I also think the interest should be around like winner said, but that bloody bank(Alliance) insisted they calculate it corectly. They insist the interest is base on 2k that i use not the outstanding of Rm13.

No,i remember my payment date,it is not a late payment.
*
Seems like you not fully understand the credit card terms and conditions that you put your signature on it.
When you read your credit card terms and conditions (can refer to item 10 here), finance charges are charged to RM2000 (not the outstanding balance of RM13) from posting date to your partial payment date when you not fully settled by next due date.

Estimation: RM2000 x 1.25% x 27/30 = RM22.5

ok,understood. So for those bankrupt kaki,if prevoius month got no outstanding amount and following month usage got not enough money to pay full just pay minimum only you will still get charge for the interest with the same amount. Correct ar?
*
If you foresee don't have enough money to settle in full, then pay the amount you able to re-pay as early as possible after you use it (there is no interest free period for the transaction anymore).

QUOTE(winner @ Feb 19 2010, 09:57 PM)
It doesn’t really make sense. His payment due date was 25/01/10. Prior to this due date, he had already made a payment of RM1987 on 7/01/10.

Take another example. Let's say his Statement Date is 5th March and Payment Due Date is 25th March. Over the period of 6th Feb to 5th March, he spends RM5000. His outstanding balance shown in the statement on 5th March is RM5000. On 7th March, he makes a payment of RM4999, with RM1 remains unpaid after the Payment Due Date on 25th March. Does it mean that he will be charged an interest based on the full amount of RM5000? The fact is that he has already paid RM4999.
*
From my understanding, interest will be charged on RM4999 for 3 days (assuming posting date also on 5th March and partial payment of RM4999 made on 7th March). The remaining RM1 will incur 1 full month interest.

if it ever happens, cancel it straight away
i believe the bank will have to absorb the tax if applicable

my mom applied for citibank giant, received it plus another Citi master gold
now asked citibank to cancel both (coz not happy with the extra card), i'll see whether they dare to charge service tax or not rolleyes.gif

btw, citibank application super fast, applied at giant usj on sunday, received the card by courier on Thursday sweat.gif
*
Service tax is charged immediately after new card got issued, so you still have to pay for it no matter you use/activate/cancel it or not.
Nothing to do with "they dare to charge service tax" or not.

Please file a complain to Citibank and BNM, don't let this happen again and again. Banks SHOULDN'T do business in this way.
Imagine they get you RM1,000,000 loan (or may be another credit card) without your knowledge?

i planning to get a PBB cc..n transfer all my debt from MBB to PBB..as the news paper advertise show 0% in 6mths..any advice??
*
Yes, you pay no interest for 1st 6 months but you will need to pay more interest if you can't settle the amount transfer to PBB within 6 months.
Say you paying minimum repayment for your MBB credit card and entitled to 13.5% interest rate. But once you sign up new PBB credit card, the interest rate is 17.5%.

Example: transfer outstanding 6k from MBB to PBB (5% minimum payment of outstanding)

MBB=13.5%

Total Payment=RM2649.02, Outstanding=RM4015.78

You will find you are paying more when you do balance transfer and just paying for minimum prepayment.
But it does help you to save a lot interest if you can settle all amount transferred within 6 months.

I'm already graduate..but only Diploma  sweat.gif

Varying monthly EPF contribution may not be a good sign.
If the allowance is not fixed, they can interpret that you might not getting any allowance in following months.
Thus, you may not meeting the minimum salary requirement.
Wish you good luck smile.gif

Ask back to yourself, will you lend money to a person that you knew he/she might not repay?
I doubt there is any bank willing to risk their money even though the return is high.

guys, some question about cash advance from credit card.

lets say i have a credit limit of only rm3k. already used rm1k. so there is a balance of rm2k.

according to the cc agreement book, it say "50% of credit line & subject to available credit balance or whichever that is lower"

does that mean i can only take 50% of rm2k (available credit balance) , or 50% of 3k (full credit)?

thanks. sorry for any error as i`m typing with one hand smile.gif
*
50% of your RM3k credit limit.

guys,

do you think a good move if I balance transfer my 3 cc to eon cc? it has 48 months with one time interest, 18.99% which equal to 4.5% p.a. I have no dicipline in clear my cc 1 by 1 .. haha .. tried a few times but failed ..

