Not sure if this has been discussed before, so I thought I'd start a new thread on this. Can anyone please share with me how best to record these HD channels? I know there is a ACRyan recorder (don't have one, just the POHD) and wonder if such recorders can record HD contents.

Btw, the 1080i signals are easily processed/deinterlaced by my low-end Panny 50" plasma (768p) - don't see any zaggies or motion stutter at all. I am pleased indeed.

the best part is that you dont have to fiddle with any settings if you wanna switch between HDMI and composite.
they're on all the time.

only the audio may pose a problem if you enable 5.1 sweat.gif

Why dont u just wait until the recording feature is enabled in future Astro B.yond update? You can just buy an external HDD and hook it up to the decoder to save videos.

the way things are progressing, the recording feature may only be introduced many moons or years later.....

My recording can go few ways:
- VCR! With bulky Video tapes! So 80s! (usually although for short term)
- Power Macintosh G3 from VCR RCA.
- Windows Media Center, receive RF from VCR Line in (yea, VCR become Astro distribution hub...)

For my aunt, I rigged a not-so-elegant S-Video link straight from an Astro box to a OneDVR-6626 DVD recorder. Works like a charm.

Already working out a way to get the HDCP/HDMI to work with my HTPC, but so far it's only theoretical, and just developed it after lunch (was surfing net and found a device that may help).

Component input on my HTPC which is equipped with Leadtek's PVR2100 tuner/capture card. The only card with component input I can find here in Malaysia. smile.gif

I'm using Samsung DVDRecorder (2 yrs old) to record my favourite programme, however I have to manually switch channel/programme using Astro remote. Can't do any multiple channel programme recording from DVDRecorder.
