I have seen many CIMB World & Visa Infinite cards around and also those of Standard Chartered. But till today, i hardly see anyone having RHB's Visa Infinite although it's the first to bring it to Malaysia. I heard the limit RHB give is at least 200k. Anyone has any info on this???

Ok this is a very subjective question but generally, what's the starting Credit Limit bank usually gives to a Visa Infinite or World Mastercard cardholder? Is it 100k CL?

Anybody care to explain how enrich miles works?
What I can get with 1000 enrich miles?
*
enrich is malaysia airlines' frequent flyer's programme just like krisflyer to singapore airlines. you may use the miles you accumulated to redeem for free flight tickets or upgrade to better class i.e business or first class.

1000 enrich miles can't get you much, most redemption are in the 5 or 6 figures.

Added on January 14, 2010, 11:27 amtgeoklin, you have world enrich mastercard with 300k CL?

Put it this way, I had not applied for a card in ages. Thus I cannot know if they would offer me such a limit should I apply for their card. But from my understanding of how banks work, if you have say a RM1M deposit with them, chances are good that you will be granted a minimum of RM300K CL. The highest CL I ever came across was RM1M for a big time tycoon back once upon a time  brows.gif
*
I see, meaning in this case you don't apply using income documents but use your deposit strength in the bank is it?

1M for the tycoon? Wow. what bank is that?

Yes, you are right. I had never applied for a card based on income. All my cards were preapproved by the banks and its been very hard to reject due to relationship issues. Thus I am taking this govt initiative to cut myself some slack. Plus I am getting old and travelling so much lesser, thus cards are no longer that essential to me. As to the bank concern, its none other than the biggest bank in M'sia  tongue.gif

They're trying to retain the current base by offering auto CL increase. The same tactic is being used by CIMB and CIMB DA.
*
often they auto CL increase when you don't carry your outstanding balance right? meaning you pay in full every month?

Not necessarily. CL upgrade actually depends on many factors but so happen CIMB is one of the major targets for card cancellations no choice but to use it as customer retention tool.
Err ... what's wrong in paying in full every month ?
*
CIMB major target for cancellation? Really? How come?

Nothing wrong in paying full every month, good practice actually!

@rockefeller,
First, there's no point in keeping so many CCs so something will have to go.  Also, some of us here don't care what cards we hold in our wallets; as long as it's usable who cares if it's exclusive or not?! tongue.gif

I agree!

i dont understand some people still have the common perception that having local bank's cards like maybank and cimb may be inconvenient when abroad as they're not known there. i've been using local bank's cards during my travel abroad and they make no difference compared to when i flash my amex or cards from foreign banks.

I think many choose to retain their Maybank credit card as many of them have an account with Maybank and they feel Maybank is bigger, the convenience of M2U and easier to make payment because Maybank is bigger in terms of branch presence etc. Nothing to do with brand name when using their card abroad as neither are really well known outside of Southeast Asia.
*
Agreed. I was just ranting actually, not related to the reason why many choose to cancel CIMB smile.gif

Perhaps another reason for people to be cancelling their CIMB CCs and not their MBB CCs is due to the non expiry of points with MBB whilst CIMB points are valid only for 3 years?!
*
WHAT?! I FAILED TO REALIZE THAT! SILLY ME! hahaha

where airmiles is concerned, amex's membership rewards makes much more sense than maybank's treatpoints.

7000 treatpoints = 1000 miles

5600 MR points = 1000 miles

@epalbee3,
It's a good habit; like i said the rule is to make sure you have enough cash to purchase whatever you want before swiping that CC.

I've lived by that rule my entire life and thus far have no issues with paying up my CC bills.

@rockefeller,
So how many miles do I need wor?! I'm not too familiar with all these airline miles - I ain't as widely travelled as U people.  Gee.... and I just used up like 625,000 MR points on the Tag Heuer - should have kept the points for this option! *siGh*
*
to fly to ny on singapore airlines, you'd need around 70000 krisflyer miles which is 392,000 MR points.