I think, use that BT and close all the other 3 cards .. or do you have any other suggestion?
*
Your question has been answered in last few pages. If you were to console yourself by comparing 4.5% to 18%, then you will be paying the price.
There is no other way to help you if you can't help yourself. Ever wondering why some people has no problem owning more than 4 credit cards but you did?

But u still need to pay for monthly installment?
You wouldn't have earn full 2.75% for 1 year FD by doing that.

QUOTE(Syd G @ Apr 14 2010, 09:43 AM)
I found out something today. My DA card didnt have CIMBclicks access and statements are mailed to my parents' house every month. I made a 0% for 6 months with them and whilst writing a cheque for the month of April, I didnt know what the due date was, so I referred to February statement - due date was 6th March 2010.

I assumed the Apr due date is 6th April 2010 so I wrote a check for the 4th of April. I banked it in and lo and behold, the due date was actually 3rd of April ......

I was quite sad cause I was about to pay 1% penalty which is almost RM100  vmad.gif  vmad.gif. I signed up for CIMBclicks access immediately and my April statement just came out - I didnt get charged anything for paying late ....

..... yay?! happy.gif
*
You are lucky in this case.
You cannot simply assume old due date as next statement due date. It is more accurate to calculate yourself since we all getting 20 days after statement date to pay.
So assuming your statement date is 14th every month, due date for Feb statement is March 6th (due to 28 days in Feb) and due date for March statement is April 3rd.

Your amount due more than RM10k? hmm.gif

how is the interest rate count?
lets say mine is 55days interest free from purchase
after 55 days then the interest will be count month by month?
*
Depend on your payment record.

Tier 1: Cardmembers who settle their minimum payment promptly for 12 consecutive months - 13.5% p.a. or 1.125% per month
Tier 2: Cardmembers who settle their minimum payment promptly for at least 10 months or more in a 12-month cycle - 16% p.a. or 1.333% per month
Tier 3: Cardmembers who are neither in Tier 1 nor Tier 2 - 17.5% p.a. or 1.458% per month

55 days interest free period only applicable if you have fully paid your balance for previous month.
Interest is calculated on daily basis, from the date of transaction until full payment. The interest will be charged to your bill on the following month.

thanks for the reply ..but i stil lget a bit confuse  rclxub.gif
below is the rates and fees for the credit card i want:
Interest rates

The interest rate for the Student card is 19.74% p.a. on purchases and 21.24% p.a. on cash advances.
Fees & charges

$0 Annual Fee for the duration of studies, for students with a Streamline account with Student Options.

Other charges may be payable.
Balance transfer

Once approved transfer the balance of any Australian-issued credit card or store card to your Student credit card. You'll have just one bill to manage each month and pay just 5.99% p.a. on balance transfers for the first 5 months.
Interest-free period

Up to 55 days interest free on purchases. The interest-free period also applies to most bill payments. It does not apply to cash withdrawals.

so for example if i buy an item that cost AUD$600 and i think I think I will finish settle it within 6 months.so what is total cost if i settle the payment in 6 months?
sorry i am totally noob in credit card  and dun understand about the interest works doh.gif

see HLB website here

You can receive a minimum of 0.2% cash return on all your monthly purchases. Depending on your outstanding balance for the month, HLBwill give you an incentive of different cash rebate rates. So, I think basically u need to have an outstanding rm50,000 of credit card debt before u can enjoy the 2%... but doesn't that mean u need to pay a late payment charge of rm50 + interest too... if so, doesn't worth it lor...
*
There is still no late payment charge as long as credit card holder make payment on time (doesn't matter his card carrying huge outstanding balance).
But huge outstanding balance will incur a lot of interest.

I guess u entitle for 13.5% interest since u doesn't have to pay if you didn't use your card (minimum payment will be zero).
