now they say they will send one more statement to show all balances are neutralized etc etc. Hopefully there's a clear understanding on the statement that the card has been cancelled. Its really ridiculous. Bank Negara should be doing some sort of standardized cancellation process...instead of thinking ways of taxing the citizens.
*
Just like what happened to me with TM/Streamyx. I terminated the service, bills continue to arrive. I called their billing department in KL to complain. Told them I won't pay the last outstanding balance due on my cancellation date that their office has received. Not the date/month their office want to cancel my account. In 3 weeks time only, I receive the last statement with correct outstanding balance rclxms.gif then no more statement from them and during the 3 weeks, the account has been cancelled (because I could not sign-in to account anymore when I test to sign-in).

I hope RHB will stick to their word to you by sending last statement with all outstanding balance per Oct/Nov 2009.

I have not cancel any CC so no idea if any of the CC I have will give me such trouble.

Good luck!

Usually it's within one transaction; take CIMB DA as an example.

But it also depends on the bank itself. Try check from the bank website or give them a call. smile.gif
*
It's true that it depends on the bank itself. For Public Bank, they allow multiple transaction to convert any purchase to flexi payment, as long as the request was made before the next statement date.

If the bank reject me, is there a rules that I cannot submit application for certain time? or I can keep submit?  hmm.gif
*
When I applied for RHB and UOB credit cards last December 2009, it was rejected for unknown reason even I don't have bad credit reputation (I pay before due date for existing cards and don't have any other loan until March for home loan). Then on January 2010, the agents of RHB-Tesco and UOB credit card approached me to apply for their CC. I told the RHB agent that I applied a month ago but was rejected. The RHB agent said it's OK to try again. After 2 weeks, both application was approved. Got UOB One Platinum with 10K limit and then RHB-Tesco with 10K limit as well.
I, then applied for MBF credit card because my friend recommended it to me. It was approved but low limit (3K only). I decided to keep it since the GST is waived and good for backup.

So I don't think all bank require many months before you can re-apply (based on my case). If so, RHB will not even look at my 2nd application that they finally approved. Unless they approved it only because it's a co-brand instead of the generic CC, or because there are many people cancelling their CC because of GST. If so, it doesn't make sense, right?

You sounded as if you have doubts in what we are saying.  hmm.gif You could have been lucky because the people cancelling their cards during that period is many times more than people applying, so the banks could have relaxed some of their conditions temporarily. They can do it @ any time without informing the public nor this is something regulated ... it is up to the bank.

On the same note, we did not mention that this (application cooling off period) is well acknowledged by the bank and the timeframe is only a general guideline. Why don't you try doing this to the likes of Citibank, HSBC, SCB, MBB, CIMB ... basically bigger names in CC and tell us whether your experience (or their treatment) will be the same ?

*
Please don't get me wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif
What I'm trying to say only is that the cooling period policy seems not always implemented by the bank. If it is, then they would have reject nor will not entertain my application, after a month ago only of being rejected. I do feel though that my application for RHB-Tesco CC is either because it's only a co-brand or because many people has cancelled their cards due to GST. I mentioned this is on my earlier post that's why I find it strange. Anyhow, it's an experience and learned that they don't always follow their policies on applications.
Or maybe because I have a free Tesco Club card membership that was tied by the RHB credit card agent on my application. The Tesco club card is only a year though.

I already have HSBC and MBB credit cards. Both card was issued 2005. These are the only supporting document that the credit card agents have asked from me (they photocopied the said credit cards).
Have not try applying to Citibank (I might not apply for Citibank CC since I did not like the service of their Home Loan department but not sure if their CC department is different) and CIMB though. I did apply for Ambank, EON and RHB last December - and all was rejected at the same time. Have not re-try them except that RHB Tesco because I was approached by their agent and kept telling me that trying again is not a problem. I thought he was wrong but he was not.

can somebody tell me what is transit payment scheme and proprietary payment scheme in credit card????

