What is the diffrent between R501 and R501mkii.
Anyone use this speaker for home theater (i.e connect to TV/dvd) how is the performance like? is it neccessary to connect it with Power Amp?

Commend pls

the main difference is the R501 MKII has tweeter on all the satellites. biggrin.gif

u don't need a separate amp to use it. the amp is built into the subwoofer.

and yes, some do use it for home-theatre. u can come to the Edifier Showroom 4th Floor, Low Yat Plaza to test on our dvd player and tv and nice sofa. just like a home theatre. biggrin.gif

if the dvd player only have either RCA red and white cable or digital output for audio, then which connectors on the R501MKII should I plug in to deliver 5.1 surround sound effect/enviroment with centre speaker also fully working?

thanks
*
Your DVD player needs to have 6 RCA ports at the back in order for you to use the R501 directly on it to fully utilize the surround sound.
The 6 RCA connectors should be as follows:
- 1xRed + 1xWhite = Front Speaker Output
- 1xRed + 1xWhite = Rear Speaker Output
- 1xRed + 1xWhite = Centre/Subwoofer Speaker Output

firstly i'm proud to own an edifier mkII, recently i have change dvd player due to old 1 quite sensitive, secondly when connected to my new jvc dvd player, i have two extra cable which unconnected, well, play anything no problem but without on the speakers no sound even from tv? scrathing head notworthy.gif

That's because your speakers are doing the sound output now.
In order for your TV to have sound, the audio output cable from your dvd player has to go into the TV.

i got 1 question to ask. i unable to turn on my R501. will it be my remove control problem. how much will cost me if i buy a new one. Now totally cant used..... hai .....

New one costs RM29. Refer here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=287501

You can get it from the Edifier Showroom ni Low Yat Plaza 4th Floor.
However, do call up the Showroom in advance to place your order there as the Showroom usually doesn't have ready-stock for remote controllers.

TV + DVD player + R501 MKII

i mean when watch TV, sound will come out from R501, and when watch DVD sound will come out from R501 too
*
Very easy.

Just make use of the additional stereo inputs like Line 1 and Line 2 on the R501MKII (one of the amazing upgrades of the R501).
You need to get yourself another similar cable like the one u plug to your dvd player, then your TV is set with the R501MKII already! biggrin.gif

Just plug as what you are supposed to plug and you'll be fine. If you try some funny wiring, then.. sweat.gif

Elo... need some guide here.
My R501 MKII...  sound that should come out frm Center speaker coming out frmRear Left speaker.
And for Rear Left become Center Speaker....  rclxub.gif ....
Theres no sound frm Rear Right also.
Cables problems ka? The wires that connect to back of woofer all correct according to the label.

Help plz thanks... very2 noobie in audio stuff  notworthy.gif

Most probably it's cabling problem.
How about you unplug everything one shot, then plug back all again. There have been many users that complain they can't seem to find the fault (because it's hard to detect), but once unplug all cable and plug back, ok liao. thumbup.gif

However, if really you keep trying and trying still cannot, maybe you can go to the Showroom and ask the guy there to show you how with the Showroom demo unit.

SW @ level 5...

bass abit soft... sad.gif
*
The bass on most built-in soundcards are crappy. XD

Try to get a SB Live 5.1 at least, and the speakers can show their true power easily.

Btw, the R501's bass would be optimum at around level 7-9. It's just how they are designed. biggrin.gif

bro, fyi i tried my previous ADA885 n Megaworks 501D on my AMD system...with built in nVidia nForce2 ultra...n im sure tis 945p is way better than nForce2... btw, i tried increasing the SW setting on the spk, in it works like a charm....now working perfectly... biggrin.gif

glad all worked out well, man. biggrin.gif

the R501's sub control mostly gets turned on and ready to rumble when set at volumes of 7-10. biggrin.gif

this is unlike other speakers like Altec Lansing, where a lil increase in sub volume will give overloaded bass. sweat.gif
