Same thing happening to CIMB Direct Access. Seeing another 3 pre-approved platinum cards (2 principal + 1 supp) popping out in cimbclicks.
Just canceled 2 cards and now gets another 3.  doh.gif  doh.gif

I think that's a loop hole that the Bank defers the GST for another 12 months. Card approved this month (Dec 09) will be charged RM50 next year Dec. tongue.gif.

just requested my Citibank gold card to upgrade to Platinum.

My credit limit now is RM20k.

think they will approve within few days.

or they will receive two cancellation letters.. wink.gif

I've rejected countless pre-approved upgrade to Citi-Gold. Till today I still carry the Citi-Classic that applied 12 years ago. Recently they revised my credit limit to RM30k. brows.gif

First year fee should be waived.

However, may I have to keep using it to get waiver coming years..

The fee is about RM600, if not waived.

If they insist to charge, I will cancel all cards..

Remember, I am an active user and clear off every month..

To bank, you're only consider as normal customer. In their terms, customers that pay minimum + finance charge are GOOD customers.

Take the chance now if you need a Platinum card. (sometimes can show off - well, at the right places)

They are so desperate to retain customers that they will give you a plat since you have 30k credit limit.

I only have 20k; not even made any request.
*
Hehe... I don't need another plat, been using UOB plat since last year. Sometime need to use classic card to keep low profile.

I owned Citibank Visa Platinum before. It was FOC for first eyar. AFs for second year onwards were waived by swiping at least 24 times of any amount per annum.

What's the reason you cancelled it?

Don't know why I uses different bank for different purpose.

CIMB-saving
Citi- CC
EON- car loan
Public -house loan
Maybank - cheque
hong leong - buying shares

Anyone know anyway I can consolidate all these into one bank..
Very tired to maintain all these banks..

You're not alone. I myself only slightly simple than yours.

UOB - Savings, CC, housing loan & car loan (staff account) cool2.gif
RHB - Current. Hardly use until a/c turned dormant many times rclxub.gif
PBB - Housing loan (x2) thumbup.gif
CTB - CC

someone mentioned about standard chartered platinum minimum limit. this is a bit embarrassing, i was given a pre-approved standard chartered platinum mastercard having a limit of only 5k. either the bank is really desperate or i am just a small fry which i guess is true  laugh.gif .

Could it be the card embosser mistakenly took the Plat card face for your Classic card. tongue.gif Just kidding.

I think the CL increase is based on spending pattern & repayment bahaviour. I had never request any CL increase since day 1 collected the CTB classic card. Thru the past 12 years, the initial CL RM4k was auto increased multiple times till current RM30k.

Many banks increasing CL of their cardholders. So far UOB, Citibank and HLB have increased my credit limit this month.

Anyway, in your letter stating increase in CL for your HLB, did the same said letter mentioned that if you are the first to swipe RM15K you win a Rolex watch and first 50 cardmembers to swipe RM2,000 get 20,000 points?

Frankly I'm very sick of this kind of contest vmad.gif , spend the most, be the 1st or x-th & blah, blah.... Why don't they directly rebate as we spend?

Do you guys buy any credit card insurance like HSBC's Card Protection Plus, especially those with high CL?
*
So far have not entertain any of those schemes. Most of the time I fully settle monthly expenses so I do not see the benefits. On top of that my risk exposure is pretty low.