Maybe you can check below pages:

QUOTE
INSIDE Contactless, Cubic Transportation Systems and Visa have developed a multifunction contactless payment card that supports both Visa payWave payments and Cubic’s NextPASS fare collection software that meets contactless fare media standards established by the American Public Transportation association. The new system was unveiled at APTA’s International Transit Expo currently underway in San Diego, Calif.

INSIDE’s proof-of-concept demonstration showed how a single multi-application card based upon the company’s MicroPass 4003 chip platform can be used to conduct contactless payments on both a retail POS terminal and on a Cubic transit fare collection device. [...]

According to INSIDE, having a resident transit application on a general-purpose payment card enables it to be used like a native transit card. The transit payment system treats it just as a regular transit card, and is able to perform all the normal front-end processing. Because of its intelligence, the transit application on the card is able to cope with highly complex fare schedules based on distance, zones and time, for example, as well as various schemes for enabling riders to transfer between multiple transit lines.

Proprietary Credit-based: Proprietary Credit-based APMs operate proprietary platforms that complete sales transactions by offering the consumer credit terms.  They operate exclusively without the domain of the credit card networks.  Examples of this type of APM are Bill Me Later, PayPal Pay Later, and eLayaway®.  Under this model, the APM grants credit and later invoices the consumer for any purchases.  The APM then pays the merchant via ACH less any applicable fess.  Generally speaking, consumers are granted credit during a brief application process the first time they check-out choosing that APM.  Consumers may also apply for an account by going to the APMs Web site.

Hi all, I have a quick question. I have a monthly income of about RM1800 to RM2000, but as a freelance editor for different companies, I was wondering what I'd have to show the banks (perhaps my bank statements?) to be eligible for credit cards. Thanks.
*
Like David83 have said, you need to provide proof of income. Bank statement to prove that you have monthly income will help. There is option in a credit card application to fill-in - Employment details. You need to choose "Self Employed" because you are a freelancer.

I suggest getting the CC application form, fill it in, submit it with all supporting documents that you can provide including any letter that you can secure from different companines that you are working for as freelance editor. They call it "Letter of Employment" that says you are editing or writing with them since ____ (what year) and your average salary is RM ____ per month or per article or per editing job is RM ____.

If you volunteer to contribute an EPF that will be another good supporting documents in addition to savings, current or fixed deposit bank statements/passbook/letter of employment.
If you pay tax yourself, show them too. Anything that you can provide will definitely help with the evaluation of the bank.

And don't lose hope when one or two rejects you. There are many banks.

Is it possible to get a credit card from MBB after applying their fixed deposit account?..if so how does it work?..

I understand you can do that with public bank..is it possible with MBB?.. icon_question.gif
*
Yes. Just go to the MBB branch and tell them that you want to get a secured credit card. Most of the time it's 1:1 - FD amount means your credit limit is the same.

Does anyone here knows how to enable the feature like Mastercard Secure Code when you are using Online Credit Card payment - just for security purpose ?
Does VISA comes with such feature too ?

Thank you.

In addition to hye's reply... some banks automatically pre-enrolled the credit cards for Verified by Visa (VbV) or MasterCard SecureCode. Check their website for info or option/page to setup a password or code for your CC. If it's pre-enrolled, the security feature that you can only add is a PIN code for your credit card.

Example: MBF card - When you login to your online CC account, you have the option to activate and create password/activate the MC SecureCode.
PBB already pre-enrolled, you only add personal PIN
MBB - login to m2u then proceed to Maybankard Secure Online Shopping Registration

So basically i still need the payslip?..
*
No, you don't need a payslip but your IC only. Bring along your FD receipt as well.
Your money in your FD is your "guarantee" already. It's called secured credit card.

I am currently using HLB VISA Card .. I don't think I can find the option of activating the Secure Code feature on my Online Banking service. Anyway, will double confirm with the CSR on this ..

Really appreciate for sharing your experience.

