot of people always like a pair of male and female, and they think is nice to have babies, but then they never think ahead of "what if..." after that. doh.gif

here's the proof i just googled lop ear bunny

http://images.google.com.my/images?hl=en&c...ved=0CBIQsAQwAA

there u go..both the pictures are there

Oh..Thanks Yueyi for the spotlight!

I suspect so, usually this type of rare color marking is really hard to find in Malaysia. A lot of the pictures that potrait on nice background are usually not real.

Here are my bunny's picture.

It's digging a hole!

Today is my son's birthday. I bought a pair of male rabbits for him as his birthday present. I know in the end I am the one will be taking care of them. biggrin.gif I always find an excuse to buy something for myself, like that my hubby will not scold me that I keep on buying/adding pets.

My son likes the brown color Lion Head, he wants it to look like a lion as seen on the internet site. But deep down inside my heart, I am not very sure whether is it a pure Lion Head or not, even though the seller told me so. I am also afraid that later my son will be disappointed, if his Lion Head grown up doesn't look like a Lion Hair style. laugh.gif

Thanks for confirming that. Will try to keep its fur fluffy. Purposely choose this color, so that it will look more like a lion when its fur grow bushy. laugh.gif

Last night I received my baby Teddy Bear rabbits which I ordered from the direct importer last week. Now I intend to collect all the breeds I like! I ordered a Woody Toy and Mini Holland Lop too, may be will get them by next week. Hubby still doesn't know about that, he hardly go inside my little zoo garden. But even if he found out, sometimes he pretends he didn't see them. laugh.gif

I must say that the Teddy Bear rabbits are very tiny in size, but they seem very healthy even though they came from Thailand farm. They are actively jumping around, and eating "kuat" too! The white color one looks like Mashimaro cartoon character. wub.gif I think this pair is male too.

Out of curiosity, did you check how old these bunnies are? They look a bit young actually from 2 indications:
- their fur is still rather fuzzy. The baby fur coat tends to look like this.
- the size proportions of their head to their body. Their heads tends to be rather big compared to the rest when they're babies.
*
The seller said 1 month old. He brought along some 2 months old, and 5 months old to show me the size of the rabbit (those are his pets). My gosh, his Kancil car was full of rabbits, easily 40, I think. He delivered around Klang Valley before came to my place, nearly 10pm. I could see his wallet was full of Thai Baht! He obviously came directly from Kayu Hitam to KL within a day. Luckily the rabbits I bought from him, today still actively eating and poo nicely. I checked regularly just to be sure the young rabbits are in good shape. These Teddy Bear are braver than the other pair, they are not scare of my dogs barking sound at all.

Ahh.. ok, that explains their looks. Anyways, the general rule of thumb is to only get rabbits that are at least 2 months of age. If so far so good, then nothing much to worry then I guess, but it'll be a good idea to keep this in mind for future rabbits though.
*
Yup..I remembered I read about the young age rabbit easily died of shock or environmental change, the risk is there to buy at such a young age, there are 1 or 2 two months old for me to choose, but it doesn't have the color I wanted.

There is no such thing as Mini Holland Lop. But there is something called Miniature Lop. Miniature Lops have 2 types. UK Miniature Lop is the same as Holland Lop. USA Miniature Lop is a larger lop ear rabbit. Hope this is not confusing.
*
Oh..I see, so even it is Miniature Lop, the size is actually also larger than an adult cat? I thought it would be like a kitten size doh.gif

do u guys have special rooms for your pets?means u dont get to go for vacation often lor since need to find someone to take care of the animals
*
Well..I only have 1 son (already 11 years old!). Cannot have any more kids, so my hubby allows me to keep pets! By the way, I am not a housewife, I do work but work from home most of the time as I work US hours (which is midnight our time). I purposely bought a corner house 2 years ago, then build an air-cond dogs room for my dogs, and allocate some part of the garden for my rabbit and guinea pigs etc. My pets and gardening hobby helps to de-stress me, as my work is quite stressful, purely online project managing globally.

I have an Indon maid at home, doing most of the cleaning chores. Still can go vacation....what you need is more $$ to support this kind of lifiestyle. I spent about RM1k-1.5k a month on my pets' food.

Ya..ya..my Pets are very lucky to have me as their Master. As for my GPs and rabbits, I feed them with my own garden home grown organic veg weekly, free of chemical, and then use the GPs and rabbits' poo as organic fertilizers. Quite an eco-garden!

u should offer lots and lots of hay also...

i feel your anggora mix aka teddy bear is kinda young..but it has been discussed by fyire already..how big is your bunny's cage?now u have 7 rabbits?

your dogs can get along with them ar?
i have 2 dogs that are best friend with my local rabbit..other 3 dun really like him..haha...maybe coz they were staying in the same house many years already
*
Now have 5 rabbits at home, 4 babies in one cage temporarily. 2 rabbits I have ordered but not yet arrived to my home yet, may be next week or next month. Wanted to buy 1 more cage, but some petshops are not opened yet.

I do feed hay to babies, luckily they know how to eat, but my senior female bunny doesn't really like to eat hay, very strange...I think previous owner never fed her with hay before. One piece of hay cake can last her 4 days to finish!

Every time I let the bunny out from cage and freely roaming in the garden, my dogs have to be caged inside their room. Or else they will bark non-stop. They can't stand to see the bunnies come out from cage.

Rabbits' poo is the best fertilizer. thumbup.gif Very effective and harmless to the plants even put too much. Whereas chemical fertilizer can easily kill the flower plants if overdose. Guinea pig's poo is not that effective as compare to rabbit's poo though. ohmy.gif

Outside my house corner I also planted some veg and fruit tree. I fenced it up, and initially thought of putting rabbit cage there, but I'm afraid people will steal my rabbits, I don't think is a good idea and not safe to put them outside, even lock up the cage.

Actually that low fence I set up is meant for my cavies roaming area. But since the young bunnies still young and small size, I put them there just for short intro to the senior there. The senior female never met them before.

3 years ago I ran out of cage, and I always put the rabbits which were given by the petshop whom customer's doesn't want to rare in my cavies cage, they were getting along fine. No fight nor any injury. But I noticed the rabbit put on too much weight because it ate GP pellets more. The rabbits were kept in there for 4-6 months untill found adopters.

Now I don't put them together because I have sufficient cage and space for that. After all their pellet diet is totally different. Should not mix, not healthy for either party.

Today I bought another 2 rabbits, I was told is a Turkish Anggora (white) and a mixed English Anggora (Frosted Pearl Point). I just simply love long fluffy fur rabbits! They are 2 months plus.

Currently I am feeding them Oxbow brand of pellets. My Teddy Bear rabbits are really tiny, how do I pump them up? I noticed most of the rabbitry farm feed their rabbits those Bengy brand type of pellets. Would those pellets help to pump up the rabbit for meat?