They have that option too. It's in http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/cc/ccsecure_fb.jsp?flag=ccsecure

Guys...i got a situation here..need some advice...On hand i got 5K in cash...and i got 2 CC..each having 5K more or less outstanding so total around 10K..and currently i use only 1 CC as i tried to finish off the other one slowly. Both on good term so still at 13.5% p.a. I got an offer to turn my CC outstanding into installment (458/mth for 12 mths) with lower interest < 10% (the one i'm not using). So is it wise for me to use the 5K cash on my current card (the one i'm using) and turn the other CC balance into installment?
*
Since you are not using the other card because you want it settled... yes, and in my humble opinion.. it is wise to do a balance transfer.
Advantages:
1. Fixed Monthly payment - no need to worry on more interest charges in your unused CC while you are paying/settling it. In short, save money in interest since its fixed and you'll pay upfront.
2. Option to choose lower interest rate - look around at different CC issuers with balance transfer. Some banks will give you less interest x number of months.
3. You'll have new credit line or credit card with another bank. I suggest choosing also the CC that you really need. Example: Some people are looking for on the spot rebates while others are looking for rewards from earned points or discounts on frequently used services or merchants or some nice features like automatic increase of credit line every 6 months, if you are a good payer.
4. Your credit record will refresh especially if the CC that you are settling is currently with outstanding balance for 6 or more months (credit for long duration of time).

Note only that you cannot transfer what you've transferred before.

I've a Public Bank Visa credit card, when I ordered something from oversea, they have additional 5% charges(for currency conversion fee?). I also have a Public Bank ATM aka debit card, my question is that does the debit card also have this 5% charges when order something at oversea?
*
Should be 1.25% as administration fee and current exchange rate from foreign currency to RM.
Banks normally charge 5% for Cash Advance but not in your case.
I suggest calling 03-21768000 to question the 5% charge.

Today I use MBF credit card to book online at Airasia.com. The payment using MBF credit card will not succeed (it says decline, even though it's OK to use in shopping or dining) and I realized that I have not activate the Mastercard securecode for online payment using MBF card. So I proceed to activate it at MBF website, created password and personal greeting message. The payment to Airasia.com went thru using the MBF card after doing that. smile.gif

The office boy in my company, earning around RM1.2k per month,  got himself a platinum credit card today.

I'm still in shock.

That's cool biggrin.gif

Maybe the office boy in your office has lots of 'other source of income' with 'proof' or have enough money to FD then get a secured Platinum CC or he have another card with more than 1 year, house or car loans (any bank loans) with good credit record and/or the credit limit of existing card is a platinum's credit limit.

Just curious, i applied for a cimb gold (petronas) credit card near the end of last week. Today, I got a phone call from a 'blocked' (anonymous) number asking for mother's maiden name and my latest cimb savings account transaction supposedly to confirm my particulars. Is this typical for them to ask it even though the card haven't been issued yet?
*
I received exactly the same questions for verification from banks (but not all banks but two only - PBB and MBB). Only difference is the phone number is not anonymous. Since you recently applied and you are expecting such call for your CC application, I think you are 'safe' as long as you don't provide important info e.g. PIN code and internet banking password. You can also ask the CIMB staff/officer his/her phone number and name.

Anyone tried applying any of the Hong Leong CC using their online application? If yes, is the online application status (to check) really works e.g. it will display 'pre-approved', 'unsuccessful' or 'successful' after number of days of applying and documents submission?
Just wondering as I'm planning to use the online application by HLB for a gold card. I know I can do a walk-in application but if online application works, it'll be great to hear any experience. TIA!

Edit to add: Never mind. I just tried their service to apply a CC using online application. And found the answer which says "approved-in-principle". Now.. the waiting stage whether it'll be approve or not biggrin.gif

Hi anyone know what is maybank customer service email address?

i send to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my as given by customer service my no reply.

bad service la maybank, cannot tahan their service.

for those new applicant for maybank please avoid it.
*
I agree. When I first applied for MBB card few years ago, it took 3 weeks before they call my work office to verify. I remember checking the application status after a month but still in processing stage. I forget about it already. I received a call from their branch nearby my place that my card is ready for collection.. but that is after 2 months since the application. Lousy service. Other banks - 1 to 2 weeks only.

Whenever I will call their phone, they are so lazy to answer soon or I have to wait a whooping 40 minutes.
